Yes - Friday's game was a great game. I took my 6 year old daughter. She was devastated that the Sundevils lost. It was a great game to take her to because it went by so fast. We actually went down and sat on the front row. She just got done with a little league season and was amazed at how good the players were. I am surprised that the 3rd baseman was not playing closer to the line (playing to prevent the double) in the 9th when ua scored to end the game. it did not appear the ball was hit over his head but right down the line. the ua baserunner from 1st ran through the stop sign from the 3rd base coach but the throw was off line. he would have been out if the throw had been accurate. it was pretty impressive that they came back to tie it on sunday when they were down 7 - 1 only to loose it in the bottom of the 9th again. I wish foxsportsaz would televise the games. makes no sense to me why they do not. I don't hear anything but excuses. Here's one you could have posted as well: "If ASU would have hit 36 HR's then they would have won.". How about this one: "If the PAC12 rep would have tripped on first base as he headed out to present the trophy and broken his leg, then some random UofA ball player picked the trophy up, it's probably not 'official' because it wasn't presented appropriately". Sports are pretty simple; baseball even more-so. You throw the ball, you catch the ball and you hit the ball...and sometimes you run in-between. If you effectively capatalize on any one of those principles you have a better chance of winning. UofA did that. ASU did not. It's that simple. Arguing that UofA isn't champs but "co-champs" is as stupid as saying "ASU isn't 3rd, they're co-co-CO-3rd". Stupid, huh? We could "what if" ALL......DAY.....LONG. ASU (or ANY sports fan for that matter) can "what if" while others play or watch for what it is- exciting because of their talent, desire and unpredictablility. Sure, there's a science to it. But who wants to talk about science when it's a tied ball game, bottom of the 9th, you're rounding 3rd base against your D-1 rival with the "co-championship on the line" while your coach is telling you to hold up? How many of us can say we've been there? What would college athletics be without emotion mixed in with whether or not I'm standing 1" closer to the line? I'm sure the ASU left feilder is blaming his 3rd baseman too.....

I posted a while back about a new vane concept my buddy came up with. I found this review on YouTube pretty well done. Thought I'd share this with all of you as you might want to consider something a little more durable (yet just as accurate AND allows those to still shoot a Whisker Biscuit if you wanted) as you build some new arrows for this fall! Hope you enjoy.

Congrats! Although I'm not sure how many deer you saved given her age and condition. But I'm sure the skunk population will be booming now!! Seriously, good job!

SS numbers are not given out. Only names, addresses and hunt #'s are sold to these businesses. The reason some might get a flier or brochure but others on the same app dont is purely based on WHO the business wants to solicit to. It's probably all speculation on which hunt or hunter increases their chances of booking. I've received these in the mail as well. I also get adds to Peter Piper Pizza. I don't eat there but I understand that someone who paid for that brochure or advertisement is just trying to put food on their table just like I am. Most of these outfitters are trying to capitalize on every opportunity to book a client. Just try to see it from their point of view as your employer might do the same with "annoying advertisements" that they paid for and easily purchased the same personal information.

I was on my first jr. hunt years ago with my father and grandfather. It was an anterless hunt in Kiabab. My grandfather dropped my dad and I off on old logging rd about 30min. in on opening morning. We hiked 100 yrds and he spotted several does in a feild so we set up and my dad walked me through the whole "know your shot and beyond etc" and I took my animal. Turned out that it was a buck but the "nubs" had not broken through the skin so it was legal. After being so pumped I had taken my first big game animal and pictures with my dad and grandfather, my father starts showing me how to feild dress the deer. Out of no where a game and fish guy walks up between my father and I (Without saying a word) grabs the head and starts rubbing the head with his hand to see if the knub would push through. He then started grilling me about unethical shots and that should have not shot him and that I can have my licsence taken away (All the while never saying who he is or aknowledging my dad or grandfather.) Naturally my dad steps in because the guy was inches away from my nose and they get in a shouting match for 10-15min. Needless to say at 14 yrs old on my first hunt I felt bad and it ruined that morning. So since that time I make sure I know my rights as well as do's and dont's and it has come in handy several times when setting up a camera or walking around with corn. I am willing to bet the G & F was having a bad morning but just the same it was unncessary. My kids aren't old enough to hunt yet but I sure hope I can keep my cool if some random guy happens to come up and start in with my child like that. What a tool....

