I am Actually pretty sure now you dont even have to call and report your archery deer harvest they just want you to fill out the survey they send everyone that has a tag. I am pretty sure it is in the regs just under the archery deer section

I know that this buck is a trophy of a lifetime and if it was hunted and cought going over the fence then more congrats to the hunter cuz i am sure it took time to figure out were that was happening. But from ready these posts this is a buck that people have petted and fed for years? That is crazy to me so all i had to do is see it over the fence and walk up to it like i was going to feed or pet it and then shoot it with arrow? I love this thread so much lol

I have a 2002 honda 400ex that has different jets for different elevations in the carb and how i have it set up right now it will not run in higher elevation over 5000 feet it will start but will have no power what so ever. To me sounds like you have a jet problem or an air/fuel problem

My 2013 Archery Deer hunt started a little late this year and was not able to make it out tell saturday evening due to work and no pto to take for the season opener. Got to my area around 11am and set up camp and i was off to the blind. The even was a good one with a good number of does and a couple 2x2s and spikes made it thru that evening but nothing i was looking for that i had seen on trail cam pics. The next morning came in a hurry and i was at it again. Throughout the morning i had seen a few deer but again nothing i was waiting for had come in. weather started to change and i new the deer would start moving and sure enough around 4pm this guy showed up and i took a 48yard shot and i hit the mark. just after i shot my deer it started raining cats and dogs and thats when the real fun began. packed up the deer on quad and started out down the mountains. raining so hard and the ground was so wet i was sliding all over. got stuck for over thirty minutes in a washout and then rolled my polaris rzr on its side down a hill because i slid of the side. i was fortunate the deer didnt get damaged and i didnt get hurt. made it back to camp and skinned and quartered deer and packed up camp to head out all while it was raining. started to drive out and got to a hill and my quad was just not going to make it up with the trailer weight and everything i had on it. so we had to set up camp and wait it out tell today. all in all had the time of my life and i made it out alive lol. will never forget the feeling i had when i saw this buck skylined and heading my way

2013 archery velvet coues deer
couesdeerhntr replied to couesdeerhntr's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
The area i hunt i have found some natural salt licks that the deer just tear up and everytime i go back the hole is deeper from them eating the dirt i posted a trail cam pic in this topic and if u look at bottom of pic u can see the hole the deer are making eating and licking the dirt or salt deposit or whatever is there that they need. During there antler growth they need the nutrients and seem to hit it up daily if u can find some of those then that would be a great place to set up a blind and see some nice bucks -

Was just looking threw some pics of mt lions and was wondering if you guys eat the meat of the mt lion that any of you guys have shot. I have never shot a mt lion but not sure i would eat it if i did. Just wanted to get a little feedback on the taste if eaten

Looks like a nice buck to me good growth for this early i dont think they have hit there peak growing stage so it has good mass and growth should be a shooter by season. Where i hunt and the bucks i have shot in velvet always seem to still have some growing time left and thats not tell late august.

Last time i was in the area in morning heard tons of yotes
-
As for hunting that area gets lots of pressure during the hunting seasons from all the folks from tucson and phx. And all the way to peppersauce it is mostly private property until u get to the canyon campgrounds. Very beautiful area but expect to see lots of hunters in there during the deer seasons
-
The forest is in stage 2 fire restrictions no firearms are allowed to be discharged at this time. But there are some awesome caves to explore in the pepersauce caves.

Just seeing if anyone was going to be doin the archery turkey hunt this year? Was thinking about hunting unit 23 because i have never hunted it. Would love to go to unit 1or 27 but i have allready been cruzing up there alot to drive to new mexico for turkey and to be honest i want to stay a little closer to home. Hopefully i can find some turkey and get it done? I know there are other units but out of the other units i think 23 would be my best bet what do you guys think? I think u can hunt 4a and 4b as well

Anyone doing the over the counter archery turkey
couesdeerhntr replied to couesdeerhntr's topic in Turkeys!
So i spent six days hunting with my otc turkey tag and had lots of action but just could not seal the deal. Had a great time and lots gobbling to my calls but it didnt happen. Had two gobblers at less then 20 yards but it just didnt happen. One i couldnt take a shot due to to much cover and the second one i shot at and had a good chance but what i learned is that a rage two blade will not go thru tall grass. Then i called in a group of three jakes and i shot the longest bearded tom and i hit him what i thought was good and he stumbled and tried really hard to keep up with the other two jakes. He could not walk at all and was trying to keep up with the jakes but was having a hard time and i thought he was done. I watched him go over a hill side and then saw one jake pitch down the hill and i thought i taged out for the year with my third turkey of the year. Two from new mexico and my one from az. But i guess i was wrong. I had good blood for the turkey but could not find him. I guess he had took off with the other two jakes and i spent the next two days looking for him. I tracked the blood to where he must of took flight because i could track the blood tell he took flight, and then no blood. But i had a great experience and i def look forward to next year. But in the mean time i am getting ready for archery deer. When i am not on my i phone i will post a pic of my arrow because that is the only thing i got to show for my effort. Man i love spring turkey and after this year i am sure i will never hunt turkey without a bow. makes it so much More if a challenge. I love it!
