Had a great afternoon in the woods today! I saw several bulls and was able to get some decent video of some of them. Looks like most the growing is done for the year. I can hardly wait for the crisp September mornings! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OM3SagFz-Z0

Fletch your arrows with the new az ez fletch mini. The hard helical will make a dramatic difference in your broadhead flight. -
After glassing this bachelor herd up from a long ways off, we decided to get a little closer and try to get some footage. The plan came together perfectly and the herd stayed pretty tight together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekiigVEAjXs

I just spend too much time in the woods!

On the last morning of his hunt, Russ shoots a 7x7 bull with his bow! We were able to call this bull right by Russ, allowing him to shoot a couple arrows, Third shot was the charm as Ben Craft caught it all on film! Great first archery bull Russ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nq1Qhr-PQg

That was the G5 Montec doing what it does best!

My hunting partner and I had limited time to spend on our unit 10 antelope hunt, but were hoping to both harvest 80" goats. Opening morning we passed 2 good bucks that we felt were in the mid to high 70s. We glassed this tall buck up again that evening and dubbed him our "backup buck". After a rough couple days checking out other parts of the unit with some good friends who were scouting for elk also and enduring some ridiculous tire issues that cost us a day of hunting we decided to go back and shoot the backup buck. We found him that night and got set up for a shot, but does spooked as we were loosing light, so we decided to come back the next morning. As luck would have it, the buck was right where we left him. After a long hike/stalk, we were in range and my buddy was locked down with the claw. He took his time and shot at the buck broadside, but went just over his back. After giving chase for a couple miles we were unable to get another shot and reluctantly had to head home. Once home I shared the footage with some die-hard antelope hunting friends and they convinced me we had to give this buck one more try. So we left home the next morning at 2:30 am with my wifes blessing for a one day suicide trip. We located the buck relatively early and on my third stalk was finally able to get a shot off and put him down. He was definitely bigger than I had estimated! Special thanks to my friends, Ben, Tim, Josh and Shane. Without them it would not have happened.

Shortly after passing on a couple of decent bulls, including a young non typical, we came across this great bull. Cameraman, Ben Craft, was able to get some footage as I fell back to call and Russ snuck in closer. His fourth and fifth point were both broken on his right side, but we felt he was still a strong bull. We were snacking on some Oreos while back at camp watching the footage and Ben started calling him "Oreo". We had another couple of encounters with Oreo, but were never able to close the deal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAv5h2NDhfI

While archery elk hunting with Russ Palmer in AZ, I was able to call this bull away from his cows first thing in the morning. It was a good morning to be in the woods. Even the turkeys were gobbling. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxDmQEOf5pQ

I was fortunate to get some great footage of this bull. When I started filming the lighting and "haze" made for what I thought was a great setting. A little while later the sun peaked over the horizon and lit everything up. The result was golden! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7N6ACpF0rGc

While archery elk hunting with Russ one afternoon we came across this 6x7 we nicknamed "Chuckles". After a couple of encounters we were finally able to call him within bow range. When Russ drew his bow the bull stopped, shielding his vitals with a tree. After holding the bow back for too long Russ finally said, "I'm gonna break!" We both busted up laughing as the bull then turned and walked away. After that encounter we referred to him as chuckles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xgw8h13C8Sw

I was fortunate to spend some days hunting elk with Brett Brimhall during his archery elk hunt. After spending several days chasing one bull inparticular, we decided to spend the afternoon in a different area. Just before dark, this nice 7x7 answered our calls and before we could even get set up we saw his antlers approaching through the trees. It all happened so fast that Brett was unable to use a rangefinder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlV_B41YKeM

We called this love sick bull in three different times while trying to get the herd bull during an archery elk hunt. He is just a young bull that loved the sound of our cow call. Too Small video link

Check out the footage of this bull as he comes right up to the other side of the juniper tree John is standing behind! John's Close Encounter Video

I saw a couple of bulls this week sporting some new growth! Their stubby eyeguards reminded me of a bull I had filmed a couple years ago. He was short up front, but sweet on top! Short and Sweet video

Once again, while scouting for the archery elk hunt I found this unique bull. I called him "Curly". He was always in the same place tending his ladies, so I figured he would be a good bull to keep in my back pocket in case the hunt was nearing a close or we just needed a change of scenery. We never did hunt him too hard until the end of the hunt. Unfortunately, while closing the distance on him, my hunter shot a different bull. Curly bull video

Here are a couple bulls I was able to film while out scouting for elk just a few days before the archery season with my friend, Josh Esparza. We followed this and another good bull for about an hour before we were finally able to get a look at him. Unfortunately, there was a bunch of brush in the way. Rather than push him, we decided to leave them undisturbed. We never did go back to hunt him or the other bull we found that morning, although they were both solid bulls. Big Brush Bull Video

Check out this bull my friend Jeff Lester of Hunt Hard Outfitters filmed! What a beauty! Great width and beams with some studly G4s. Unfortunately he had no hunters with him the day he filmed it. Big 4 Bull video

While scouting for elk last season, we came across this bull a couple different times. We had glassed him from a long ways off and knew he had some non typical points. This was the first time we were able to get close enough to get some good footage of him. He has a real unique point that curls back off the beam behind his right ear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGSBIaVuZ_s

While looking for another specific bull during an archery hunt we came across this bull. We called him Sawtooth due to the two small inline extra points toward the end of his left main beam. He is a great bull and put on quite a show for us while we continued to look for the bull we had come into the area to find. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaIrf_l2vjg

Thanks Jed. I think you know where I'll be concentrating my scouting efforts. I thought for sure I was on him last year with the muzzy, but, well you can imagine my surprise when that long crab-claw with nothing but beams and a short fork stepped out. I've got 3 or 4 bulls in mind this year I want to focus on, and you've got footage of at least two of them. Maybe I'll see ya out there. I will be chasin a few of them as well.

I guess the rumors are true Jason. Congrats! Hope you get a good one!

About a week before the archery elk season started I was able to glass this bull from a very long way. He was so far away I couldn't tell exactly how big he was, but I knew I should get a better look. The following morning I slipped into the area I had glassed him and found him courtin' a couple dozen cows. As the hunt wore on, he was managing to keep up with over 60 women! We hunted this bull hard for most of the hunt. Due to the open terrain, we found ourselves stalking on our hands knees daily, just trying to get a shot at the big bull!
