Trapping catalog uses one of my pictures with out permission
Tines replied to bowhuntaz1's topic in The Campfire
I'm not a fan of turning a picture into a huge advertisement like some have done but you can now have a small appreciation as to why they do it. My wife is a photographer and although she hates slapping her name on all of the pics because it can be distracting, she's been taken advantage of too many times when she didnt. X3 with redman. Cool animal! -

Why can't I find any information on classes offered in Tucson?? Mesa, PHX and Flagstaff can't be the only ones being offered. I think I'd like my daughter to do the classroom class as well. I think she'll learn better with it being hands on. Thanks for the info in advance (if anyone knows..)

No worries about it getting "side-tracked". Thanks for all of the info, guys. BigTub: Thank you and I'll look into Mammoth.

Newbie for coues needing a little help
Tines replied to cvitech2's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
If I'm understanding you, you want to hunt wt and your buddies want to hunt mule deer? You'll have a difficult time doing that as a crew since the two hunts don't coincide. It's been several years since both deer hunts started at the same time down here. Either put in for the same species or plan on hunting at different times. Kinda defeats the purpose of putting in "together". -
I think Devin pretty much summed it up. To echo him, it's all about the tags... Too many tags to sustain a consistent amount of giant bucks. At least to reach their potential anyway. The commercialization of Coues deer, optics and guys pushing it more and more will always make it tougher for a genetically superior buck to reach his potential. BUT........they're out there. Year after year.... The biggest buck I killed was aged at 5+. He scored 127" I shot a 100" 3x2 that was aged at 8. I also shot a 90" buck, that although I never had him aged, had every bit the characteristics of the 8yr old...and then some! A friend of mine shot a GIANT AZ buck back in 1999, I believe. It grew 30 INCHES that year!! Scored in the 150's. He never had it aged but he figured 6 or so. I'll say the magical age is 5 (if his genetics support it). I've always wondered this: When a buck "tops out" and reaches his prime, did he grow the most inches that year when compared to others? If he was a 90" buck at 3.5, 102" at 4.5 and 110" at 5.5, then my theory is debunked. His biggest growth was between 3.5-4.5. But every buck is different, I guess. But back to my buddies 150+ buck. It's hard to imagine he ever grew more than 30" any other year... Let's hear it from the hard-core shed hunters who've ground checked their bucks!!

Based on the angle of the deer to the camera, sure looks like a quartering shot to me. If its legit, anyway. Might be a tad high as well. Just attests to how tough these critters can be.

I have the sierras. Great sole!

The air bob soles are the worst soles for AZ. They work great for pheasant hunting in Nebraska though.

I had mine re-crafted at Danner last year. Debbie in their re-crafting department was great to work with. I thought they did a nice job on my boots. I basically had them re-craft everything but the leather. I hesitated spending the $180+ on them but these boots retailed for $320+. And they originally lasted me 4 seasons- much longer than any other boot I wore. So I bit the bullet. I will say that I don't believe they're "basically brand new". They come back re-soled, stitched, heel, toe and shank all re-enforced. I feel like I do a pretty good job at taking care of my boots but these seem to be wearing out MUCH faster than the original pair- especially the stitching. I'm in the process of working with Debbie to see if there's something they can do since it's only been a year since I got them back. But here's the before and after picture.

Oh, we've digressed for sure.

Great buck! Looks mummified.

This is an interesting picture. This is just my opinion, too. But if he is 120"+ then this is probably one of the worst ways to showcase it in a still photo. Let's face it, MB kills some big critters. And they're far from rookies when it comes to taking a field photo either. So I'd venture to say, for whatever reason, this wasn't their first choice in a field photo. Lying down next to the buck with your head and shoulders as close (if not closer) to the camera than the bucks' will surely make the buck look smaller. But we weren't there so it's hard to say why they chose it. Maybe the poor fella had zero flexibility or painful joints so sitting or kneeling behind the buck wasn't an option. I've been behind the camera during those times and as frustrating as it can be to get the perfect picture, sometimes it's just impossible. And for the record, I gain NOTHING from making this buck as big as they say it is. Just saying we've all been surprised by pictures when they don't give the animal the "justice" it deserves. Some big bucks are photogenic.....some aren't.

Dirty tactics once again from the AZGFD! Now you'll know why to never trust them

This is sad. For what it's worth, I don't believe there's a law against signing a transportation tag over to someone who's going to care for your animal the following day if you can't make it out. Then again, I THOUGHT I knew the regs until I was reading some of the supervisors' statements in the affidavit!! Obviously, when I say "care for your animal", I don't mean track it down with a couple of other buddies and fling arrows at it until it dies from exhaustion! There wouldn't be an issue if the mafioso who took the bulls knee-caps out and "mercifully" slit it's throat would have just entered the field without a weapon and tagged the deceased animal the next morning. "Finishing off" an animal for someone else has NEVER been acceptable. The department makes that clear in the regulations (yet somehow seriously dropped the ball on this one). Too bad -

Great pack in great condition. Only used a few times but never abused. Asking $150. I'm located in Tucson. Thanks

I don't see how ANY published success rates are accurate with the current system. On the bright side, no more archery deer reporting!! We're moving forward...

Jeremiah, Give me a call. Most people won't be too descriptive or helpful on line. You'll understand as you get older. they have no idea you're 16yrs old just trying to figure things out. I'll hook you up. But only because you have the sweetest last name around...

Big congrats to everyone! Especially Stan. Wow. Wish I could have been there.

Question of the Day
Tines replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
News flash to the father: you obviously didn't know your sons very well. Your older son is dead because he killed/maimed innocent Americans with a bomb, killed a cop and got into a shoot out with more cops. Pretty obvious why he's dead and was not taken "alive". More than likely your younger son is going to end up in the same place. And last time I checked, framing practicing Muslims is the exact opposite of what our CURRENT govt would do. I'm kinda surprised we used real bullets and didnt lose 15 more cops in an effort to read them their rights as IED's and bullets were flying past our heads... -
Which two bulls? The two on the front page of the elk hunting page?
