With all due respect idgaf, I too have a different philosophy when it comes to hunting. However if someone practices enough to become proficient at long range and can do it ethically, I wouldn't consider it "not hunting". It takes a lot of work, kind of like someone who chooses to hunt with a longbow or whatever tool they find gets the most out of the experience. That said, there are a LOT of portrayals of hunting (think hunting tv shows out of a permanent blind over a feedlot) I don't consider hunting at all - so we all have that line. It's different for everyone.

Desertbull, I got mine off gunbroker and that price included shipping. I see some out there now for 69.95 but 20 bucks for shipping. Not long ago I saw a bunch for around $60 - just have to keep an eye out for good deals and ask the seller for combined shipping.

1/2 cup H50BMG, 1/2 cup Reloader 50. Shoot 3, buy a new barrel and start over. LOL. Just kidding. I'd say start with whatever you can find on 26 Nosler as a starting point. I've seen some Youtube vids about the 6.5 x 300 Wby and they claim to get 3500 fps. Interesting concept but my guess is it's gonna be pretty finicky when it comes to powder and bullets.

They're pretty much all mil-spec. I just picked up 3 lowers for $64 each. You can build them as cheap or extravagant as you like from there.

There's an inscription on the rocks down by the Blue, apparently self inscribed by the last mule riding bear hunter - turned professional trapper. I'm guessing that's Lilly. Based on MULEPACKHUNTER's account, and what I know of the Lilly family that I've grown up around, they fit that physical description to a tee. Stout builds and stronger pound-for-pound than usual. With a mean-streak to boot, lol. The last "official story" I heard was the last griz was killed on Escudilla, but who knows for sure?

I was in the Big 5 in Show Low and guy behind the counter was talking about shooting turkey in the eye with a pistol, and they'd still get up and run. I can't believe they still have that guy behind the gun counter. Total BS.

Nicely done. What a brute!

Nice job! Well done on a great hunt and helping your son grow and learn.

I'm really glad that we get the chance to see what is going on. I appreciate what you have brought up, but let's define what we can do to fight it effectively.

Bump for very nice glass.

Last time I'm going to say it (maybe) I hate this new "portal". I should be able to log in and see not only my results but my family too. When I put in my kids hunter ids and birth dates all it shows is bonus points. My CC was hit for other hunts so I know they got drawn but I can't find their results.
-
Ok, I can see my results but not my kids.
-
All I'm seeing on the portal is old stuff.

+1 for the Sig Kilo. I paid $450 for mine and it's worth every penny. If you can get one for $349 it's a steal. They range as well or better than a Leica that costs at least double what the sig does.

Excellent post hoghntr.

I wouldn't post this on the Campfire, but pretty eye-opening.

One thing for sure, the libs have shown their true colors. I wasn't happy either time Obama got elected - neither were a lot of people - but we accepted that as the will of the American public. These whiny cry-babies are burning their own neighborhoods, smashing cars, blocking intersections and just going freaking nuts over *what might happen*. Jeeze, we knew exactly what would happen and didn't freak out. It's hard to comprehend how fragile these little snowflakes are. It's time they got a reality lesson and now maybe they can grow up and save their tantrums for what actually transpires. The sole reason Trump got elected was because these freaking ultra-left socialists were so used to getting their way that enough people said enough is enough. One more take-away from this election that the folks on the left really need to get their heads around is this: Many people who voted for Obama both times came to the polls and voted against Hillary. Many of the the blue strongholds turned red. That's a major indication that they bought into the progressive fantasy and realized they got screwed and lied to. With Hillary under investigation for callous handling of classified information, the unbearable handling of Benghazi which should put her in prison for life, her getting caught in lie after lie, then covering up with more lies - I think the majority of Americans just realized they had two choices. One, a total wild card who will either prove to be a total moron or a good/great leader, and the other who they knew would play underhanded politics, lie (like her husband) and continue the failed policies of the Obama administration. Choosing between the devil you know and the one you don't know went in Trump's favor this time. The whining cry-babies need to get over it.

If you can park it where it's in the sun during the day that helps a bunch. Depending on how your water lines are configured underneath and inside you can do your best to insulate them. I like to keep cabinet doors that have exposed water lines open so the warm air inside the trailer gets in there. As others have said try to keep the cold air from coming under the trailer. Most importantly, if you do run any kind of heater inside have a good carbon monoxide tester (or two) for peace of mind.

BTW, this is not a Trump thing, so much as showing the disparity between beliefs held in congested areas and those outside.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Not just the West, The entire country is mostly red. Why do people in densely populated areas have such a different view than the rest of us?

6.5x284 mule deer/coues gun
Coach replied to trophymaster's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I've had a few hunting rifles over the years. I love my Savage 300 WSM - great gun. My first build was a 6.5x284 Norma and it is by most standards a cheap build. About $1100 total. Savage 110 long action ($250 for a used Savage in .270 from a pawn shop), Shilen match grade heavy sporter barrel, Boyd's stock and the target spring for the accutrigger - just love it. It has one shot kills on every hunt I or my sons have used it on so far including 400 yards on a mule deer off a triclawps and 188 yards off-hand on an antelope. -
Voted Friday - not happy about my choices, but no way my vote is going to an almost guaranteed federal assault weapon ban. I love the premise of this thread and I'm just waiting to see how it falls, but IMO, we're going to be in for a long 4 - 8 years of socialism. Keep in mind the next president gets to appoint the next Supreme Court Justice, and we only one 5-4 the last time they determined if the second amendment was "an individual right". That's correct - the only Right in the Bill of Rights that is questioned whether it applies to you and I could could be overturned by one more leftist on the highest court of the land... Think about that. For the first time AZ is a swing state - every vote counts this year.
