Went Back out to the the same area this morning and saw 30-35 deer and not a single buck! :/ Maybe it will happen next month!

Great Deer! I have been on a couple nice ones this archery season but couldn't get it done! These deer are tricky!

If you are going up the biosphere road there is what looks like someone started to build a housing development but only got the street done! Any way the Gate stays open I'm pretty sure and if you back in there it dead ends at a culdesac there is a power line road that goes up a hill and looks over some great country went scouting there one day and it looked good!

Went out to 36b this morning in hope of filling my archery tag! Saw around 40 does and 3 bucks! The morning started out kind of strange we were glassing for about 30 minutes and had found a couple small groups of does when all of the sudden I look o my left and there were 2 does and 2 fawns feeding right towards the road 40 yards from me! THere ended up being about 10 deer in this group, that had a small spike with them! I shot at the spike at 63 yards and missed. Can you say buck fever first time archery hunting and first shot at a deer gets you going! Glassed some other hills and found a group of about 9 does that had what looked like a forky with them, but they moved down into the wash to fast to get a good look! We decided to head home for the day and on the way out I saw some does feeding on a hill 350 yards away! We got out of the car glassed them and couldn't tell if there was a buck with them so we got the spotting scope out. 5 minutes into watching them the 2 does on the far left starting acting strange and kept looking behind them! Sure enough this nice 4x4 with a sticker on the right side came out! He was rutting hard moving from one doe to another! I made my stalk got within 80 yards of where I last saw them and they had disappeared? I kept looking down into the wash when all of the sudden a doe 30 yards to my right busted then the other 14 does busted up the other hillside at 80 yards The buck never showed itself again not sure where he went but it was great to finally see a mature buck rutting hard! saw 2 small coues bucks chasing around 3 does this morning in mule deer country!

PM Sent!! I was out in 36b again tonight and saw 15 does and 2 bucks a spike and a forky. I can never seem to find any decent sized bucks they are all yearlings! lol I always see bucks but they are small!

I understand I didnt expect you to just wanted to kind of know about that area thanks!

Where by saddle brooke? I have always wanted to try and hike over and hunt right off the main road about a quarter mile in those hills look good! Do you hunt there or do you go all the way through?

Well it is archery season and I have the week off due to it being Christmas, so I thought Id go out and try to stick a deer! My dad and I planned on camping and hunting the Buenos Aires Refuge all 3 days but after seeing around 60 deer and not a single buck we left half way through the second day!:/ We went to try a new spot this morning and what a change. Only saw 10 deer but 2 of them were bucks! The first was a spike on one side and had a little fork on the other; The second buck was a decent Forky and I would not have even thought about not shooting him! Got busted once I got within 100 yards to the 2nd buck will be back out there come Monday! Here are some Pics: 3 Does bedded at around 80 yards on the refuge! A Doe and a fawn we saw 100 yards off the road this morning! This is the second Buck! My dad glassed Him up in his Bed!

Thanks a lot do you usually see deer in this area as well?

I Have hunted off of rail x Which I know is a very popular area but anyways I went pretty far down the road and was having a hard time seeing any deer! Then one day I decided to pull off at the first spot hike over a hill and start glassing. Wouldnt you know it at last light a nice 4x4 mule deer comes walking right over the hill following to does and running a forky off. Never saw him again! They are in there you just have to be in the right spot at the right time!

Where in 33 do you hunt? I Hunt off rail x ranch road in 37a and have seen some really nice bucks in there! The only thing is there are not many deer in there but when you find them there big! One mule deer unit I like for mulies is 36b!

Has anyone hunted the red springs pass area in the middle of the tumacacori mountains near the upper puerto/red springs tanks! We accessed it by a hunters access road off of the Chavez Siding exit while bow-hunting mule deer! We saw 3 coues in the middle of the day and like 15 javis. Just wondering if anyone has ever hunted it because the road is really well maintained, But we didn't see anybody up there!

Saw 2 more bucks this morning and around 12 does! One was by itself (It was a tiny spike) but it was to far to even get close with a bow. The other buck (a forky) was with a group of 5 does; We got within 100 yards and the deer were feeding right towards us I really thought it was going to happen when all of the sudden the lead doe stops out of know where and stares straight at us at around 80 yards! I have no idea how she saw us we didn't move or anything! Tricky little deer to hunt!

You and me both! Got close a couple times but man those deer have some eyes!

So here is the deal saw a nice 4x4 and forky with some does at last light last night! I decided I would just sneak out of there undetected and go back tonight (since I had to work this morning) and see if he is there! Once you locate a buck do they usually stay in the same area or do they have a big home range! Please any info is appreciated! Really want this buck he is at least 28" Wide and probably 140" First year bowhunting and seeing a buck like that and not finding him again will do things to a man!

thanks for the advice donniedent my Dad and I found 4 or 5 groups of does within a 1/4 mile of each other and there were 4 bucks all together but they were moving from herd to herd! hopefully there will be a nice one with them this weekend!

There are no bucks left in 36B no one should ever want to hunt that unit again. Don't even bother putting in for it What ever you say big guy!

Saw 30-35 does and fawns and 4 bucks 2 spikes, a small forky and a nice forky one spike was with a herd of 10 or so does and the other 3 bucks were all around two does! Got within 80 yards but got busted before I could get to my comfortable 60 yard shot Going back out for 3 days next week maybe something a little bigger will pop out wont surprise me!
