Great post. Coming from out of state a long time ago, hunting javelina was the first step for me in learning to hunt out West. It took a long time and many unfilled tags before I finally started to "get it". Now, with 3 sons who have learned to hunt AZ very well, the challenge of finding javis is still there. I can't think of a more fun youth/family hunt than looking for these crazy little piggies that seem to be everywhere sometimes and other times almost impossible to find. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats again to Kaleigh! It was sure fun watching her put the smack down. Enjoyed meeting you guys out there.

As much as I hate to admit it, it was a "I think maybe this is good enough". We got pretty lucky actually. Overall damage was pretty minimal - considering what it could have been. I appreciate all the input.

The shelter I built to keep my camper out of the elements crashed today under the weight of heavy snow. Fun day for sure.

Thanks guys. So far the damage to the trailer isn't near as bad as I imagined when I got the call from my son about the collapse. Some patching up to do but so far it doesn't appear there was any structural damage. Gonna need a new A/C unit for sure. My ATV trailer is right under the brunt of the fall but it's a lot easier to work on. Crazy how it collapsed, but the dirt here under the snow is basically a swamp right now.

I've got some youth Javelina hunters in 24A/24B starting this weekend and was wondering what kind of snow accumulation to expect. Thanks in advance, Jason

I have a buddy down there now. Think his was around $2500, but haven't heard whether it was a good ranch or deer quality yet.

Nice job. I remember my first. It took a lot of unsuccessful attempts. Congrats.

Really awesome bucks. I've hunted the SC twice and as amazing as the country is, I know that caliber of buck takes a lot of hard work. Great job, Hoss.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a video that was posted here several years back. Some of you might remember it. I believe it was made in the 1950's. It was a couple of guys working their way down Baja in an old truck, fishing and quail hunting in Mexico. Anyone remember it? If you can provide a link, that would be great. Thanks, Coach.

< 1" in Lakeside, but still snowing.

Very cool! Great write-up. I went out Saturday and practiced "catch-and-release" - ha ha. I flat out missed at 40 yards. My excuse is I didn't want to clean one. Fun stalk though!

Huge congrats on an absolutely beautiful buck!!!

When your wife kills a bigger deer than you........

Gotta say - I'm still laughing. -
Wow, that's a great looking buck. Looks to be older - love the double eye guards on both sides.

Saw that billboard from both sides about a dozen times this December. Still spot on - both sides. FWIW, did see a wolf on that hunt. Thought it was a big coyote at first, but a buddy up the hill got it on his phone through a spotting scope and no doubt it was a wolf probably within 15 miles of that sign.

How much effort would you put forth to help someone like this?
Coach replied to GTIMANiac's topic in The Campfire
My oldest son will pull anyone out of any situation. He's seen what it's like to be on both sides and not every lesson I've tried to teach has stuck, but this one sure has. He actually got a card in the mail last week from someone he helped out in a bind. For myself, I'll do whatever I can up to a point - I'm not going to trash my own vehicle pulling someone out (anymore - have done it in the past) but if I have have a chance to help someone in a bind, I find it's best to do what you can for them. -
Clearly, I don't have enough free time on my hands. I've never heard a podcast from anyone.

Members here who were watching certain specials pointed out the Badlands down jacket marked down from $399 to $99. I saw this and immediately thought it was a no-brainer. When it arrived my first thought was "I have shirts a lot thicker than this". I guess my expectation was a full-on goose down coat. Honestly, I bought a goose down coat from Old Navy probably 20 years ago for $7 or something ridiculous that stuffs into its own pocket. When I fluff it out, people give me flack because it looks like I'm the Michelin Man but it is SUPER warm. Same year I bought a goose down vest, also from Old Navy for around $5 on clearance. Warmest vest ever. I haven't worn the Badlands down coat out hunting yet. It's a very slim coat for down and honestly it looks like it would snag easily. Probably better for chilling around the fire. I was just wondering if other members here jumped on this great deal and were disappointed.

Nice! Great job. Loved the footage of critters coming in to water too!

I'm looking forward to seeing how it does in the field, or here around home when I'm blowing snow. Thanks to all who have responded.

Reload or Not to Reload-Choose Wisely
Coach replied to cactusjack's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
David Bowie - Under pressure. That song always comes to mind when I see flattened primers. I "inherited" about 12 pounds of WWI or WWII decomposing powder that just smelled like sulfur and - I don't know, kinda "gassy". Made for good stump removal, but I would never shoot a rifle with that in it. Reloading isn't really a hobby IMO. You can mess up really fast with irreversible consequences if you don't approach it with a certain respect. -
I sure hope this one "poofs out" a little at some point. The whole point of down is the air inside the feathers. So far, this wears more like a jean jacket than a down coat.

I love his conviction, but I agree SF to Vail is kinda like frying pan into the fire. I sure do love his work though - and Lars,
