I put one of these on my turkey gun - pretty sweet.

The great news is, this high flow is cleaning up the bottom, giving room for the crawdads to thrive, which is, of course, the main food source. It's been hard to watch over the last decade or so with all the fires, gravel banks turning into mud, the gross slimy gray moss. Looking forward to going back in to see if it cleaned out as much as I'm hoping. There were places I could see debris in the trees higher than I could reach, so fingers crossed.

I was there May 6 and it was unfishable. It looked OK at first but moving way too fast, and impossible to cross. Even went to Bonito instead and it was also way too high and fast. Not sure how much it's changed in 11 days.

The old-school swarovski doubler for sure. +1 on any vortex rangefinder - they blow.

That's a great bird, and to do it with a muzzle-loader is even better. What made you decide to use the ML on a hunt that took 26 points to draw? That takes some pretty serious confidence IMO.

Another plus for Hatch - far away, I know but you can probably do most of the legwork by phone or email. Bought my Tundra there in 2016 and was happy with the experience.

My son got a hit - elk, resident, non-youth so it's happening.

Been pretty busy but we had a fun HAM hunt. The piggies were very hard to find, but we glassed up a mountain lion, a coati and tons of deer. He was able to make a great shot at 35 yards with a .357 mag.

I sure appreciate your posts Dan. This is so great to see. I'm in my 50s now and some of my best memories are from fishing San Carlos every spring starting 30+ years ago. It's always been one of my favorite places anywhere. I'm really glad to hear about the re-stocking and totally agree that it's going to rebound quickly. I like the quote from Will Rogers back when Coolidge dam was built "If that was my lake, I'd mow it" lol. Now I just hope there's a plan in place to maybe keep the water in it, at least enough to keep the fish alive from spring to spring.
