Weird - I never even knew they had burgers. I might have to try it, but... it's hard to go there and NOT get a build-your-own calzone.

Hey guys, I've recently finished restoring an older jeep that I plan to use almost completely for off-highway driving. Of course, in order to be registered, it needs to be insured. I was just wondering what you guys have found for cheap insurance for a situation like this. It will be driven mostly on forest service roads, but some street driving. It will be driven very few miles per year, so a per-mile type plan may be worth looking into. Thanks for any suggestions.

Man I too remember the old days at Lee's Ferry. My dad and I would go all the way up to the dam and drift down. Sometimes with our fly gear, but 2 & 3" rebels would catch them all day. We lugged a watermelon up there, kept it in the water and after dark, it was amazing. One of those places where in the sun and sand it was like an oven. The water was so cold you couldn't stay in it more than a couple seconds. Setting a cot right on the water's edge late afternoon was like heaven.

Great info. Thanks.

1980 cj7. This is the first I've heard of collector's car insurance. I'll look into that.

My wife and I sat through the line at in-and-out to see what the hype was all about and couldn't believe how popular it is. Greasy, bland - just yuck. Up here, Mr. Zeke's makes some good burgers, as does Persnikkity's (The Fire House is good if you like it spicy). Pinetop Brewing Company's Pinetop Burger used to be one of the best "eating out" burgers I've ever had but I hear it's gone downhill since the owners are no longer managing it hands-on. Still worth going in just for the beer - very good IMO. The Abbot is outstanding if you like that style. Generally, I don't order burgers out because I'm partial to my own elk burgers - hard to beat if I do say so myself . Have a great weekend.

I have the AGC as well, and really like it. As mentioned it is pretty bulky but (not sure if these apply to you) I like the ability to have my range finder inside the front pocket, usually my cell phone on top, there's room for calls/wind indicator/etc and even my leatherman. Makes it nice when you have a backpack on and need to get to certain things quickly without taking off your pack or having them stuffed in your pockets.

I was just wondering where you guys get real info on stuff like this because a ton of it is blocked and/or never makes it to the MSM.

I agree with the comments on the Attack pants. I love them for hunting but have regular colors I wear daily. As I get older my butt has shrunk and these are about the only pants that move with me and don't want to fall down.

Congratulations, Ammon! Nothing like the kiddos' first! I called in a nice tom with one of your calls this weekend and ended up dropping the ball at the one yard line (shot too early). They really are great calls.

Nice - I'm hoping to get down there for some bowfishing and maybe some night crappie fishing this weekend.

For starters, I'm about to take off on vacation for 2 weeks hitting S. Utah fishing mountain lakes, hiking slot canyons, etc. So I hate to drop such a technical question and then run off, but I'd really like to see what you guys think about this. I'd really like a serious long range rifle, with a scope calibrated to use turretts, like you see on Best of the West, etc. So I have a couple of questions. 1) Starting with the action, is the Rem 700 the absolute best for this kind of setup? 2) Caliber: Sure it's gotta be on the large size, but is it 7mm, .300 or somewhere in between? (7mm STW, 200 WSM, all kinds of options). 3) Trigger: Savage came out a while back with the "accu-trigger" and my cheap Savage 110FP in 35-06 shoots clover leaves. Do you really need to spend big $$ on a custom trigger setup when OTC guns have such good triggers these days? 4) Scope - I want to have a turrett setup, where you just range the target and dial the scope in. I know you don't have to buy a Nightforce or Huskemaw to achieve this. From what I can gather, Leupold will tailor match turretts to your load. You could go to the source of "long range hunting" and buy a nice setup, that's inevitably a Rem 700 action, Huskemaw scope, 7mm Rem Mag, all that, but for around 5K. So, I'm wondering if a guy could pick up solid Savage 114 or Rem 700 CDL, build custom loads, and buy a Leupold scope with their turrett system and still get the kind of long range capabilities of the $5K rifles. I know it will take a lot of patience and practice, but I'd like to build one of these rifles, and not break the bank. Thanks for the feedback, and sorry if I'm slow to repond to any questions. I won't be back at my computer desk until around the 17th of July.

Full sized boat ramp?

The headline is pretty misleading. It implies "No more guides" but what it really says is only 2 guides per hunter - doesn't sound like something that will affect many people.

Sweet rifle!
