    How Do You Practice

Like Bownut, I have to constantly remind myself that I'm still getting over target panic. This is what helped me. I took my sight off and just shot into bails for a long time until I was no longer "aiming" at something. In turn, I had nothing to force me to anticipate my shot. I had to shoot a lot to break my bad habits. Don't give up and good job for acknowledging you punch the trigger. Most shooters are punchers (even those who say they don't). There are some out there who are controlled punchers and shoot quite well. The last thing I did and continue to do is talk to myself before the shot. I say simple things like "pick a spot" and "don't screw this up like last time!" It was a natural thing to punch the trigger when it was where I wanted to hit. Now (most of the time) wherever I hit, that's where I happened to be holding when my release lets go. If that makes sense. Good luck and keep shooting!
  2. Awesome pictures! Awesome buck! I can't wait to draw a tag in this state!

    Ruger trigger work

My brother spoke with a guy up north (white mountains) area and he said he can do it. When you mentioned it's case-hardened, does that mean you'd have to grind on it? This guy said there's a "screw-type" adjustment on the later models. I don't know. This is why I shoot Remington.

    I'm thinkin' of buying here!!!

Love that sign also! Too bad there's no coues deer where it's located!
  8. I'm guessing it's the southern portion of 36B and you're nuts for picking that thing up!
  9. No problem. There was also a tag in the evelope that belonged to my buddy's dad that I played baseball with. Small world.

Isn't the Sims recoil pad pretty simple to put on yourself?
  11. Could someone send me the link that used to be in the Wildlife News (G&F website) section regarding carrying a handgun while bowhunting? I can't seem to find it on here anymore. I haven't heard anything more about it, read anything in the new regs nor is the G&F claiming such an article existed. I read it myself from their News. They're asking me to show them where it was stated. Anyone get any clarification on what was posted? It seemed a little odd that they'd post something like that and not address the issue much more. Thanks
  12. I got it, thanks. Last I recieved was an email stating that they'd "found where the directive was issued". But didn't say much after that. Not too willing to fess up to giving out in-accurate info. Imagine all those who break the law from getting wrong info from the dept's employees.
  13. I'm not sure if Amanda likes this (sorry) but I'm in the market for a 25-06. I figured this wouldn't be a bad place to look. If anyone could point me in a good direction, it would be appreciated. I'm sort of partial to Remington but I'll definitely consider other manu's. Thanks Jake

TwoGuns Thanks for the info. I called the guy's down there and they seemed real helpful. I may be heading up to Flagstaff soon so I'll try to stop in. Thanks again.

    WANTED: 25-06

You guys got me all excited when there were some replies...................... only to "let me down" by telling me that you had one- it wasn't for sale- but you loved it! That's okay- glad to see what everyone thinks of the caliber. Those who sent PM's, thank you. I'm sure I'll find one and fall in love with it soon.
  16. DB, How do you like your Minox 15x58's?
  17. Thanks. I've mentioned this to several people and they're all on the same note with this being effective as of immediately (or back in Dec.) Too bad the department and there employees aren't.
  18. Thanks mzlloader. What does it mean to "issue a directive"? Does that mean it's in the works and will soon become law?

I don't own one but I've shot a friends'. It sure is fun!
  20. Hey LC, Them Swaro scopes fog up. They're no good!
  21. azpackhorse, Thanks, Brian. Actually, just before you posted this, I just finished my order of a Badlands 2200. In reality, I would still be using my old pack but I got a gift certificate to Cabelas. They didn't carry Eberelstock. Thanks again for the info, guys. I'm sure I'll be happy with my choice. I'll have to go down to Sportsman's and see what I'm missing out on.
  22. Rick, What bullet were you using out of the .338? I've had pretty good success with mine. I'll be shooting a ballistic tip this year so the bullet does more damage on it's way through. I shot my buck last year, quartering away. The bullet entered the last rib and broke through and lodged on the far shoulder. I can understand your frustration in getting too much penetration. I'm not sure weight retention is of the utmost concern for these coues deer. I do like a little weight when shooting across these canyons.
  23. coueshunter, What's this ebberstock pack you're talking about? I tried to do a search on it and couldn't find anything.
  24. matthewp45, How do you like that Badlands 2200? I'm really considering the pack. The pack I use now is terrible. I hate having to dig through the bottom to get something out. I'm looking for a well-built, well-designed (something with pockets and organization) and real comfortable. There are some I've found that work well for organization but the quality doesn't compare to the Badlands. I HATE how everything falls to the bottom of my pack! Let me know what you all think. Lance, Anytime you shoot a jackrabbit and in turn you find MANY jackrabbits within a 10 yard radius where the impact took place, it's too much of a gun!
