Prayers sent. Best wishes on a full and complete recovery.

While I'm super happy for you, I have to admit I'm a little jealous. Some of you guys have an amazing knack for finding those sheds - huge congrats and thanks for sharing. That's pretty darn cool. That takes a lot of time in the woods and hard work.

Kinda sad posting this. The Black River has always been a very special place for me. Certain parts of it I have asked my family to spread my ashes, should they outlive me. The last few trips, I've seen it more congested, more polluted, both from the fire and human disregard. I used to have places I could hike into and never see another person. Now, no matter how far I hike up or down, I find more people. I get that - we all want to enjoy a limited stretch of river. But the attitude has become increasingly hostile. Everyone seems to have the same mentality and frustration. They/we think if we hike far enough we'll get that little stretch of river to our self, if just for a couple of hours. Beyond the people, the river itself isn't doing well. The banks are knee-deep sludge from the fire runoff, and everything is coated with some gooey slime-type algae. It really breaks my heart to go down there and see areas littered in trash and human waste. I used to consider the Black a sanctuary, but it sure isn't what it once was.

Thanks again guys.

I guess I'm a little slow on the uptake here. So the way a person would "sell" their bonus points would be to allow another applicant to apply with them using their accumulated points for a fee, to hopefully get the other person drawn, then surrender their own tag to reinstate their points. Is that correct?

Hey guys, thanks so much. Spent the whole day with the family which is really nice. Going to do a little fish fry of smallies from the Black and our family favorite home made caesar salad.

Remington 870 youth in 20 guage. Shoots 3" turkey loads. My boys have stacked up a bunch of toms with this gun - probably 7+ between them. The others have been taken with a Mossberg 835 that shoots 3.5" 12 GA and kicks harder than a mule but kills anything in front of it.

It's pretty interesting when you start seeing these coolers compared. I had no idea how many there were out there. I've done a little searching and it isn't just one or the other - like Yeti vs Canyon. There's Grizzly, Orca, Pelican, Engle, Siberian. I found this video pretty good, except they brought the Orca 24 hours later than the other coolers.

^^Kinda what I was thinking - for trophy bulls and bucks AZ and NM have a lot to offer. I have been an almost-lifelong resident in AZ and I wouldn't trade our hunting opportunities for any other. That said, NM has tons of opportunities for AZ residents if you know what to look for. But folks I've met up in Montana and surrounding states talk about how easy it is go hunting every year. So it sounds like they've got the quantity (and really cold-azz winters) but either state you mentioned has quality - and if you are smart about the draw system, you can go hunting something big game just about every year. Trophy tags in either state are hard to come by even for residents. Best of luck in you decision.

Definitely one of my favorite all-time movies. Lone Watie has some of the best quotes ever. "I didn't surrender neither, but they took my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon up in Kansas I bet."

These are awesome guns in general, but especially for people who want a semi auto but lack the hand/wrist strength to rack that first round. Being able to pop up the barrel, drop one in and push it back into place seems to work for those who aren't comfortable with a similar walther, etc. Not the exact same gun, but my wife has the Tomcat (.380 version of this one), as does her mom and they both felt this was the best choice between a revolver and other .380 autos. -
As always, Ernesto - fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

You - you'll get more out of it DIY in my honest opinion whether you kill a big bull or not. If you are dead-set on a guide, Jed Larson with A3 knows unit 1 as well as anyone. I don't know Jeff or Lee but they obviously come highly recommended. Shane Koury is local and has worked with Jed a lot. I know he specializes in 3A/3C but is also very familiar with 1.

Hey guys, I know this is not a common subject, but I know a lot of us drive the 05+ 4.0L Tacos and sometimes, due to bad luck or whatever they can fail, and when they do it's costly. I just wanted to share my recent experience in hopes someone can benefit from it. On a recent hunting trip with my boys, a random limb poked my radiator causing a massive loss of coolant. By the time my check engine light came on I already had a warped head. The temp gauge relies on the temp of coolant, and when there is none, it sticks - meaning it will show regular temps even though it is overheating to the point of warping a head or worse. In my case, I pulled over and called a tow but only after one of the heads had warped. After getting it to the dealership I had 2 options from them - one was $4700 to get the head machined, the other was almost $7k for an engine swap - all because I lost my coolant and had no indication of overheating. If you ever find yourself in this situation, you can save a LOT of money by doing it yourself. I bought a matched set of re-manufactured heads online including cams and lifters - pre-assembled and a gasket set for $824 minus core charge. I spent 30+ hours doing the labor myself but found that $105+ labor charge you pay a dealer or your mechanic is money you don't have to spend. It's not trivial or easy but it is very doable. I wouldn't have been able to do it without some outside help from my brother-in-law, but I want to pass on what I learned from him to anyone in this situation.Shoot me a PM or whatever, I have all the pictures I took of the disassembly to the reassembly. It's all about getting the 3 timing chains back *exactly* how they came out and the cams in proper alignment. One tooth off can cause big problems.

I've heard the argument on this forum that people who put out cameras somehow deserve to have them stolen. I just don't get it - stealing is stealing. If it isn't yours, don't touch it. IMO, there's not a lot of difference between someone stealing antlers out of your back yard, or your hunting gear out of your truck, or your entire camp - yeah we've heard a lot about that too, than stealing your camera in the woods.

That looks so amazing. I was just telling my wife I want go down there and do some fishing before too long. Thanks for the story and pictures - getting to enjoy the fresh fish makes it perfect, and clearly you made the best of that as well.

No, I pretty much knew most good shops charge around the same per hour so there may have been some variance in price, but not enough to justify at least trying to do it myself.

Thanks for posting that firstcoues - the best price I've seen was Amazon for $442. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_5?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=sig+kilo+2000&sprefix=sig+k%2Caps%2C186

IMO, the story we rarely hear in the popular media is that in Arizona, concealed carry is as open as open carry and our susceptibility to gun violence is minimal. There are certain areas where gang violence occurs, but outside those areas it's almost statistically nothing. We have the least infringement I know of to carry when, where and how you choose to. If I walk into a Wal Mart I see open carry all the time and assume for every one of those people there are at least 2-3 concealed, conservatively. The dumbest thing someone could do is go into a populated area in small town AZ and try to pull off some type of shooting hoping you would be safe until the cops get there. It really ticks me off that we don't hear more about this when this dumb debate just keeps coming up. People meant on doing harm want to hit the softest target they can find. They know darn well how hard that is when the vast majority is armed. AZ should be held up as the example of how less gun regulation leads to less crime, and how big government "control" in Chicago, Detroit, even our Capital, Washington DC have the tightest gun control laws and highest rates of crimes committed with guns.

Sure glad she was found - obviously comes from a loving home. Thanks for the good news.

As amazing as pretty much all of Jim White's products are/were his doublers were even less effective than the other failures on the market. I still use Jim White tripod adapters on my own and all three sons' binoculars - they are simply perfect. His doubler had the same fate as all the other doublers out there - let's face it, if Swarovski can't put out a good doubler it's probably a doomed concept technologically.

RangeFinder Sling/harness Suggestions
Coach replied to Hike4coues's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Range snap is pretty awesome in it's simplicity. Combined with a badlands bino case all your optics and your rangefinder are right where you need them. My only complaint is the rangefinder sits outside the pouch and gets dust on the lens.
