I heard them in my neighbors trees at 5 am this morning so I've been watching. About 7:15 I see one walking my back property line. I make my play and quickly get 20 yards from them. They have no idea I'm there. There are 2 big ones keeping watch and 3 other smaller ones playing. This went on for a good five minutes while I stood watching them have a grand ol' time rolling around with each other. Why was I only watching? My neighbors dog was running his property line barking not 10 yards behind the yotes along with about 20 horses. Crafty little creatures they are. All I needed was for one of the five to walk to the left just a couple yards. I will admit they were fun to watch and that's the closest I've been to that many at once. On the other hand, if you were driving around this morning and happened to see a lady out in a field in pajamas with a camo jacket following coyotes - it wasn't me!

They were back again, but this time it was my dog they were tormenting midday. The dang thing just stood there staring at my big lab while she was barking away. I grab my little dog and head into the house (the coyote literally stood there and watched me). I grab my equipment and head into my neighbors trees. This totally made me feel like I was in Illinois hunting the field cuts again. I saw them a couple times and finally had them about 50 yards and I missed THREE times. Oh so embarrassing, You would think they would get tired of having projectiles hurled at them, but they seem to keep coming back for more. Now I know where their bed is in the neighbor's trees.

So I did decided to upgrade my tires from the street tires it came with. I asked Discount not to tighten the lug nuts too much and explained why. The answer was they have to tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturers specs or risk lawsuits. I said okay then the minimum spec. The point of this is to NOT need assistance from another person. We never know what type of person will stop to help. 99.9% of the time it's not a problem, but the other 0.1% is a gamble. I just heard a story yesterday about two men help another man change a tire out in the sticks. The man being helped also didn't know that animals such as mountain lions or bears live in the area. Funny.

Very good job! Good idea on the duck sling

Plant a lot of trees (and I mean a lot of trees) and the coyotes will come. I do not use game cameras any longer, but I've been tracking them and am catching on. They come in at night to eat the birds, rabbits, and chickens. They like to head back across the road before 730 am. . Stray house cats seem to be pretty smart around here or lucky. Twice I've had solo yotes less than 20 yards in front of me right outside my front door in the last couple months. I live on property on the outskirts of the valley. A field around here was fenced a year or so ago and since then they have taken up residence on the big parcel of land. I was completely ready and have all neighbors permission, but the angle was no good with horses and a dog RIGHT behind the pack. The poor dog was just being tormented while the yotes played just on the other side of his fence. Looks like the pups are big enough now they are taking them out. It's the first time I've seen them. I'm pretty sure it won't be the last. I was in a hurry to get out the door. I had no range finder or calls. I was lucky I remembered the jacket. I did just go back out with my range finder and it was 25 yards.

Great advice Amanda and I totally agree about dad's teaching their daughters. The biggest thing is make them do it on their own from start to finish with only words of instruction and not physically helping them.

Her smile when she completed it says it all.

I will admit that I did not know prior to this experience that Fix A Flat can be used on truck tires. I've only ever seen it used on ATV tires so I just assumed it wasn't for vehicle tires. Guess I should have read the directions on the can I had at home in the garage..lol

Definitely my thoughts behind this. I did not have to change the tire at all. There was no need except to buy me a couple days to decide if I want to upgrade my tires. The name of the game was to make myself do it from start to finish. I was just a tad upset when I thought I would have to ask for help on the lug nuts, but then the 4-way worked except rolling my ankle somehow and punching myself in the jaw once when a couple nuts finally came loose. I did read warnings on Google about bodily injury when they release, but until it happens you just can't predict it. It was pretty funny. I have been sharing my story with every female driver I know and not a single one expressed an ounce of enthusiasm about the thought of changing a tire.

Determining the value of guns and reloading equipment.

Giving me a place to start. Thank you. -
I'm going on my fourth year of buying my 22-year-old son his annual hunting/fishing license as a Christmas gift. I personally cannot think of a better gift for someone who enjoys hunting and fishing. Sure makes me feel good knowing I provided this for him and of course he likes it because he doesn't have to pay for a license and gets to hunt & fish for the year.

Hunting/Fishing License as a Christmas Gift
naturegirl replied to naturegirl's topic in The Campfire
I really wanted to post this before now but there's still time. my son is just starting his life and funds are tight. Anything to help keep the older "kids" hunting and fishing. PS Walmart in Gilbert told me they were not allowed to sell the 2015 license til Jan 1st so I got him gift cards and he can buy it. The associate didn't understand why and I didn't feel like going to G&F. -
Found this one on the ground. I thought maybe a rodent eating it like corn on the cob...lol Found this one off the ground about 1.5-2 feet in another area. As much as I'm always checking things out, I'm surprised I've never seen (or noticed) this before.

So relieved to hear that TJ is doing okay and the tests show no internal injuries. Please everyone be careful on the ATVs when out and about. -
You kick butt with a bow A big congratulations for weeding out a predator. Sounds very exciting & intense! I can't wait to see one in the wild someday.

TJ - My prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. Please update us when you can. Christina -
I thought that, but it seemed a little higher up than where they normally eat. They are usually messier eaters too leaving a mess all over and this wasn't the case.

Excellent read! It was fascinating watching from year one through 12 years. Interesting how he gained and lost points throughout the years. I felt like I was watching one of my dogs through the aging process and wondering when he will be taken out of his misery toward the end. The bucks weight was almost half at the end of his life than it was in his prime.

And I thought you were posting YOUR yearbook picture in this post...lol

bummer I've seen that before. Oops. It sure would make a nice Christmas card if you ask me...LOL

I honestly thought deer on the 2nd one too because of the height. I've just never seen them eating this cactus before. Typically it's cholla berries they are looking for in this area since it's filled with them. Thanks RSCHAUMB I was specifically wondering if anyone has seen a deer eat this type of cactus. It's a new one to me.

It makes all the difference in the world to have good glass. I hunted for years with starter binos, but once I upgraded I will NEVER go back. I now see all kinds of stuff I couldn't see before especially in shadows, darker light, etc.
