Solution to Water Hole Problems/Confrontations
naturegirl replied to m77's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
u have people who know how to share and people who don't. no rules or regulations will change that. -
well I'm busting butt elk hunting. we come back to camp yesterday and this big loud ruckus is coming from the sky and this large white bird lands on our buddies camper. I've tried attaching a pic from my phone. hope it works. It now raids our camp. What are the chances?

VERY nice! I would venture to say you experienced most bull hunters dream experience and a beautiful big bull to boot!

glad to hear ur recovering. that is an awful injury. maybe I should come say hi at the CC...haha. I've actually never stopped there though. I was not gifted with the ability to hit a golf ball. :0) is 6anut golfing with u? hope the bugling picks back up by Saturday 4u to welcome u back to the woods. its been very sporadic here right now.

oh boy looks like a bunch of "real" hunters to me. if it came from a pen, it makes me want to vomit. absolutely no sport in that.

lucky2hunt PM sent thx for the offer to help :0) only me I swear would get caught up with an escaped cockatoo while elk hunting ...lol HUNT UPDATE - Good news-hubby got a 4x5 last night! im thrilled its been a long time since we've had elk meat!

we tried twice. it was hysterical! he would go into the bed to crack open water bottle lids to drink. husband 1st tried throwing a blanket over it. then we try a tarp with both of us running it over the bed rails. he now found an escape hole one side. oh well. I'm only taking him if he wants to live in a cage. he will tell me this my landing on my arm. haha hunt is very good. I'm loving it! cv. they are bugling sporadically. I missed a decent 6x. turns out I tweaked my rest in a fall the day before when a downed aspen tripped me! but I didn't know that til the following day. i drew back 3 times on a spike at 20 yds. I decided not yet though. i've been in some absolutely awesome bugling shows right in the thick of multiple bulls doing their best to intimidate each other but for one reason or another haven't quite made it happen. just finished our five loads of laundry at the local laundry mat, gonna see if my friendly bird is at camp and maybe sit water tonight. its getting hot and i had a little action on water last night plus my body is tired and needs a little rest.

love the club! Congrats on a great bull!

we've had numerous similar things this hunt but the worst was my husband and buddy were sitting a tank. a guy walked up and my husband cow called and waved. the guy waved back and sat down to hunt the other side of the tank. now they had words and that guy was told a thing or two about ethics and my husband and buddy left. they saw him later that night and the guy did apologize though. Are you seriously kidding me? what fun would that be to hunt a tank with another hunter. my husband did the right thing amd I'm glad I'm not a man because I think my temper would've gotten the better of me :0)

well great. i still can't figure out how to do pic from my phone. I think its a cockatoo. crazy bird keeps getting in our stuff. we tried catching it twice but no luck. guess he likes the wild. he looks healthy all but his white bottom feathers are brown from the 6a dirt...lol

I'm in 6a and saw it too. very cool!

I need help! I have nothing but elk thoughts running through my head!

he's beautiful! Congrats to your wife!

see I seriously know how to spell...lol...and look at how I spelled this topic above. I'm getting more useless as the hours go by. That's too funny!

it opens Friday but we r leaving tomorrow. I've got lots of loose ends to wrap up but I keep heading to my hunting stuff instead....LOL. I remember the anticipation of Christmas as a small child and not being able to sleep because I was so excited. It's wonderful as an adult to be able to do something that makes me feel like that again! to be continued....

I will never forget! God bless the USA.

great pics!

if hunters don't self limit the use of the latest & greatest technologies its a safe bet big brother will...eventually. I personally would enjoy messing around with a thermal system a time or two but not in relation to hunting. I think for some hunting is primarily about the prize and not the experience. I personally prefer to continue challenging myself without that type of aid.

I'm so sorry. being robbed is horrible to go through. we have a house alarm now. ill definitely pass the info along to my husband and father-in-law who are into guns so they can keep their eyes open. I hope you are able to find at least some of your belongings.

wow. Congrats to the hunter! I thought it was a bull for a second !

the rut is starting for sure. smaller bulls are bugling. some are with cows. big bulls are still quiet from what I've seen and heard. I was deer hunting and thought I'd attempt my cow calling on the real thing just to see if my practice worked cuz the this bull kept bugling close to me. I called a small 6x into 6 yards. he kept looking for me (hiding behind a tree stump) . he even circled me and never spooked. he knew something wasn't right and walked off eventually. lets just say that made my day and gave me a little boost of confidence for sure.

We are getting closer to opening day, I'm very much looking forward to this hunt. I think I'm most excited about witnessing the rut for the first time. I've always been the one staying home with the kiddos for some reason...lol Do any of you have any last minute words of wisdom for me? My style is spot & stalk. Ill sit for periods of time to watch & listen but most of the time I'm moving slow. I do hear though that the slow walks can turn into running when you hear a bugle & are trying to close the gap. My personal goal is to only take what I consider ethical shots that are within my predetermined range. I broke this rule last week with a deer & shot out of my range. I shot under him. I recovered my arrow to verify the miss. it was clean&dry. Lesson learned thankfully without injuring him. I knew better . To all the other tag holders & helpers.....good luck, happy hunting, and straight shooting to you :0)
