Climate Change: Polar Bears and Snow Geese

The polar bears are adapting to the available food source. Adaption is the key to a species survival.

I'm fine and no one has threatened me here ever just want to make sure that is clear. Thank you for looking out for me, but there were no threats or anything of that sort. None, zero, nada. Good luck on the gun sale Cool looking little gun.

    Quail season is coming

I think it will be a good quail year with the way I've watched them reproduce around my place this year. I have a bird dog who is semi-retired. I prefer quail hunting without a dog though. I too like to wait until it is a little cooler though Last year I was surprised on my Coues hunt in middle to south 6a when quail starting calling all around me. I didn't realize they were up that high.

    Found dead bull in 4b

That's me folks... Nature chick blocked me...but still unblocks me every once and awhile to send me PMs... lmao You really should learn to read my PMs better. I explained it all there months ago, but I'd be happy to do it now if you'd like. I blocked you because I felt like you were repeatedly attacking me. I don't need that type of stuff in my life. You may enjoy it, but I don't. I unblocked you because you had information that was valuable to me. I left you unblocked after that. That's how the block feature works on CWT. You can block just people's posts or their posts and their private messages. It's a good feature. I would prefer to have the option of blocking someone rather than leaving CWT altogether.

    Ever seen one like this?

Wish it was what I saw this summer, but its not. Awesome pic! Thanks for sharing.

    Found dead bull in 4b

If all else fails and the two can't stop arguing, then there is a wonderful option that Amanda put into CWT that allows you to block users. I personally have used this on one occasion because I found myself getting too flustered with someone else's antics. You know who you are I come here for hunting knowledge - not the other stuff, but even saying that it's hard sometimes to sit quiet and not respond, but in the end I usually feel better NOT getting into a typing match with someone I don't even know. Finding the owner of the bull is what is important at this point - however that happens is good in my book. Not every lost bull is because people don't practice or don't take good shots. Sometimes it happens no matter how prepared you are just like it did to me.
  8. Seen them in 4a before years ago, but it was in the protected area. It was my first time seeing them and I didn't know what they were. I had to look them up to figure it out. I got pretty close on foot. They didn't seem too bright in my opinion compared to other birds. Very cool to see though.

    Found dead bull in 4b

I'm a firm believer in following rules, but I've also lost a bull and would've appreciated any help I could get trying to find him. If you've ever lost an animal, you know the feeling. What about posting here and calling it in to G&F? What they do with the info after you call it in you have no control over, but you did your part is how I look at it.

Need opinions on a new sidearm

Thanks all for the great advice! My next question is do you know any good instructors on the east side? This is for myself who knows some and female family members who know nothing, but want to learn. This is something I'm asked often and have no recommendations for.

    My First Elk

That is one fine bull! Congrats
  12. Since my Yorkie died last year, the rabbit population is exploding at my house. I watched someone on TV catching them with a little wire snare and I would like to try it. Does anyone know the legality of using a rabbit snare on private land? What about public land? If it's legal, has anyone tried it successfully?
  13. As the time gets closer, I'm doing more research for my upcoming hunt. The best research so far was taking a trip back to Illinois for a wedding a couple weeks ago. The picture below is what it looks like from the plane. I've watched plenty of hunting shows from back east, but until I was able to get my own visual I really couldn't grasp it and my 10-year-old brain wasn't interested in hunting the last time I stepped foot in the state. I know Illinois has farms, but there are literally farms EVERYWHERE! I think the farms are absolutely beautiful in their own right, but there are very few areas that allow public hunting and then there can be a waiting list, areas where only so many people are allowed into at a time, etc. Yuck! I knew right away that wasn't for me. Our plan is to hunt down south in Shawnee National Forest. It's some very pretty country and I look forward to being a part of it. This is where I was pretty shocked. I thought Shawnee looked big on a paper map, but here's the details: Shawnee Natl Forest - 280,000 acres Coconino Natl Forest - 1,856,000 acres Tonto Natl Forest - 2,873,200 acres Shawnee National Forest is the BIGGEST public land area in the state and it is still intermingled with private land throughout. I for one am happy that Arizona has so much open space for outdoor enthusiasts. I know we all have complaints at times, but if you look at the alternative, we have it pretty darn good here as far as public access to large swaths of land. I've got maps to order ASAP!

Need opinions on a new sidearm

Recoil usually isn't an issue with me. It's the mechanics of when things go wrong that I don't like with my LCP. I want it to shoot when I want it to shoot. I've tried factory ammo, hand loads, and I don't think I have ever gotten through a practice session without it jamming at least once. I 100% always have bear mace with me in the higher elevations. It is a standard attached to the outside of my pack that I can reach, but does on occasion end up in my hand when I know I'm going through where I know bears are. I would prefer to use the mace if I had the choice. I actually bought a new can this year because I wasn't sure if it expired or not and I've had the can for awhile. Seriously I worry more about men than bears, but you have to give lions and bears their due respect. I've come across only one group of really, really shady people over the years and all I had was my bow. It was many years ago, but ever since I've never went out alone without a sidearm. It was enough of a lesson for me. I'm specifically asking for a self-defense gun to carry while I'm hunting.

    One Month (updated with pics)

You will be a great dad My biggest advice is to include her in your adventures. I look back at my youth and for the first 6 years I was exposed to the boy world because all my friends were boys, then we moved here and I got stuck with girl friends (lol), and it took me another 30+ years to make it back. I believe if my exposure was there in the beginning, it would've been my lifestyle all along. With that being said, just because you are a hunter does not mean she will be, but if you teach her to love the outdoors, there is a whole other world that goes along with it. Just because we are females, we can do most anything you guys can especially in the field. Teach her self-confidence, how to take care of herself, and that carries over into all aspects of her life. It also will help because your wife also enjoys the outdoors. My youngest was hunting with me as she grew inside me, then she was in a pack, and now on foot. She still isn't fond of killing, but just the other day she did say "Mom, next time you go hunting I want to go with you." That works for me! I try my best to keep things at her level when she's with me. I took her kayaking the other night with her Cinderella pole. No fish were caught, but she was very good at casting Of course we played on the beach before and after. If I took her and just kayaked, she'd be bored to death so I mix it up for both of us. Here's my girl. And remember this can come on at anytime.

Coming from a person who steals other hunters stuff that means a lot. Yeah that's me a theif! Me the ultimate steward of our land...LOL Sorry Lance, but you need to be a little nicer sometimes and not such a bully. I could care a rat's butt if I misspell a word here and I don't see the point in you correcting me or anyone since it's not an English class my friend

I've been going solo for about a year now. it's not that difficult - just requires extra planning and thought.

    Zipper on my tent broke

I started the process of replacing one myself years ago. It was a major pain and I never finished it. I'd recommend hiring someone.

AzLance is the self-appointed CWT spelling police now. Seriously. It's not an English forum. The kid needs to be remorseful and also needs to know all the rules & regs before he shoots something. It will be a lesson learned for him. I'd ask to reschedule the hearing. Don't need to give them a reason why except it's here online now. Edge - LMAO.