There used to be two general MD hunts in 33. The second hunt has been "replaced" with the mzldr hunt.

No. December hunters will love the 10-day Thanksgiving hunt...

You think you were in the max points for the bull tag? Otherwise, issuing a couple of "extra" cow tags might be the BEST outcome for the G and F
-
 Sounds like you've got a pretty strong case. I don't understand how CC info that's entered when the application process begins isn't just stored and run again, rather than entered manually for the process of a tag. Seems redundant and destined for a mistake (obviously). What was your first and second choices??

Don't get me started on BofA.... I gladly closed my account with them a year ago. I wasn't aware of Costco's position on the 2nd. I'll have to catch up

It sure seems that applying for units where there is little, if any, knowledge about them is fairly common these days. Although I'll never understand why people do that, I assure you that the Game and Fish offer some great insight on their website about 5b North. You should also contact the the unit WM and you'll have more info than you can handle. Good luck!!

How much does the azgfd make off hunting applications?

Seriously! Can you imagine harvesting that buck?? Maybe even with a bow?? Dream come true for some...

I'll bite. Anyone who says TJ has no business drawing that many consecutive tags doesn't know the whole story. I hear stories often of what's his name who "drew his 3rd bull tag in a row..". I'm still not quick to cry foul because it usually takes one more question to determine whether or not their definition of "a bull tag" is the same as some of ours. Many times you find out its a late rifle bull tag or even a late archery bull tag. To each his own if they want that tag. I'll never be hard on anyone who just wants to go hunting but let's get one thing straight, they are NOT equal to a rut tag. I apply for rut tags. Doesn't mean my priorities are screwed up. Just means they're different than some of yours. I don't care if they gave TJ two extra cow tags a year, he's a good guy and appreciates them. But more importantly, not every elk tag is equal. That's the big difference. I work with some "hardcore" hunters who laugh at me because they drew "another elk tag" and I didn't. Many just look at all elk tags equally, but they're just not. I drew my first bull tag this year after 18 years of applying. Some, without even knowing me or my circumstances, get upset when they hear i drew. For all they know its a late rifle tag! Some don't think there's a difference. I do. It's never crossed my mind to be upset with someone like TJ who draws the tags he does. He plays the odds and enjoys the "less" desirable permits. But i'm definitely guilty of being a little frustrated with certain guys who draw the "more" desirable permits often. Who wouldn't? Especially when I'm applying for the same hunts as them but have 3x the points. This discussion is never ending and like someone mentioned, either way will leave someone upset. But it also seems the word "fair" has different meanings as well according to some. I'd say the majority (even the G and F) want to keep the system the way it is. I've never been one to follow the majority so I say bring on the squared points for premium hunts!!! : )

Muskrat, I can relate. My wife and I are almost at 10yrs now. She's come a LONG way! But so have I. In fact, she went on her first hunt last spring. I never thought I'd see the day. I enjoy throwing videos together and when I do, I have her critique it from a "non-hunters" perspective. It really helps sometimes. She'll still roll her eyes at things but then again, so do I.. Ha! Glad your wife enjoyed it!

Wouldn't be tough at all. Just make a phone call and report your success or not. They already have an answering service for this and you just leave your info. Same goes for online. Wouldn't be difficult or drain resources at all.

Gotchya. I misunderstood what he was saying.

Why would you lose your "preference" and loyalty?? That's the only part that doesn't make sense.

Congrats, Brian! How's that Boston's Pizza place??

Wait for occasional December hunts or early hunts often?

That's my problem, I'm not a serious hunter! Dang... ; ) -
Dick, Any idea what this tag has historically gone for? Thanks.... Jake

IMO, in Southern Arizona: October is hot but you can find bachelor bucks. First November isn't much different other than maybe a little cooler temps. Late November can have great weather. But some early winter storms can wreak havoc on a 7 day hunt. Can't really go wrong with a December tag. I don't know if people are sick of the poor draw odds or what, but I think if we all had a choice, most would choose a December tag. Maybe they're "overrated" but hardly from a general hunting perspective. It's longer, weather is generally great (and if it's not, you have more days to work with) and you get to see some pre-rut activity. Who wouldn't want any of that!?!?! You can't look at the December hunt as a "rut hunt". Just look at it as more time in the field with generally AMAZING weather.
