I'm a fan of the Vortex as far as non-premium glass. One of the few "bargains" in the optics world IMO. -
Hey guys, I just had a white 2002 F250 Super Crew Diesel stolen this weekend - actually, this is the second time in 2 years. The first time, it was stolen out of San Diego - right out of the Sea World parking lot. Somehow, it was found in Tiajuana with no major damage. This time, it was stolen from the Arizona Grand Resort at Baseline and I-10 while we were vacationing. This was not some pimped out, or highly modified "eye magnet". It was a very stock truck with over 100K miles. The response from Tempe PD was pretty telling. They are filling in many reports of these types of trucks stolen EVERY DAY. In fact, at the rental car office, 20 minutes ahead of me was a guy who had an F350 stolen. These things are in high demand. If you are anywhere near the valley, do yourselves a favor and install some type of theft deterrent device. According to Tempe police, they are being used to transport illegals and drugs across the border and are highly favorable right now. Protect your trucks! I wish I had done something. It's a miserable feeling, for sure.

Hey Clay - happy BDay and nice chatting with you. I'm not sure my last PM went through (got an error page after I sent it), but I'll be in a black tacoma double cab.

Well, mine was found. The bad news is, from what the Sherriff's deputy told me, it's pretty banged up. It was in some kind of off-road trail area near Saguaro Lake found by an offroading club. Sounds like the tires have been run bald (brand new tires) banged up body, missing bumper, etc. I can just imagine what kind of damage that kind of abuse can do. No matter what gets fixed, how can I be sure I don't get it back with massive unseen damage?

Funny story - I actually saw a bear like that for a few seconds. I was hunting some remote country in 27 for bears. After two days of glassing and driving without seeing any bears, my buddy and I crested a hill just before sundown. I canvassed a hill and picked up what I assumed to be a big black bovine laying on a hillside. I commented, "Wouldn't it be nice if that big steer was a bear?" Sure enough, the "steer" stood up and turned out the be far and away the biggest black bear I've ever seen in this state. By the time I could get to my rifle and range finder, he/she had ambled off into a thicket. I've gone back a couple of times looking for that monster bear, but have never seen it again. I'd love to know just how big that bear truly was, but the sheer size of it had me convinced it was just WAY too huge to be a bear.

AC Guy - in all honesty, it might have been Phx metro PD - I just assumed we were in Tempe city limits there (wasn't paying too close of attention to his cruiser). So they get a lot there huh? - interesting, 'cause to hear them acting all surprised you'd think it was pretty rare. Dang. No matter now I suppose. My next one is going to have a claymore built into the driver's seat I can set off with a cell phone. Jusk kidding - knowing my luck someone would dial it by accident while I was driving

Thanks everyone. We'll just have to see how it plays out.

OK, I have one for you. Suppose, and of course this is PURELY HYPOTHETICAL ... Your truck is stolen in the valley, then on you're way home through Payson in a rental car, you forget to slow down at the Star Valley photo radar and see the bulb flick. What are the chances that the photo-radar geenies would figure out who was driving the rental car? What if a ticket magically appeared in your mailbox for a rented car? Can they track a rental??? Just asking out of curiosity

Congrats on the tags! Good luck!

Wassssup Craig? Ready for another Corn-Hole stomping??? Coulda figured you for a "feathers" kinda guy! All kidding aside, what did you and the missus draw this year?

We all know what kind of scrutiny and, quite frankly, jealousy, occurs when someone does get a really amazing deer. On the one hand, it would be awesome to be the person who does break the record. On the other hand, it might be something to keep out of the public eye. That is, unless you have really thick skin.

Wow! Great pix. Looks like a honey hole. Welcome to the site.

Good guns to whoever gets them. Always wanted an Ithaca 10 Guage!

Nice shot BH4Life! Right in the boiler room!

Another vote for the 2" Blazers. Especially with broadheads. While shorter and lighter they are a little taller and stablize the broadhead faster in my experience. I shot 4" for years and had a bias against the blazers for some reason - I guess I thought they were a gimmick. When I started tuning a new bow for BH's a few years back I was having a LOT of trouble getting my BHs to group with field points. I switched to Blazers based on some research on the web, and right away my BHs were MUCH closer to my field points. I don't remember all of the technical details right off hand, but just being lighter in the back half of the arrow helped move the FOC (Front of Center) balance, since BH's make the overall arrow length longer. That, combined with the "taller" aspect made my broadheads fly much better.

Back to the typical coues WR, it will definately be broken in the next 3 -5 year IMO. I've seen deer coming out of sevaral units in the past few years that are really getting up there (but people are staying tight lipped about them - certainly not posting pix on the web) and I've heard from Sheep Guides in NM about some of the monsters they've seen from helicopters. Coues are changing their habits, spreading higher into the moutain country every year. With more water, higher quality feed, more cover and less predation, we're going to start seeing coues grow much bigger than we have in the past. Not to mention these deer live where they can't really be glassed. The guys who hunt high, timber/transition areas can probably already attest to the size increase they've seen there. Just look at the archery coues bucks that get posted here - more and more the congo bucks are in the pines with snow on the ground. 7 years ago who was hunting coues in January in the pines??? My guess is the next WR will be taken with a bow. So guys, what's the skinny on the 1 & 2 nontyp?

At 14 I got a Javelina - didn't get my first deer until I was in my 20's. I didn't hunt a lot in my teens - that's why I'm getting my sons started early. Hopefully they'll avoid some of the, er, "questionable situations", that occupied my time back then. Let's just say I thought I was Tommy Lee.

Welcome to the site, and great job on the first pig! I have some sons close to your age, some pix of them in the youth forum. Ya'll probably have a lot in common. This is a great place to share information and meet good folks. I hope you enjoy it.

With my Knight LRH, I like to go simple. 2 50 grain 777 pellets with 250 grain TC shockwave sabots shoot like a center fire out to 350 yards. 3 pellets grow the groups and waste powder. Good luck.

The buck that got away.

Wise words from Tuco!!! Great buck - good luck finding him bigger and cagier than ever this year! -
Great looking bull - I'd put him over 350, but that's just me. Sorry about the camera - I think a guy could make a killin' (pun intended) making exploding trail cameras.
-
Here's my biggest... And here's my prettiest - not a very good pic though - back before digital cameras.

Not sure if this ranch had anything to do with Spidey. I kind of doubt it, or there probably would have been pictures of him there.
