Thanks for the help...gives me a starting point.

If I knew sooner I would have tagged along...I'm new to this predator stuff and I'm looking to learn more about it...

Ha Ha...very funny...but my checks were cashed this week if that means anything...

I have the E2 by Fleetwood. I like it...it works for what I do. I use it for fishing in the white mountains in the summer, deer hunting in the fall, etc. It doesn't have A/C, but it does have a heater and it works!!! It also has an indoor toiler, which is what the wife wanted the most. What I like most about it is the wheel clearance and the loading/unloading of the quad. Having the quad on the trailer frees up bed space. I tow mine with a 3/4 ton...I didn't go with a toy hauler only because of some of the areas where I go. Other features...fridge, water heater, sleeps 6, 25 gal water tank.

Great pics...I would agree about the snakes. Couple of weeks ago I went out scouting with my brother and we ran into a 5' rattlesnake on the way in...the usual 1/2 hr hike to glassing spot turned into a hour hike since the grass was all knee high we basically couldn't see the ground or under the bushes, rocks on the way in...one of the things I hate about early season scouting...then of course there were the bugs when we were trying to glass...

I have a rifle cow tag this year...its my first time hunting elk with a rifle...I'll be using my 7mmWSM and my question is this...will a 139gr Hornady Interbond be an appropriate bullet or should I go heavier (160gr)...I know shot placement is the key...just curious what others thought..

A friendly clerk at SW suggested something similar...hopefully they'll get some more in soon....

Point of Impact Change with Diff Rests
Dodger2 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I guess its a good thing you found out now... It makes sense to me. Each rest is going sit on the gun differently, even so sightly which will change the point of impact. Add to it the range and the differences will only be magnified. When I got my scope mounted, I had it mounted using my Harris bi-pod. The individual that mounted my scope works with guns on a daily basis and especially those used for making shots that count when the pressure is on. He trains others to do the same...and were talking out to 500m...he even asked how I would be shooting (sitting, prone, etc.)...I guess sandbags off a bench are good to get it "close" but when comes to how you'll shoot when the shot opportunity is presented is how one should practice. -
Went out today and tried some of the 160gr Barnes TSX...had to get the scope dialed in first...these were at 50yds...shoulder got a little sore...the shots with the "X" were getting it zeroed, then #1 was close couple of clicks and then #2,3,4...this is the best group I've gotten out of this gun yet...all from 50yds

Doug, The 139gr Interbond is what I'm sighted with right now and the bullet I'll be using on my coues hunt. That is why I was asking. I was hoping I will only have to play the bullet/load/sight in game once. My dad and I reload our ammo, but my folks got displaced by a house fire and the press, etc. was part of that so reloading right now is kind of out of the question (plus I have close to 60 rounds loaded right now). From what I know the IB is like the Nosler Accubond. Thanks for the replies.

Found it on the map, I was just one canyon north of there scoutin' last year then my Grandfather passed away, we didn't get to hunt. My son and I had December tags. Anyway are there issues with access do you know? I am going to plan on going down there in the AM (9/28) and try to get to the foot of the Mtns. Thanks, Vince B. I was in there last year and didn't have any access problems. The road into the canyon is just north of the San Pedro...there was a sign in box there.

YLE Canyon...Copper Creek gets hammered with people....

Very cool...my son just turned 5 and will be going with me and his uncle on our rifle cow hunt in Oct. That will be his first hunting trip, figured it would be easier than climbing those hills after coues deer since the unit I have is mostly rolling hills. He was asking me the other day for a bow and arrow and told me he wanted to take a bow and arrow on the cow hunt. They grow up so fast....

Very nice! Looks like unit 7...

Preferred vegetation to hunt coues in?
Dodger2 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I like the octillo and the juniper/oak stuff. I think I like the juniper/oak stuff more only because it is usually cooler during the rifle hunts, and the octillo stuff because its warmer in January. -
Lesson learned: Don't cut the head off of a rotten elk without gloves
Dodger2 replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Other Big Game
That's nasty...I think I would have just left it there for those nasty birds... -
Looks familiar...the news said the Catalinas have received 5" in the last two days and it looks like we are about to get another round down here again pretty soon...

My son Mason isn't old enough to hunt yet, so we only have his first fishing, camping trip. He will probably tag along with Dad, Grandpa, and his Uncle this year.

Dodger2 replied to Huntn coues's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I wouldn't panic too much. Last year, I checked my card every day and nothing. Then the day the draw results came out, I was drawn for deer. Nothing showed up on my card until the day after the results were posted. Still haven't checked mine...I'm almost scared too... -
I'll be sitting on my rock in 33 with my binoculars on Sunday morning. I can't get out until then, but I'm ready and I need the peace and quiet.
-
OK, I got drawn for a 33/37B archery javelina tag. When I applied I checked the box issue me a license. I received the tag, but I don't have a license. Do I just need to go down the AGFD and take my tag and have them issue me a license since I have already paid for it? I've never had this happen before.
-
Well, I'm assuming you can't get a tag without a license and I have the tag so wouldn't that be proof of purchase.
-
The 33/37B archery javelina. The last two years I haven't applied so I didn't have a tag and found lots of piggies, lets hope it doesn't change this year. Of course, I'll probably still get caught up chasing deer around and forget I have the javelina tag....
