FALL 2007-JAN 2008 COUES BUCK CONTEST
Tines replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Isn't that the same boy who shot that 115-120" buck last year???? Wow, nice job!!! -
I'll second that!!!

Stanley, I'm sure you meant the EAST side of 286. Just so joe's not confused. Joe, Good luck on your hunt. Finding coues deer in this unit shouldn't be difficult. With youth hunters it's always just getting close enough for the shot and connecting which is the ultimate test. I'm sure you'll do fine. Besides, you can't go wrong with just being out there with him!!!!

I saw this we were hunting in 34A! We were sitting around talking about the days events and one guy says what is that? About the time we all were looking at it the smoke trail puffed out and made a big smoke ring and a light shot across the ski no longer leaving a smoke trail.Got back home and someone told me it was in the paper.Yes it was very cool! Could be all the missle testing being done. I've seen that a few times.

I'm just a youngin' but hearing his voice on the AM radio on Saturday mornings made me smile. He sounded like the grandpa we all wished we had.

Take your boy in there and shoot that buck!!!! Chances are he'll be somewhere close in January if your boy misses. Besides, my son is 18 months. And in 10 years, when he starts hunting, I'd rather him shoot a buck like that long before me!!! Even if it IS his first deer.

I don't think that was implied anywhere in the above posts. BTW, if any animal is harvested with the use of radios it cannot be entered in P&Y, BIA and possibly B&C. I don't think anyone implied it WAS going to be entered. Most people are aware of that law anyway. That's under the assumption they were even used. I'll tell you why I think 8 people were used. You have 1 hunter. Possibly 2 guides. And 5 die hard hunters like ourselves that would love to tag along on a hunt of a lifetime and help someone else out! I'll tell you what, if I drew the raffle coues tag, I can think of 8 fantastic hunters that would love to be there right by my side to find a specific buck. Not necassarily because myself and a couple others COULDN'T make it happen. Only because it's so much fun with friends glassing for 1 animal (and yes, your odds are MUCH better with more people behind the glass). You don't see too many people talking about sheep hunters and their crew of 10+ people out there. It's fun! Most of the time it's necassary when looking for 1 particular animal in such a vast amount of land. Yes, even for elk, as most of you already know. This is one of my most memorable hunts. I had my brother, his two boys and a couple good friends to help on the last day of my hunt two years ago. We all got to enjoy it together!!!!

Awesome job! Congrats!

I was about to say that Bill's story was going to give Tyson's a run for his money.........maybe.

"......a couple doing the deer"????????

I agree with Jim- double lung. An arrow will most likely take the path of least resistance (as most would know). It could have deflected off a rib and angled up. As some are behind the shoulder and end up who knows where when they exit. Regardless, I don't think this bull went very far. Sweet picture!

LOL!!!!!!!!

I think this ones got everyone BEAT!!!!!!

yeehaw!!!!!! good job, guys! great bull

Recently, Lance and I watched a coyote and a bear run off together. We noticed the coyote first, close to a gut pile. He wanted to leave but just wouldn't take off. Finally, out from the gut pile came a pretty good size bear and they trotted off, literally side-by-side, together. It was cool.........and wierd, I guess. The best of friends, probably.

I found Brians "secret" buck!
Tines replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Brian, What a buck! Sure hope you slap a tag on that buck this year. Very nice! -
Well, Lance had the opportunity to help his dad on an antelope/elk hunt that started on Friday. The elk tag is under the population management program. He called me yesterday morning to let me know that his dad had killed a beautiful 6x6 that went 323". What a great bull for that hunt!!! For any hunt! Then I get a phone call from him this morning telling me that his dad had filled his goat tag with a great buck. There's much more to the story than what I've said but I'm going to let him entertain you. But let me just say this. As often as we complain about the G&F doing the wrong thing, they certainly went above and beyond today and were on our side! In the midst of all of the BS out of the WM's conrol, lets make sure to thank them for the little things (or in this case) the big things they do! Way to go Lance! Can't wait to see the pics!!!!!!!

I don't know how you removed the arrows but thanks. You must know some kind of magic. If I send you my little 3x3 could you make him a 7x8? TJ I'd love to!! I've had Photoshop for a while now but haven't spent enough time to REALLY make some noise. That's okay. I know enough to get me by for now. -
Go get a duplicate and transfer that one. HOAL uses as many as they can.
