Can I post this here?
Dodger2 replied to Dodger2's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I give up ... I can't figure out how to post a picture of my antelope. Can anyone help me? I can't figure out how to make it the right size. -
I can't help out a lot, but I would try the Middle March Pass area in the Dragoon Mtns east of Tombstone. I'm pretty sure that you can get in there and it is Nat'l Forest. You might also try to find access into the Mule Mtns. around Bisbee.

My Dad came home yesterday and is doing great. The doctors say that there was very little damage to his heart and that it should heal fine. He is already talking about going back to work. I think he needs to take a short break. He was even talking about our deer hunt this November. I want to thank everyone for their support!

I would gladly put your family in our prayers. I too would also like to ask for your support. My Dad, hunting partner and mentor, had a heart attack this morning at work. He is currently in ICU and is recovering but it has been a long a taxing day. He and I work together at the same school so I have been with him the whole day. Thank you!

Just curious, but I thought it was illegal to use screw in steps on National Forest Lands... I might be wrong..."it may be unlawful to pound climbing spikes or attach anything that penetrates the surface of a tree causing permanent injury or scarring" pg. 72 AZGFD 2005 regs. Please don't think that I'm an environut or tree hugger, I'm just trying to give a heads up...

Coues Whitetail Background Location

I think it is from the area around Globe, 24A. -
Congrats! I've heard that is a VERY tough hunt. I hope you've got a big freezer!

I've got some new Swarovski's that I will be trying out. Picked them up today. -
I'm a high school biology teacher and head baseball coach. Sometimes I wonder why...The spring is pretty busy, but the summers are great!

hime, I'll be taking the badlands pack with me on my antelope hunt on Sept. 8-12. I will probably have it out in the next couple of weeks scouting for coues as well. I know that it is extremely comfortable and has a pocket for your tripod and one for your spotting scope if you have one. I need to get some more gear to fill the rest of the pockets !. I'll let you know what I think. Plus it comes with a life time guarantee! Dodger/Matt Darren, Is that a new 300 win mag or did you get your ruger customized as well? Which one will you be hunting coues with? -

New stuff that needs some good mountain dirt on them... 1. New GMC 2500 4x4 Crew Cab (had to get the four doors for the new addition to the family) 2. New scope on the 7mmWSM 3. Badlands 2200 pack 4. AR-31 Bow for my archery elk hunt 5. Hopefully some new bino's soon (probably Swarovski SLCs) -
I've been playing with some loads for my 7mmWSM. I shot some 160gr. Nosler Partitions, 140gr. Nosler Silvertips, and some 139gr. Hornady Interlocks. I got the best groups out of the Hornady. I was able to shoot a two inch group at 200yds. These are the same bullets that I have been using my whole hunting life (20 or so years). I've also never lost anything with them. I would like to try some of the Accubonds and Interbonds just for fun to see what happens, but I'll be hunting with my 139gr. Hornady Interlocks this season.

My computer won't let me see it. Can someone tell me what happens?

I drew this tag as well, November. I have hunted this unit in January for javelina and archery deer and never saw that many other hunters. What should I expect for this hunt. I have some spots picked out to scout, but I don't want to show up opening morning and then having to race up the mountain to get to a spot before someone else. As long as everyone is going to the northeast end, I'll be fine . LOL
-
I drew a November 33 WT (1st choice) and a 7M archery cow elk (2nd hunt). I also have two antelope tags in Wyoming. I gave up on putting in for speed goats in AZ.

I was heading back from Flagstaff today on I-17 and saw two (maybe just one) fire between Camp Verde and the Dugas/Orme Rd exit. It was maybe a mile east of the freeway. There was a decent sized monsoon forming northeast of them so hopefully the rain got them under control.

Allegiance Sight/Rest Recommendations?
Dodger2 replied to 6.5man's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
For a rest, take a look at the Rip Cord fall away. It can hold the arrow in place if you need it to. Just another option. I have had on two bows and haven't had any problems. -
Happy birthday Casey!!

Bret, I will have to agree with about fire being good. Especially this type, lightning caused. Ma Nature is doing her job cleaning up. The ones that get me are like the Aspen Fire, someone being careless. A couple weeks ago I was up at Rose Canyon with my son and we were eating lunch in the campground there and the site next to us had a smoldering fire. Nobody there. Some people just don't get it I guess.

LMAO about your comments, looks like one of the coyotes running around my house with mange. That is one UGLY dog!!!!

I hope it's the 22nd and not the 29th. I will be in Colorado on the 29th with no way to check. Waiting for so long and then knowing the results will be posted while I'm gone would be horrible. How about the monsoons? When do you think they'll arrive?
-
az4life, I'm aware of the access problems in Wyoming and we already have permission for several areas up there. Thanks for the heads up though.
-
I know that Wyoming offers an online version. All you have to go to is the field day. I don't know how effective this would be, but maybe an alternative for some people in some situations. I was goofing around and "finished" Wyoming's in about 45 minutes.

I saw the flames go over a ridge from the eastside of Tucson tonight. They seem to be going from Sky Island to Sky Island. The Catalinas 2 years ago, Mt. Graham last year, and now the Santa Ritas.

25-06, I can relate to that one. I only filled out apps for coues and elk and went through about 5 forms. Then checked, rechecked, and checked again before sealing them and then I wanted open them again to make sure I got everything right. I turned them in before 5/27 and didn't get any phone calls so I guess I was okay. I hoping this year is a good year, I know this is the AZ draw, but I drew a Wyoming speedgoat tag (18% chance) on my first try. Last year was bad, bad, bad, so hopefully I will get good karma this year. Good luck to everyone, Matt P.S. I hope its before the 23rd since I will out of town from 23-30 where there's no way to check.
