need help packing your game out?
Tines replied to AZLance's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
This is what I do to help. If I find them in the desert, I give them water (and food if I have it available) and call the BP. Most just want to go home anyway when they've reached that point. I call the BP if I see them anywhere else, as well, and give coordinates (although 90% of the agents I've come accross sort of laugh at coordinates if you can read and show them a map!). I called Scottyboy one time and he helped me out as well. Keep the BP number on hand all the time. We're a long ways from fixing this problem. Do everything you can to help the BP. Until we're a drug free country and we're willing to pay $4.00 for a head of lettuce, etc. we'll always have to fight it. -
Stories of Your First Coues Hunts
Tines replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
It took me 3 seasons until I killed my first coues deer (or deer in deneral!) A month before the hunt started, I blew my knee out playing high school football. A cornerback from Salpointe that seriously lacked in tackling skills decided to "try" on me. I guess it sort of worked out for him! I was determined to make it out regardless of my handicap. With a rifle in one hand- and the other hand used to brace myself up the mountain- a torn ACL wasn't going to stop me! My brother and I got to our glassing points just before light. After about 30 minutes of seeing nothing, some hunters accross the canyon shot down into the bottom at a group of 4 bucks. They all ran straight to us- 2 splitting off at the last second and the remaining 2 heading 75 yards in front of us. The first deer to come into full view was a little 2-point. Yeah, like I was going to pass him up! I YANKED the trigger and down he went. I was on top of the world (in more ways than one)!!!!! I didn't care about the 3x4 (not including eye-guards) that was right on his tail and had to step over him after he fell. That's okay, because about 15 seconds later, my brother took him just around the corner. Shortly after that, I found out that it's easier to walk up-hill with bad knees as opposed to down. Especially with a deer on your back! Thanks for starting this, Doug. Brings back some happy times............ even if my professional FB career was "cut short". -
Amanda, I think I have the answer, but wanted to make sure. A friend of mine wants to mount his Leica 10x40's on a tripod so I'm thinking the Velcro version is the only way to go? Thanks Jake

Wow. -
Well, he's had a few more close calls but still hasn't filled the tag. This is the cool part. While glassing about 3/4 mile away, he noticed a doe and fawn being chased by a coyote. It was dead quiet so he threw out a few smooches. The coyote loved every bit of it and forgot about the doe and fawn. The dog covered the distance to about 30 yards and Lance put an arrow through his front shoulder! Coyote dropped like a sack of potatoes! Almost as good as filling your antelope tag!!!!

#%$*&# Camera thief's strike for the 3rd time
Tines replied to Big Browns's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Sorry bro. Maybe he stole your salt and put it somewhere else (but close) since he knows a monster is frequenting the area that likes the taste of your salty block! At any rate, I'd still hunt the area- for both your buck AND the retard who stole your camera -
What a pig!

Did you report that doe? May be some good info for the G&F, regardless of poached or natural causes.

I'd like to hear everyone's take on this. For example. Does it make me a "sport hunter" because I decide to have an animal mounted on my wall? What's your definition of a sport hunter anyway?
-
Funny how people took this as a trap or something of that sort. I just wanted to hear others definition of it.

I found Casey's 2007 36b buck!!
Tines replied to azpackhorse's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Brian, this one may have you beat. (Bottom right, I know he's tough to see!) Or maybe you can wait until she pops and see how big he may be!!! -
Sweet!

This is probably the most often given answer to your question. It may seem pat, but the information you can pull from the AZ Game and Fish Website is fantastic stuff. Venture into those areas, get your scouting in and glass A LOT!!!! Good luck, let us know how you do and welcome to the site! P.S. If you're military, and you'll be here for a while, you ought to check out the hunting Ft. Huachuca has to offer.

I believe that bow was made for Cabelas. Not that it matters

Looks like you need an achery tag in your pocket instead of that Jr. tag!!!!!

Thanks, I've never seen their site before.

Dog Fighting Like Hunting?!?! What?!?!
Tines replied to redline410's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
This is getting deep! I disagree that a dog is soulless. That's an entirely different issue though. What the lawmakers have determined, despite what we feel personally, is a life's worth varies to it's specific species. Interpretation of what hunting is varies amongst even us hunters but our respect for animals shouldn't. -
Dog Fighting Like Hunting?!?! What?!?!

The older I get, the more proud I am to be an American. Ruff, I commend you for sticking to your guns and not "following suit". You make a good point. I agree that the majority fighting Vick are those opposing our "sport" and it's dangerous to give them the support they're looking for. Is dogfighting the issue, or is it the methods of euthanization that takes place as a result of dogfighting? If the electrocution, beating, etc. wasn't in the picture would we regard him as any better of a person? Probably. You guys remember the guy here in Tucson (Three Points) who beat, burned, used to bite and finally RAPE his dog? Not sure what his punishment was but I know he went away for awhile. Sounds like if it wasn't for the abuse and euthanization, it wouldn't be as high profile (other than it being Vick himself). I had this conversation with my wife and she's an absolute dog lover to the bone. I asked her what the difference between this and cockfighting was (regardless of one being legal in some places and the other not at all). Her answer was that dogs play a much more significant role in a human beings life than a chicken does (other than food- for most of the world anyway). If Vick is guilty of all these things, he should pay the consequences- no question. But I do agree that we can't forget about those against our right to hunt and their interpretation of what we call a sport. God Bless America!!!! -
Looks like bonehead did pretty well so far at cleaning up......

Like mentioned earlier, and as time consuming as it will be, you really need to shoot LH.

Last time I drew one of these I just called everyday and eventually my status of "not drawn" was changed to "drawn". Good luck. Where did you put in?

Lance on this site has one. I played around with it. Not sure if I ever actually saw the compensator work. I will say that it wasn't the most user friendly though. I guess I'm not as bright as the Leupold rep thought I was. I've been known to fool someone now and again.....

This is a custom f/glass shell for a Toyota Tacoma (mine is a 2000). It's white, comes with boat rack and clamps. It's used (obviously) but is nice and in working condition: seals fine. There's a small crack (as you see in the pic) just above the top of the back window that happened when the previous owner was taking it off and it fell. It's never bothered it's functionality though. Locking handles on back as well. Only used it a few times since 2002 when I bought the truck. Just not practical for me right now. Figured someone out there could put it to some good use. $225 OBO............
