So I'm not the only one having problems finding the results early? When it wasn't bogged down or crashing, I got the 'ol "...no tags, no points etc..." message on my account and my daughter's. But I know there are two credit card hits, one for her youth javi and, I'm assuming, my archery javi tag.

We've been trying to clean out the garage after doing some cleaning of stuff the kids have outgrow, stuff I don't use, etc. I thought I would start here since its now too cold for a garage sale in Flagstaff. Soccer will have us doing frequent trips to the Valley, including December 12-13 at Reach 11 and near Cardinals' stadium for the USWNT game on 13 December. I have a pair of used military issue 200g insulated boots in size 9. Tread is in excellent shape, but toe leather is worn. All other leather in great condition. $25. Got these from my BIL after he was stationed back at Fort Bliss. I have a pair of rubber boots in size 7. Well used, but still in good shape. No leaks. $5. My son's old sleeping bag (blue) for car/camper camping. He'll be 8 next month and has outgrown it. $10. My daughter's sleeping bag, also used for car/camper camping. She's 11 and hasn't used it for a couple of years after outgrowing it. Lightly used. $15.

Pete tempted me a while back with that .257 Weatherby. I almost had my wife convinced. I've done business with him and he's definitely a stand up guy! His pride in his rilfes/loading is very apparent. I still wish I could take that .257 off your hands! Good luck!

I thought I had read some reviews that the Winchester Long Beard didn't do as well past 40 yards. It opened up quite a bit more than you would like for a turkey load. I'll have to see if I still have those articles. I still use #4 shot Remington Wingmaster (had a bunch leftover from back in the day) and #4 Hevi shot with a Cabela's Hevi Shot choke tube. They pattern great. I have my daughter set up with the Hevi Shot blend (#5-#7) and an HS Strut Undertaker and it patterns awesome. I'd have no problem with her unleashing her 20 gauge at 20 yards with her set up. Like Oz says, though, there's not much need to overthink it. Good luck!

Action Locked\Gunsmith Needed
IA Born replied to mgorm16640's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I almost forgot about Dark Sky Solutions here in town. Jason that runs it is a former Navy medic and great guy. His son was my daughter's classmate for a couple of years and he and his son were in my hunter ed class this summer. Top notch place! -

Gary Reeder over at Reeder Custom Guns/Pistol Parlor might be able to help you. Another is Seth Staples at Rim Country Rifles. He lives in Parks. He makes awesome rifles and does great work. Those would be my top two choices. -

Funny i was thinkin 1 for kids beverages and 1 for adult beverages. but if there were a list of guys i might give it to you would have to be on the list Brian. You know i fell into the just donate $ its for a good cause and did not even realize that aes had started a hunt for heroes. Being a 100% service connected im so happy to see so much support from our hunting community going to such a cause. Thanks AES Funny I was thinking one for you and one for me! We really gotta work on being on the same page! Now that I know its 100% hunts for heroes, I'm all in. Winning a cooler is icing on the cake. You giving me your extra is having my cake and eating it, too! -

Northern AZ Quail
IA Born replied to mgorm16640's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
5 or so years ago, I ran into a covey over north of the Welch Road exit while archery deer hunting in December. I was completely surprised and have never made it back over there. I need to go check it out sometime. -
I got my daughter an Axis youth in 7mm-08 and she loves it. She's 11 now and been shooting it for two years. Its pre-accutrigger so I had a Timney trigger put in and set at 3.5 lbs. That thing is awesome! It shoots 139 gr Hornadys well and 140 gr Barnes TTSX handloads even better! I had a brake put on as an extra precaution to ease recoil and she's put two boxes down range in one sitting!

Not sure anything I said was new, but my wife is a saint for her tolerance. Sounds like we need to commiserate and drown our sorrows over a 6-pack (because I rarely drink anymore)!

That was my greatest love growing up in Iowa and its the thing I miss the most about back there. There isn't much better than seeing a dog freeze on point and seeing (and hearing) that rooster flush! Congrats! -
I could have stopped after reading your insights. I haven't been on a dream hunt like that, but I share the same feelings. I've walked away from hunting an afternoon/evening up here within 15 minutes of my house because I didn't want to leave a badminton game with my wife and kids (when they were younger). Mt goat and Dall sheep are still high on my bucket list and the pics made it better. Congrats on a great hunt and billy!

Depending on how far you are willing to travel, you can make sure and let AGFD know that travel is an option (if it is). Up here in Flagstaff, we ended up organizing quarterly range days for online students because of the overwhelming demand. Most of our online field days are filled by non-locals and most of them are from the valley. Unfortunately, our next one won't be until sometime in April. I think more HE teams need to start moving that way to keep up with demand, especially when, like this fall, there were 600+ kids who had tags, but no hunter ed class completed at the time of the draw. If you can find a regular class, you might be able to get in on their field day. We've also done that up here and I've worked with other HE teams that have. Good luck and I hope it works out.

I'm right there with you. Archery javelina for me, youth javelina for my daughter, and 18 points for birds. Except "crazy" isn't the first word that comes to mind! Unbelievable! Again, not the first word that comes to mind! But Ringer's post above may give me hope.

If I remember correctly, mine was both a voluntary and involuntary gag! But it was the only lunch I had, so I kinda made do! I was too young gor beer back then, but I chugged a Pepsi or two!

Same here. You're killing me, Smalls!

TRKHNTR is dead on. I can probably put you in touch with the right folks in our office to get the paperwork started, but an outfitter should have all you need. I know the guy I'll go with (when the time comes) has all the paperwork for his clients.

Best memories right there. If I ever want to fish for myself, I have to go alone or with a buddy. All of my family fishing is exactly as you described it! I will say that now that my daughter is older, I actually get to do some fishing for myself! Great job, dad!

Fly fishing is one of my greatest loves. I can easily see how people get snobby about it. My snobby-ness only goes as far as I'd rather fish a dry fly than a nymph. I simply love fishing too much to be a fly fishing snob. I grew up in central Iowa spending almost every free weekend in the summer catching catfish with stinkbait on the Des Moines River below Red Rock Dam. How can anyone who has those roots be an elitist? And let me tell you, that Doc's stinkbait looks an awful lot like peanut butter, so its easy to not realize it when it gets on your PB&J! But it sure as #%$# doesn't taste like peanut butter!

Set up text alerts on your credit card. You'll know instantly if you get a charge. I set mine up to alert me of any charges over $10. As long as the amount meets my parameter, I'll get an alert before the cashier even closes the drawer. Pretty slick! It's notified me of several tags in real time. I'm going to have to look into that! I wasn't selected for jury duty this morning, so I'll be able to call in! But I'll definitely look into the text alerts! Thanks!

I just got chills, duckhunter! If (when) you were in Vicenza, then you've seen that profile pic of my dad. Last I knew it was hanging in a memorial/history section somewhere on base. He was there for the reactivation ceremony. I used to go to reunions all the time and those guys (and wives) have been more family to me than most blood. I know you get that. I've been to one reunion since my dad died. It was tough being there without him. I'm about ready to go back so my kids can learn more about the grandpa they never met. I read Sal's book a couple of years ago and have kept up with events in the Korengal. You have my utmost respect and unwavering appreciation and thanks. If there is ever ANYTHING I can do from here, don't hesitate! AATW!

I've been thinking about it since Halloween. That's when I started calling my credit card to check for hits!
