I agree that this price is high. This was a friends gun. I wouldn't buy or sell an AR at that price but that is just me. FYI he ended up selling it for 1400$

They do ask for scope height when you do the ballistics calculation. If you have put the correct scope height into your ballistics calculator then the true velocity will be correct and your turret will be accurate? Did you do their trajectory validation process? If not, how are you coming up with your numbers for the turrets?

I have used the trajectory matching program from vortex with three viper scopes. All of them are repeatable. The scopes are awesome. Simply put the viper is an awesome scope for the money.

Sticker says draw is 29-31. You say it is set at 28? I ask because I am a 27 and interested in the bow.

I don't buy the friendly fire deal either. Not only would it put holes in the border security claim, but f this came back to fast and furious it would be devestating. The other issue I have is the assumption that two border patrol agents could shoot each other when they were the only ones around. In any type of night time operation that I have worked there were extra precautions taken to identify friend or foe. I understand when it is dark and you hear footsteps your adrenaline is pumping, but any properly trained operator will not shoot without positive identification. It is possible the agent felt he had that identification but I truly doubt it. I would have to assume they were in radio contact, and were at least aware that there were other agents in the area. If that was not the case then that is a procedural flaw in border patrol operations. It just doesn't sound right, these guys are too well trained and too versed at this for this too happen.

I have a couple of things up for sale. First is a Mission Maniac bow. This bow is adjustable without a press from 22-31 inches of DL and has 70lb limbs on it. I have it set to 27 inches right now. It will come with a brand new whisker biscuit rest, d-loop, and peep sight and is already tuned by matthews. It is a used bow that I have owned for a year Price is 375$ OBO Next is a Bushnell ARC 1000 laser rangefinder. Rangefinder is about 2 years old but still works the same as the day I took it out of the box. It is a great bow hunting range finder or for rifle hunting out to 500 Yards. They sell for 249.99 new. I am asking 200$ OBO Last is a Vortex Skyline (non-ED) 20-60x80 spotting scope. It is the straight model. It is used but will come with the cover that came from Vortex. I just recently had vortex check it out to make sure it was all good and everything is fine. It is a good spotting scope just bigger than I want to pack around. Price is 360$ OBO. All prices are OBO. This is going to be posted on multiple forums so the easiest way to get a hold of me is to text at 801-828-5692. I will try and put pictures up later but text me in the meantime for pictures. Andrew

I had wanted to type a longer story as this hunt meant a lot to me, but I truthfully just don't have the energy. I am still trying to get caught up with work and college after being on the hunt for 3 weeks. This was my first elk hunt ever. I drew with 3 points, and was totally shocked when I did. I immediately decided to do whatever I could to prepare my self for success. I started shooting my bow at least 100 arrows a day, and did whatever research I could. I live out of state because I am in the military, so I had to rely on my brother and good friends for scouting. I was able to come up once before the hunt in July for a quick scouting trip. That scouting trip turned up more than 20 bulls. I knew from that scouting trip that finding the elk wouldn't be the hard part, getting close to them would be. This turned out to be true for my hunt. I arrived in Utah on August 24th and started hunting the very next morning. From the beginning I had bulls bugling all around me. The first week would turn out to be the best for both elk activity and vocalization. I sat water, tried spot and stalk, and everything else I could thing of. I was able to get within 100 yards of big bulls on 2 occasions but could never get closer. The second week brought a big change from the first. There was a storm in the second week that completely changed the way the Elk acted. The same canyons that had been blowing up a week before were now silent every morning. I sat on a hill side one morning and watched a herd of elk come out of the pines at 7:10 and be back in the trees by 7:20. Most mornings and evenings were like that the second week. I have never felt as frustrated and depressed as I did the friday of the second week. I felt like throwing the bow in the trash and driving back to Arizona. Luckily my brother came up that weekend and was going to hunt with me for the remainder of the hunt. Having him around was definitely a boost to morale. The third week brought more of the same, silent bulls and little elk movement. We were able to call a couple of bulls in to 100 yards again, but could never get them to come closer. On tuesday the 11th of September, we decided to change areas and drove 30 minutes east. We got to our hunting spot and immediately were greeted by bugling bulls. It was a welcome surprise. That morning we again got a bull to come to our calls, he worked to 60 yards but because of thick trees I couldn't get a shot. That evening we had a couple of friends join us. One of these friends was a very good elk caller, and a much more experienced elk hunter than my brother and I. We made a plan for me to go with him, while my brother, my dad and other friends spotted for us from acrossed the canyon. We immediately got into elk. We had multiple bulls bugling around us. We decided to chase a deep bugle up the canyon from us. After a short hike we were standing 80 yards from a legitimate 360 -370 bull. He was with several cows and wouldn't come to our calls. We could get him to scream back at us but wouldn't budge. Each time he would bugle another bull would scream from up the hill. As the big bull began to move up the canyon we tried to follow him but he was able to get 200-300 yards ahead of us. By this time we were even with the other bull that had been bugling back and forth with the big bull, and he didn't sound far away at all. We decided to try and call that bull into a clearing we were set up on. Two cow calls from my friend and the bull was crashing through the pines towards us. As soon as I saw him I drew my bow and the bull came out at 54 yards. He bugled in our face and turned broadside. After getting a range from my friend I let one fly and shot right over his back. My heart sank and I grabbed another arrow as fast as I could. The elk turned towards the pines but my friend was able to stop him at 64 yards quartering away. This time my arrow flew true and entered right behind his shoulder. I have never felt greater relief in my life. After the radio calls to my friends and family up the hill, and multiple hugs, we started tracking the bull. It had been an hour since the shot. We followed the blood trail for 45 yards before we found the bull dead and only 100 yards from a road. After some quick pics and field dressing him, we had him loaded on the 4 wheelers for the ride to camp. He is not the biggest bull we saw, but I have never worked harder for an animal in my life. To be surrounded by family and friends makes this an unforgettable experience. He scores right around 330, but that doesn't matter I wouldn't be any happier if he scored 400.

Looking for some decent camoflauge rain gear. I would like something in MAX-1 but am open to most camo patterns. I am not looking for anything sitka or similar in price. I have a early season archery elk hunt in Utah and need to pick something up. Let me know what you have. I am 5'8' and about 170 pounds. Usually wear a large or extra large.
-
Found out today that I drew a limited entry elk tag in Utah. My first elk hunt is going to be a month long Archery hunt in August. To say I am excited would be a minor understatement!
-
Looking at strawberry, Currant Creek, and Tabby mountain areas. I know some spots off the beaten path that usually have some bulls.
-
Thanks. I am from Utah just transplanted to AZ via the Marine Corps. I grew up on the wasatch unit but only chased deer never elk. This should be a blast!
-
Yes my cc got hit, that is how I found out. I drew the wasatch unit. I don't know yet if it is archery or any weapon but with 3 points going into the draw I will take either one hahah
