My husband and I believe this is a crested barrel cactus but can't say for sure. There were no saguaros around but there were other barrel cacti.

    Southern Arizona Wildlife Callers

There has been a fire at the Three Points range and the range is closed to the public until further notice. this means no club shoot this month. At this time we do not have an estimate of how long the range will be closed as the damage was extensive. The office is a total loss and the electricity is out to the whole range.

Anyone see something like this before?

My husband and I saw an elk like that a few years back in the Springerville area around Pat's Knoll. He was bedded in a small dip so we were only able to glass his head. It took us quite a while to figure that one out until he finally stood up.

    New to Grandparenting

My husband and I recently gained a 4 year old grandson (son's girlfriend's son) and we love this grandparenting thing. Fabian kept saying he wanted to go get deer with Nana Deb and Papa Sam so all who know me knows I'm taking full advantage of this. Here are photos of some of Fabian's outdoor adventures. Last month we all went camping in the Williams area. I brought along my son's old toy gun for Fabian to pretend hunting. I also made him up a little fishing/hunting license. Then this past weekend My husband and I took Fabian on an overnight trip to the Eager/Alpine area. I believe we have a future hunter in the making!!! At least I'm working on it.

    New to Grandparenting

I took Fabian back up to the high country yesterday and today to pick up my daughter from camp. As we were driving roads, looking for wildlife, I hear Fabian say ever so calmly from the back seat "Where are we? Let me look at the map and see." as he had a map in hand. Too hilarious and what a bright 4 year old he is. Granted he couldn't read the map but he had a purpose for one.

    BEAR VISITED OUR CABIN

That is so cool! You are fortunate. If I lived in a place like that I might not ever leave home except to go hunting of course. I love just watching wildlife.

The bull was outside of the Grand Canyon, a no hunting area. I couldn't believe how close we got. Of course it's looks even closer since I had the camera zoomed in.

TJ, yes Kenna loves having Fabian in our family. She told someone he was her "grandson". We had to introduce the word "nephew" to her.

Thank you. I guess I didn't learn a thing in talking with the lady from G&F. I repeated what I understood back to her for verification and she verified my understanding. I will definitely look at the AZGFD page. My apologies to all for my misunderstanding.

Well I learn something new everyday. I thought I knew how the draw worked but I obviously didn't know. In talking with G&F today I found out there are multiple draws. This part I knew but what I didn't know was for those who were drawn in the first draw they only look at the first choices. For those drawn in the second draw only the second choices are looked at. The first choice means nothing in the second draw. It's not even looked at. And so on with the other draws, third draw-third choice etc. I did not think to ask about what happens when a person drawn for a draw had a choice where all the tags were already taken. Do they then go to the next choice? All these years this is how I thought the draw worked. If you were drawn they looked at your first choice. If those were all taken then they looked at your next choice and on and on up to your third choice. Your suggestions above about putting your first and second choices the same sure makes a lot of sense now that I know how it works. Thanks for the suggestion.

We got drawn for our second choice in javelina but yet their are extra tags for our first choice!!!!!! I first thought I must have miss ordered our hunt choices when putting in for the draw but in checking my receipt I had the hunt numbers in the correct order. How does one get their second choice when there are extra tags still? The rest of our hunting party all got our first choice. I'll try to call G&F today to see why this happened and if any way to get our first choice.
