Intetesting. I wonder if this contraption would work as a horse feeder. Can horse pellets work?

Hunting with an order of protection - Questions/Thoughts needed
naturegirl posted a topic in The Campfire
Well, it turns out both my ex and I were drawn for the same hunt. I knew this was a possibility but not too likely since he has been drawn 3 out of 4 years now. I figured he would skip a year, but no such luck. We were both drawn for the same early archery bull hunt in 6A. I stuck with what I know for hunt choices because I want my freezer filled and I know my success will be highest in an area I've been stomping around for 13+ years. I have an order of protection against him. I know it's effective in the woods as well as the city (and country for that matter), but how do I go about enforcing it? I personally would like to stake out my few small sections of 6a and ask him to keep away, but I don't know if that is the right way to go about it or not. We both know the same areas and the chances are high we would cross paths at some point or another. I don't believe he wishes at all to break the order of protection. On a side note - I hunt alone, carry more than one weapon, and can protect myself. I'm not afraid of dying or anything like that, but what I wish for is that I can go out on my hunt and not be bothered or fear being bothered in any way by him. Again, I'll add I do not believe he wishes to break the order of protection. By chance......has anyone else ever encountered anything like this or have words of wisdom? I will run it by my attorney, but he is not a hunter in any way, shape, or form....lol -

Interesting. I've purposefully stayed away because certain comments make me want to vomit. Some people are nice and well others are flat jerks. Feel free to go find yourselves another punching bag. -
I don't ever find boats!

What a wonderful way to spend the day. Congrats to Peg on the super nice bass!

It's a huge unit with a lot of tags. You can get away from people but scouting is essential. You don't need to shoot at 50-60 yards. I've had the hunt before and I had many opportunities 30 yards or under. There are plenty of bulls to go around

I'm so very sorry all of you had to go through such a horrible experience. Every now & then one of them (predators) hunt the wrong species & the right thing was done by tracking him down & eliminating him. He would have continued & possibly moved onto humans. So so sad RIP Julie

Thank you CWT member Mike (you know who you are). This is sure a nice catfish you caught and now is in my freezer waiting to be eaten this weekend. It was very nice meeting you and your wife on the lake Again, thank you for sharing your bounty! I've been trying to be patient and learn to fish for bass. Many moons ago I caught a 10.5 lb bass and I don't think I've caught but one or two any size bass since then so I tend to stick with blue gills and catfish so I can catch something. This season I'm on a kayak compared to last seasons when I was in a motorboat. I am being taunted by these pre-spawn, spawn, and post-spawn bass. I can see them everywhere below me from the kayak, but I can knock them on the head with a variety of objects and they will not bite. I can pretend to eat their babies and they won't bite. So now I watch them and interestingly enough, they watch me. I often see the bigger bass come beside my kayak and peer up at me. It's very interesting the things I'm seeing sitting on the water in a kayak versus a motorboat. Turtles - I had no idea they were in our lakes, but look what I caught. I first tried catching a larger one from my kayak by grabbing it. I was able to touch it, but then I just ended up pushing it away from me into the seaweed. I waited and watched for it to resurface and then I realized there were two. I really wanted to catch one so I tried it with a net. I followed the bubbles with the net. The bubbles went right so I moved the net right. Bubbles went left so I moved the net left, then I look down in front of me and there it is - it was time to scoop! I do not recommend this way of catching fish. The minnow was still alive, but the striper was dead. A family on the lake was nice enough to show me their find. This is a much better way to catch a fish! I was on the other side of the reeds watching the fish when I hear a ruckus. I come quietly around the corner and I think we were both pretty shocked to see the other, but my camera was in reach so I started taking pictures until it flew off. This gopher snake is a very good swimmer. I wasn't close enough or fast enough to catch him swimming through the water, but got him sunning afterward. -

OK I'll admit it. I miss the Real Housewives shows. They are very entertaining to me. I didn't watch much TV but did record those darn trashy (but entertaining) shows. -

I highly recommend everyone try the no TV thing once for at least 2 weeks. Those couple little rugrats in your avatar benefit from it too . I am finding I have a lot more time to play with my daughter which is a wonderful thing! She is also seeking activities that aren't TV related. we are both reading more and of course spending more time outdoors. So far so good and I'm at 2 weeks. -

McDonalds has free WiFi that's how I uploaded my pics. I'm liking the no TV but the home internet I find more difficult. I'm trying it though. -
I took my little girl to last year's antlerfest and I'll say it's AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! This is where I learned exactly how mature the Coues was I let walk on day #1 of my rifle hunt. I'd never seen a Coues rack up close and received a very quick lesson.

