Chuck Duwane Adams will be coming out with a great new book on hunting Coues Deer sometime this month or next. You will be able to buy it off this website. Duwane covers all the units and tactics for Coues Deer and it will be very helpful. Good Luck Jason

I have yet to kill a Coues Deer above 75 inches with the Bow but have been close. For the early bow season i would stick to the southern units and hunt water holes away from the road if at all possible but it always seems to me that the good bucks don't come in until well after dark no matter how dry it is. Mule Deer(Carp) aren't as smart or as skitish and you will probably get a chance at them if you can sit there all day. In January the rut is in full swing and i have been using Midwestern tactics; decoy, scent and ratling and have been close but not close enough so far. The Javelina hunters have ruined it for me twice so get far far far from any roads.

I'm thinking about booking a Coues Deer hunt in Mexico next year or possibly a Sitka Blacktail hunt in Alaska. I've read allot about Coues Deer hunting down south and was hoping to get some feed back on if the Coues Deer hunting is really that good in Mexico from someone who has been there. I have heard that Dwane and Pusch Ridge are some of the best and have a friend who has booked a hunt through Cabelas for less money this fall but don't know what outfitter that is through and does have the option of taking a second deer for another $1,000. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Allen I tried to send you an email at the address you provided but kept getting an error message back.

I recently bought a Knight Disc extreme for a Elk hunt in NM this year and it is really nice and easy to learn and shoot. But, not balanced very well though(front heavy). Maybe they are all like this, this is my first muzzleloader.

Thanks allen I'm going to send you an email for some info on Alaska and your trip to Mexico. I have talked to Dwane before and what a great guy and i know Pusch Ridge is also very good. Thanks Again Jason

It's a sad day for me. My wife and I didn't get drawn for anything this year. If it wasn't for my elk tag in New Mexico it would be worse. I think i will be getting an over-the-counter tag in New Mexico like Bret. If anyone is looking for a huntin buddy this year on their hunt, let me know. Jason

Does anyone know when the New Mexico draw results will be available? It seems like last year the results were out by now. Jason

I did not draw a deer tag but did draw a muzzleloader Elk tag this year in NM. Jason

what do you think the best all-around caliber is
Jason replied to a topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I prefer the 300 Win. With 180 grain bullet, you won't have to worry about wind as much and the HE Federal Trophy Bonded Bearclaw bullets move just as fast as a 300 Weatherby. Jason -
Thanks Allen and Amanda I have sent Tommy a email and will post what i find out. I'm sure a bunch Coues Deer hunters will be looking for other ways to hunt when the results of this years Draw come out for New Mexico and Arizona. Jason

Hello All Are there any good Landowner Tags available in New Mexico to buy for Coues? I only hear about the Elk tags and they charge thousands for those.

So what did you put in for?
Jason replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I put in for 13B and 23 for my first and second choice this year and 35B(Nov) for my third choice. I really like 35B late but only have one point this year. Good luck to everyone in the Draw!
