I've been there a couple times and haven't caught a thing (a few years ago or so). But I know people who have caught fish there so they are there. It's just a little tough catching them.

10's. I carry them with me at all times and use on a tripod when needed for farther distances. My husband has 15s. He will use mine every time if I'm not going.

Congrats to all who have been drawn so far! I'll keep watching. I didn't expect to be drawn for sheep or a premo coues hunt, but I'll be after deer with my bow regardless.

Leave a note. We've done it with trail cameras in the past and it worked well. I have hunted one area for about 5 years. There have been 2 tree stands up for the better part of that 5 years in the same trees year after year. I crossed through the area earlier this year and they are there again, but now are falling apart. I feel that I have earned the right to hunt that trail too if that is what I wanted to do, but I'd first leave a note. If it belongs to who I think it does, I know he'd share it if he wasn't using it. I'm mixed on what I'd do if the person was unwilling to work with me though because he doesn't own that trail. In your case, I'd leave a note. If the note doesn't work, I'd look into finding another spot. It's just not worth the fight in my opinion. People can get downright nasty.

Me - Coues Husband - Elk I pretty much consider it a donation, but we do know someone who won the mule deer tag years ago.

The toads just started coming out in my area this past week. They know it's coming.

AGFD news What would you think of a new online club for hunters?
naturegirl replied to AGFD News's topic in News from Arizona Game and Fish Dept.
Thank you for the recap. It's very true that more of us should attend these meetings, myself included. My thoughts keep going back to hunter recruitment. I think it is up to us, the people out in the field hunting and fishing, to expose other people to the outdoors. My husband & I have introduced many people over the years to hunting and fishing. This ranges from kids to adults. I myself fall into this category and it was truly because of my continued GOOD exposure to hunting that I started hunting myself. A couple weeks ago, we took a family to the lake with us. This was a first for the children (6 of them). One of the children's words exactly was " I feel like I'm in a different state on vacation." I thoroughly enjoyed watching the kids enjoy themselves and I enjoyed sharing some of my knowledge with them about various mountains, fish, sheep, eagles, etc. I believe the best chance we have for recruitment is ourselves and how we positively present hunting and fishing to others. I don't need early access to draw results. I think it's fun watching my checking account for days. I truly feel like a kid at Christmastime. . I don't need to turn my tag in. If I can't make my hunt, then the tag gets wasted unless I donate it and that animal I may have tagged gets to keep on keeping on. I think our state system should be equal for all and not provide any advantages to people who pay money because hunting is expensive enough. Is there an approximate range of what this type of program may cost a person to join? -
If it's in the middle top above the big green tree it looks like it could be a dead head. I swear I see a skull and another side of antlers. Maybe I'm seeing things after looking a second time. I walk and I find almost nothing.

The time shooting seems like a lot to me. This helps me a lot. I practice long shots first. I always get better results when going from 50 to 40 to 30 to 20 than the other way around and of course after doing 50 yards, the rest seem easy. I'd also say if it's in your head that it is the pin color, mark your pins and switch them around. See what happens and then you will know if it's the color or not.

I don't believe I'm a bear hunter yet. We haven't decided for sure on my other half who does want a bear because he's getting his knee worked on at the end of July and he may be limited to ground blind or tree stand hunting and this spot is tough to get to. He is a pretty bear. I would like to see his full body, but the bears repeatedly assaulted our camera. Maybe next time.

I found a spring a few months ago, but it looks like it's loaded with bears and bulls, which aren't on the menu this year. The first pic I'm guessing is a young bear or a female (large ears and what a snout!). Thoughts? The third pic looks like a big male (big head little ears). Am I heading in the right direction with learning more about bears? Had to throw in the bobcat pic because it's my first from up north. My thoughts on this spring are bears love it and bulls frequent it almost daily, but I haven't seen one cow elk or deer. Time to move the camera after the next card check.

I believe the character of a person and who they are on the inside is more important than having the same religious views. If you can get both, the relationship will be easier.

They didn't get it from here. I've had in person, email, and phone contact with a couple of them before about various things. They put two and two together. Most of my experiences with G&F have been good ones. Im OK with it although was a little surprised. But this stuff about the online hunting club...I don't get it. Just doesn't make much sense to me. I've heard it's being bashed pretty good so hopefully it is just an idea and will go no further. -

Curious. Has anyone else been contacted by G&F because of posts on CWT? I was recently and was a little surprised, but it's all good nonetheless. -
I'm sorry for your losses. They sound like wonderful mentors. Their teachings are a part of you and will be with you forever.

Running into hunters with dogs?
naturegirl replied to couesdeerhntr's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I've hunted in areas with bears for years and only a couple times have I come across hounds. I'm guessing it depends on where you hunt, but with what I've seen over the years I would stay away from canyons. -
I used to carry a camera around with me before I started hunting. I tried at first to do both hunting and photos, but I found I could not successfully do either trying to do both (at least not yet). Going through old photos kind of gives me the bug again. I've never been big on equipment so please pardon the quality and I have not had time to edit them so most are as they were taken. Actually I guess some are old, some are new, and something have nothing to do with hunting. The ram was taken a couple days ago.

I didn't know what kind it was. I know only a couple types of owls. I find these in the desert flats typically by washes.

FYI - Olmos1010 informed me he's keeping the GPS and it's no longer for sale.

It was nice meeting you Casey. Thank you for helping us out! Job well done

Ouch! That sucks! I've been through similar situations the last 2 out of 3 archery seasons but for a broken wrist with hardware and now a rotator cuff tear. The best advice I can give is LISTEN to your doctor, do what the doc says, and do the therapy. This year's hunt isn't worth hurting the rest of your life. I know it's easier said than done, but I believe if you let things heal properly now, you'll have a much better long-term outcome.

Oh my! My jaw just hit the floor. That is an absolutely awesome buck! Congrats on a VERY VERY cool find

I didn't know about the sunflower mine being gone. I haven't been back there in about 5 years. That's sad. It was an absolutely beautiful drive. The "get shot" sign is outside Show Low. I love it! The sign is quite clear. I'll never go ask them to borrow sugar The ram was up this one ewe's rear. A couple times he started like he was gonna get on her, but never did. I seriously thought my daughter was going to get a National Geographic moment..lol When is mating season for sheep? FYI - The fire boat was taken during the Stephen Siller Memorial Run in New York City. He was a fire fighter who did everything in his power to get back to the city to assist during 9/11 and lost his life. The run/walk re-traced his footsteps as he fought his way to the towers. Toward the end of the run, everyone goes through Battery Tunnel where there was a family member or comrade holding a picture of each first responder that was lost. It was a very humbling experience.

19 years ago my family lost my brother to suicide. Today would've been his 36th birthday. I'm thinking of you little bro. He was just learning the love of hunting. To all out there - please know that suicide is never the answer and to those on the other side, take people seriously when they make a threat. This is something that cannot be reversed.