I've witnessed how the soft shell turtle can stretch its neck about to its back legs (caught on a worm). I'm going to catch those too later this summer. Turtle soup is pretty good . I'd like to add a pic of a soft shell caught this year but I no longer have home internet or TV. -

Its a cheap starter camera (considering camera prices) but I get close for my pics it got wet on one of my trips and is still working plus I lost some plastic ring (still working). I'm afraid to spend more on one but maybe someday. About $600 for a great starter package. Its a Canon Rebel T3 EOS 1100D The slider/catfish were out of Saguaro but most other pics were Canyon (also has turtles). -
Research the metarsal gland on Coues, Mule deer, and hybrids. The glands location on the lower rear leg is a good indicator.

*Pictures* Baby doves, dead dove with Harris Hawk, chrome car, heron, etc.

I’ve been following her progress as this nest was used last year too. She has reared two baby doves this year. She has a few predators she needs to look out for in my neighborhood (see below). This was taken from my front gate last weekend. I was watching a dove struggle across the dirt road and I knew it was hurt. It was odd how many other doves were gathering to watch this dove try to get across the road. I then turned my back for a second and when I turned back around this male Harris Hawk had grabbed one of the dozen or so bystander doves. He’s a smart hunter J This is the second gopher snake this year on my road, but this one was very much alive. I encouraged him to go on his way so he can PLEASE kill some gophers! I thought about picking him up and taking him back to my place and guiding him down the gopher holes, but he decided to act like a rattlesnake and it worked – I was intimidated! Beautiful little hearts that are blooming up north. Lots and lots of these gals out in the forest. This is a first for me – A chrome car! I think I saw AZL driving it!!!! JK Oops! That's a bad day at the lake for someone. A second wrecker was pulling up to assist. Amazing wingspan! It's time for a bird bath- 12 replies

Hunting with an order of protection - Questions/Thoughts needed
naturegirl replied to naturegirl's topic in The Campfire
I'm good with letting this rest. My plan is good. Thanks again. I had to google Joan of Arc to remember the details of her life. She was good at what she did but was burned at the stake because she was a woman who led an army to battle and won (thus she was a witch). Go figure. Not much has changed since then. I'll write about my hunt when my bull is tagged. -

You all know you are challenging me and I do like challenges. I'm 5'4 and 145 lbs. My bow is set at 63 lbs. For years I keep saying I'm a strong woman but unless you witness it, its hard to understand. I have no doubt I could pack out an elk solo if it wasn't August. The high temps make me think twice about it. I'm not stupid ya all. I am fully aware of what my limits are. Believe it or not, there are women who are as physically strong as some of you men. -

I was thinking the same thing. Its her tag she can fill it as she sees fit, but its so much easier to draw a cow tag for meat, i cant imagine hanging a coveted hard to get bull tag on the first spike that meanders by. On day 10, spike down, on day 1-9 6x6 or nothing. And i'm a brown its down hunter about 98% of the time. Bull tags and antelope tags are exceptions. choice #1 6a early bull archery choice #2 6a Mid october COW muzzle loader The draw gods were good to me with 4 points. I was pretty darn sure i'd get drawn for the cow hunt - like pretty positive that is where my points were going. My history with bulls. Late rifle hunt about -6-7 years ago - no bull. Passed on two spikes and was going to take a 3x and my glove set off the trigger before I was ready. no bull. It was the year we were nailed with snow and it was a tough hunt. Hunted all 7 days. Early archery hunt 3 years ago. Passed on many spikes (I didn't count, but drew on many of them). yep, I felt sorry for them as they just wanted back in the herd. I shot at a good 6x on day four or five & found out my arrow rest was broke when my arrow hit the dirt in front of the bull on a 20-yard shot (I slipped on a downed aspen earlier in that morning & didn't realize I had damaged my bow). I was also too inexperienced to know I could more aggressively approach bulls when they were busy doing other things like raking trees, etc., I lost some good opportunities because I was way too cautious . I then took a 30-yard shot on a very nice 6x on day #9 of the hunt and the arrow I thought was a good hit, but I looked for 9 hours and never found the bull. I'm going hunting when the bulls will be bugling and that's a wonderful wonderful gift. I will shoot whatever bull crosses my path first. After I take it to Rhondas or Millers, I will head on down the road to fish, camp, or whatever it is I decide to do with the remaining time I have from my hunt. I like my plan a lot. PS - It's too late to change the hunting alone part. I like it, I love it, and I feel safer in the back country than I do in any city and that's a fact. Hunt #1 above I hunted in a pack. Hunt #2 all of my shot opportunities were when I was alone. I'll tag a bull and the goal is opening day.
