Great shot and a great deer!

Wow! That is a beautiful deer. Looks like someone trained him well to just lay down on the red sheet and pose Great work!

That's where I got mine. I'd keep stopping in and twice they had it so I grabbed what they had. I have a box or so leftover from my hunt a couple weeks ago. 130 grain I think it's Winchester BT.

A good friend of mine also had lost his rights due to a felony. He served his time and has completely changed his life around. A couple years ago he hired a lawyer and got his rights back. It took time and money, but now he has legally put in for the draw, been drawn 2 years in a row, and is heading out Friday with an elk tag - all legal and legit.

Ouch. I had quite a few of those when I started off with a too big men's hand me down bow. Sure helps to have a bow that fits you although every once in awhile I still get a small one as a reminder that my form is off.

I like hunting in the snow. It's been 4-5 years since I've done it. I agree with others that seeing the game is a little easier and tracking in fresh snow is fun! Now I sure wish snow wasn't cold, but it is so keep the kiddos dry and warm (buy or borrow snow clothes (camo or not). I've done good at Goodwill for kid's snow clothes and also the walmarts up north have a good selection.

Kuiu Rain Gear - have questions regarding men's sizing
naturegirl posted a topic in Other Hunting Gear
My husband is getting new rain gear for Christmas and I'd like to get the sizes right the first time. I bought med/med for me and I've been thrilled with mine. Typically he wears large bottoms and XL or 2XL tops (he has long arms). He's 6' 190 lbs. Mostly I'm concerned about the jacket sizing and not sure which size to get to accommodate his arms and multiple layers underneath. If anyone here can help me out, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! -
I've enjoyed many of her shows especially once recently where she was carrying a bale of hay around to make a blind. Not too many women can do that. It goes with the territory if she chooses to be in the public eye though.

Just saw this guy a few days ago in 6a. They were in some really nasty canyons and oh to think of it with a bow. Dang - that's a real trophy!

Just got back from my Coues hunt and we came across these guys the day before my hunt and the last day of my hunt. The one ram looks to be a pretty good ram. The first time we saw them they were far, but the second time they were 500 yards. Although I've read in the regs sheep were in 6a, I had never seen them before this trip so it was a nice treat.

Finally we females are starting to have some options for equipment that fits us. I bought this pack prior to my 4-day scouting trip and then used it for 9 days over my WT hunt. I must say I almost didn't buy it because it had pink on it. I still don't get why we must have pink on our camo, but it's nothing a little black sharpie can't take care of. Anyhow this backpack is the best pack I've ever owned and can't say enough about it. It is comfortable! No back pain and no shoulder pain. Just about felt like I wasn't wearing a pack (just about...LOL). I thought I'd share this info because for too many years I've worn men's packs that have never fit quite right and caused discomfort. It wasn't the cheapest, but it is a well-built COMFORTABLE pack! The only negative I could find is it could have more pockets, but I can never have enough pockets to hold all my stuff.

It's a decent sized day pack (not huge and not small). When I hunt, I'm gone from sunup to sundown. It held everything I needed plus an extra jacket. Of course it has straps galore, which always come in handy. I had a Kelty before this one and I used that one for at least 4-5 years. Below is what I found online about it. I say those "women-specific" shoulder straps are simply marvelous and my husband was a little envious that his back was sweating and mine wasn't. I didn't think I'd like the frame, but I do a lot especially when the pack is full in the morning. Women-specific shoulder straps, waistbelt and a back-cooling Hypervent suspension system make this pack the female hunter’s first choice. A heat-treated steel frame teamed with extremely durable and quiet KXO-32 fabric delivers support and balance. Four compartments and six pockets organize gear. Accommodates bow, rifle and a 105-oz. hydration reservoir (not included). Imported. Dimensions: 22"H x 14"W x 8"D. Weight: 2 lbs. 14 oz. Capacity: 2,500 cu. in.

3 bulls on a late hunt in 6a is pretty good if you ask me. Late hunts are hard. keep on looking. The elk haven't moved much yet so they are still in their typical locations (at least what I've seen and I just got back from 9 days in 6a on my whitetail hunt). We leave end of week to head up to 6a for my husband's archery bull hunt. We will be hunting the upper part of the unit because the bulls are still there.

Congrats to your daughter on a nice deer !

I'm using 130 grain federal vital shock BT in my 270. I have re-loads, but I ended up liking the federal better. I'm grouping within a few inches at 200 yards. I've been to the range four times now. Yesterday I went to the range one last time and I only took a few shots - just needed final confirmation that everything is where it should be. I tend to be a little anal about my equipment, but that is the one thing I do have control over in the field.

Dang I thought that was an elk for a moment! That buck is crazy!

I remember when we saw our first badger a couple years ago. It was waddling as fast as it could down the road in front of us and would NOT leave the road. We had to figure out what it was because neither one of us had seen one before. Their coloring is beautiful!

Looks like you found their bedroom!

Poacher Ruined my hunt - still upset
naturegirl replied to Rifle2Bow's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I agree and think that you must report it asap with all info you have. G&F is good about following up on poachers.
