Coues World record at Cabellas
grizzly replied to vegasjeep's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I agree they look like 3D targets or decoys. The antlers all look like reproductions. You can buy life size reproductions of some of the biggest deer ever shot. Not sure where but I got a catalog a few years ago that had stickers and tshirts and mini-replicas of some famous bucks and even had life size suitable for mounting. -
I'm thinkin' of buying here!!!

If I knew where that sign was it would be on my wall tonight! -
Drove through Florence on Wednesday and the river wash just north of town was running bank to bank with muddy floodwater. No clouds around either, guessing it came from Tucson way? Dont know exactly but WOW that was alot of water.

My feelings exactly Whitehnter, you show a trophy class pickup to G&F and you just lost it. They have a few other more important things to worry about than that I think (at least they should.)

Went up there on Saturday, lot of cool displays and some old and valuable guns. WAY too many people there though. I had to park across the street and walk and I felt like I was in Disneyland. They had a restaurant there where we ate lunch. Only thing I bought was a tshirt. I will go back in a few months when all of the fever dies down and I can enjoy it with my kids.

I like Waterdog Willys but they are not a Mathews dealer. Bear Mountain is a good one depending on who you deal with, The black guy Jim is very nice and knowledgable and always helpful. I try to show up when I think he will be there. Archery Headquarters is a good one also.

Link doesnt work for me. I was planning on going but some conflicts have arisen with Boy Scout troop on that weekend. Not sure yet what I will do.

I shoot a Mathews LX, I previously shot a Q2XL then an SQ2. I love Mathews bows. A buddy of mine this past year was shooting a new Bowtech and I was impressed with how quietly it shot. I found one for sale used and am planning on picking it up as a backup bow. My advice would be Mathews but like others have said, you cant go wrong either way.

Walmart has a digital for $100, its the Moultrie. I got one for Christmas and have put it out twice without any animals flocking to it. This last time I put it on a cattle tank so I will see if the deer are a little more cooperative this time. Going to check it out next week. I also bought two cards for it so I can swap the cards without removing the camera. I take my digital camera with me to check and if no animal pics I move the game cam. Good luck from a beginner.

I tried those Rocket Ultimate Steels a few years ago and found them to be not user friendly. I cut the crap out of my fingers trying to put them together. I have always enjoyed the Muzzy 4 blade and they come with practice blades for sighting them in.

I got the early 21 whitetail deer, 37B archery javelina and 5Bsouth cow elk. No pronghorn but 3 out of 4 tags, not bad.

that deer looks way too healthy, I think that is on the bush in front of it.

I just TIVO everything imaginable on the Outdoor Channel. Kind of like watching Skinemax rather than going to the dirty little "adult shop" to buy tapes.

It depends on your usage, just for camping five or six times a year a generac is okay. Dont count on them for daily use however. I bought Generacs from Price Club about 12 years ago for a concrete company where I was the yardman and almost got fired for it. Im a contractor and use my generator usually 3 times a week. I personally use a Coleman 6000 watt that has never given me a bit of trouble. (Hey standman you have to put oil in them first. ) JK.

asking what is out there other than carhartts is like asking what can protect your feet other than boots. I love my carhartt loggers.

Okay pilgrim, if you want to donate all of your gear to me then I will take it!

If I had missed a deer like that I would be swinging by a short rope from the shower rod. Thats why I only miss little deer.

Ive never heard of it before, what exactly is it? Is it just a ghillie suit or leafy wear? Or is it a name brand or camo?

I agree with Lark, this will never be enforced. I had a run-in with some daisy sniffers a few years ago and called Game and Fish. The weasel who took my call obviously had sympathies towards them and it went nowhere. When the tree huggers have infiltrated G&F we are in trouble.

Congratulations on such an awesome dog! I have a lab and know you must be missing him.

Kind of funny how strict THEY are about OUR paperwork, hmmmm.

One of my favorite Game and Fish displays of all time is the video of people shooting the deer decoy from their cars. They used to show it at the fair every year. They did dust it off for the Phoenix Expo a few weeks ago. The best is when people will fire multiple times and wonder how the deer can be standing and not move after multiple hits from a high power rifle. HMMMMM!

Off season hobbys???
grizzly replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I play in a couple of slow-pitch softball leagues during the spring and summer. I usually take the fall and winter off because of conflicts with hunting season. -
Youve ruined the kid for life, now every trip that he doesnt shoot one like that will be a disappointment.
