Howdy. I hunted javelina in 30A last year and it seemed like a very safe unit. From Bowie I took Apache Pass to Happy Camp Canyon and camped at the base of the rocky foothills near the picnic site. There was no sign of illegals or smuggling or anything like that. My only complaint was how windy it was. Make sure your tent is well staked. As for deer, I glassed up a buck and doe from the big rocks right of the road. Hope this helps.
