I wasn't the brightest kid in school so someone might have to explain this one to me. How is someone drawn in the bonus point round for tag #'s that are well over the allotted amount when they picked them up as a leftover? I understand that even when applying for leftovers, there must be an application filled out just like the normal draw. But I can't wrap my head around someone drawing tags #367 and 368 when there are only 350 set aside for that hunt....regardless of which draw you were successful in. I'm seriously not trying to argue, I'm just trying to understand it better. Thanks...

Hahaha! Are you kidding??? Unreal....

Congratulations, Josh! Great buck! You did a lot better than I did over there.....

Way cool buck!

Congrats on a beautiful buck and memory!

You stopping and asking me how I was doing while wishing me luck as you were driving off would require me to actually be SITTING ON THE TRACK. That wasn't the case in this scenerio unless AZoutlaw (or his friend) isn't sharing the ENTIRE story. We're going in circles, here. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one (obviously). I didn't have a grandpa to teach me about how to be a sportsman, but I was fortunate to have a dad around to teach me integrity, good morals and common sense (which obviously can be carried into the field). And I do that. I assure you that I'm much more considerate than what you might think. I'm also perfectly content with my reputation as a sportsman. I hope that your buddy finds another track soon that he can get dogs on and chase successfully. Good luck.....

CouesAZ, I give you props for backing off the road until those other hunters got a better look. I agree with what you did and have done the same. And I'll always give someone the go ahead in situations like that. But that's NOTHING compared to finding a lion track that you're about to turn some dogs loose on when some random guy pulls up and says "that's mine, just waiting for some dogs..." Getting a better look at a bedded buck is far more of a guaruntee at actually shooting it as opposed to turning dogs on a track and catching a lion. But wait, I'm not a houndsman, what do I know? And since I'm not a houndsman but I'd love to cut a track, I'm sure given the excact scenerio and facts involved, AZoutlaw and DBcooper would have gladly kept driving by and wished me luck as I waited who knows how long for some dogs...

Missedagain, Sorry for your thread being hijacked. That wasn't most of our intentions (not mine anyway). But I couldn't help but respond. I really hope you have the chance to chase some dogs soon, its a BLAST! Azoutlaw, You're right, I'm not a houndsman. But I've got common sense and I'm a considerate sportsman who DOES sympathize for your buddy. I really do. I also understand that lion hunting is unique but nothing in your story justified calling someone "unethical" or "unsportsmanlike". I'm also not implying that notable hunters or cwt members have halos above their heads OR are always right and considerate. I'm not that naïve. But to anyone who suggests that defending a long time member OR friend over a newbie is a reason to stay away from a site is pretty ridiculous. A "free pass" to newbies making ignorant comments are handled pretty well on this site, IMO. But your claim wasn't ignorant, it was just unwarranted and unfounded.

That last tom just isn't right! If I didn't know any better, I'd think the hunter is 5'7" and 160lbs......... BUT I KNOW BETTER!! Congrats to everyone!!!! PIGS!

Mr. Jonathan, No, that wasn't the buck I killed last year. That I know of, there wasn't anyone within a few miles of us when we shot it. The example I shared wasn't anything that happened to me. Just sharing something that has likely happened to far more WT hunters than lion hunters. Just trying to relate, you know? And just a thought. Anyone ever met a lion hunter who WASN'T hard up for a fresh lion track??? I haven't. Just like none of us WT hunters are hard up for a big buck to walk through our binos. Minority? I think not. From what I've seen, a dedicated houndsman will EASILY spend a week to your average big-game hunters day in the field. All for what? Some guy to make claim on a track that he wasn't sitting on when the infamous WHITE TOYOTA with a dog box was found "stealing" tracks that dreadful day?

Haha! Are you kidding? "Steal" someones track? Sorry for your friend but like anything, there's always two sides of a story. Here's one for you: There I was glassing from my favorite spot. I find a 120" buck and make a move on it. I get to the point to shoot the buck and I hear someone walking up behind me. We meet and he says says "Hey, we're on that buck. I'm just waiting for my buddy to drive over here and shoot it." Don't even throw the "ethical" card on the story you shared.... Who's to say who glassed that buck up first? Who's buck is it REALLY? How do you know that track wasn't found the evening before? I'm sorry for your friend because I've been in situations like that. But don't be so quick to throw someone under the bus because they were in the right spot at the right time....with everything to get the job done that your buddy didn't have. Sounds to me that good 'ol fashion "hunting" took place.

Sadie Anderson got a nice one!

Wow! What a STUD buck! And great story to go along with it!! -
Thanks for the info, guys. I'll look into it all!

Have you guys seen the front page of the Antelope/Elk regs? Obviously the "quality" of the picture posted doesn't mean much. Seriously, it took me a few seconds to notice that there was actually an elk at the boys' feet....

Pima, I believe....

+1 -1 you just canceled each other out so....is he bigger than 95" or not?? I don't think he is. Listen, I don't want to get into breaking down a really cook buck so I'll leave that alone. Obviously he's happy with the buck and that's all that matters.

+1 -1

Awesome! 93.5"

What? Badlands packs have broken zippers?????? No way! All joking aside, I had a 2200 that I sent in several years ago to get some stitching done. They had it back to me fairly quick. Hope this works our for you. When you find something out, let Lance here on the site know, his 4500 did the excact same thing...

Realization of how lucky we are all.

Pretty sure I know the "boy" you're talking about. GREAT kid! -
Wow, great buck!

He's nice...... but just doesn't have what it takes to make me pull the trigger. But dangit, don't let someone else dictate what you might shoot! If I recall correctly, didn't you shoot a 100"+ buck last yr (or the yr before)? I'm pretty sure (based on what I can see) he won't make the mark. Good luck!
-
Congrats on a great buck! I've got to ask, though. Why cut the buck in half? Why not quarter him out? Congrats again on your big 'ol buck!

Not dismissing how important it is to have your child wear a helemt, those were exactly my thoughts...

I'll have to respectfully disagree with those comments....
