You mean the Ultra pack? Is it even compatible with the Icon frame? Not familiar with the Ultra, my bags and frame have Icon on them. Perhaps I'll look into it a little. Seems like they have redesigned the frame at least 2 times with the last go around. When I checked out the 1850 bag and frame last week, it appears fundamentally the same design for quick bag exchange.

Yah, I was gonna tell you that. You can pick them up second hand occasionally. Shoot me a PM, I may pull my 3000 off my frame and swap it out for the 6000 and then I don't really have a need for an extra empty 3000 bag.

I have owned a Kuiu 3000 Icon for the past 1.5 years or so, during that time I've carried out two pronghorn and a javelina, logged hundreds of miles and hours in the sticks. It works well for what I want it to do. I can carry a rifle, a bow, and a tripod on my pack at the same time and fit all the components for a hunt that I need. I wouldn't trust it to pack out an elk as there is so much flex in the carbon fiber outers I'd worry it would be an sorry end to my pack. I got to check out their 1850 day pack at the SCI show in Vegas this past week and have to admit that although a slick pack, I'll stick with a 3000 as there is minimal weight difference and more options for gear storage. To each their own tho. I know hunters and outfitters that use their packs, a few have had bad experiences with the carbon fiber blowing out on them and that was mostly due to heavy loads. Initially I wasn't so sure about my purchase due to the design and frame but I really like the pack now. I also have a 6000 icon pack I haven't even put on my icon frame yet cuz I like the 3000 so much. Let us know what you decide.

+1.Seems like unless you know where more pigs are off Bloody Basin, Id focus on the spot you found them in, pigs do like their homeranges. Thanks for the update too and good luck. Nice job finding pigs in 21.

I know there has to be a few CWT members out there who got out for the first Wyo pronghorn season. Let us see some pics and what season you hunted. The next season starts next week, lets keep the interest up while we wait for Az's deer hunts and late elk.

Wow! Pintails. Amazing. -
Someone should buy this...thats a friggin deal!

Bump for a great deal and solid stoves. Dragonfly are great stoves for simmering and both models are tough and will last many years. New pumps are plug and play and available from most outdoor stores or online.

I've generally gone through life keeping my mouth shut unless I knew what I was talking about. Seems like you have a pretty set opinion about how game and fish acquires trucks without much knowledge about what it costs or takes to run or operate a fleet. I also think you should further look into the projects and opportunities that Az Antelope Foundation, AES, ABA, DBSS, Rod and Gun Clubs, SCI, Turkey Federation, Trout Unlimited, (and all the other groups I missed) that not only identify but also gladly volunteer their time and funds to conservation work done. Additionally, maybe you should do some research about HPC and what funding and allocation or resources are utilized and evaluated. I have my complaints about the game and fish department, as well as any other state or federal agency. I greatly appreciate the work and effort that many wm's and biologists do on a regular basis. Could they do things better, sure they can. I simply challenge that you get involved in a conservation project in 2014, and then tell all of us here at CWT that you still can't believe game and fish couldn't do it on their own...'cause I'm sure you will value the sweat, effort and satisfaction in working alongside like minded folks and agency personnel. Have a great year...

Been using this same type of filter for 10 years. It helps to take it apart to clean and to dry it out once you return to civilization Bump for a good product.

Not sure what your budget is but I recently found an Arizona company based out of Prescott. They do custom, semi custom holsters and belts. Simplyrugged.com not inexpensive, although similar to market prices. Good luck with your search.

How many animals have you harvested in Arizona
SWDesertRat replied to Seldom Drawn's topic in The Campfire
My goodness TJ, does Peg know youre a vampire?Otherwise, very impressive run on the elk tags. Hope 2014 is just as successful for you as your early pig kill. -
19b is fairly limited on public land. There are grasslands but most of that is locked up and the remainder is thick juniper country. Not familiar with land access issues in 31 but I know what the country is like and it way more favorable for finding pigs. In full disclosure, I did pick up a 19b leftover general tag, and now the homework starts to find available pig country and pigs. Good luck

**Lets here your thoughts about new paper tags AND tags being withheld till jan1. :)
SWDesertRat replied to hoghntr's topic in The Campfire
I don't have one of the new tags so I can't compare. I've often wondered why Az's were so different than other states and frankly didn't like the adhesive at first. I've stuffed tags in critters ears, mouths, gambrels, and zip tied or electrical taped to horns/antlers and wherever it works to keep me legal. But I don't think it's a big deal, figure there are bigger things for me to worry about than what my tag looks like. Hopefully, once they get their system figured out, it'll be smooth sailing..at least we don't have to wear our license on our hats or jackets like some states back east... I quit buying license and tags from Walmart years ago after a clerk sold me the wrong license. Game Warden gave me a break when I got checked although I was in the wrong. Been overly concerned about it since, I always double and triple checkup tags and license now and don't buy from Walmart. -
Nice job, way to start your New Year. Congrats!

I can understand your frustration, I'd be a bit miffed myself after calling and driving. Im certainly not creating excuses for them, but maybe it was one if those days where business was dead or slow and they decided to call it a day.Every time I have visited them it was well worth my trip and enjoyable to chat about hunting or gear and they have gone above and beyond in customer service. Id hope you would give them a second chance to earn your business. Have a good New Year.

Sportsmans Mesa Optics Counter SUCKS !!!!!
SWDesertRat replied to rezmedic's topic in Optics and tripods
Its because he doesnt have any investment in it. Go to Ross, Gila Outdoors or Outdoorsman and they will spend more than enough time with you. Prolly even have some good feedback for you regarding field experience. My .02 on the topic is that if you are looking for a pair of binos to do it all (carry all the time around your neck and glass on tripod) the 12x50 will suit that need, if you are looking for a big eyes and something you carry in your pack but put away once you start stalking or that kind then the 15's will be that for you. The 12's are a lil more variable but the 15's I see as more of a specialist optic.
