Kuiu Rain Gear - have questions regarding men's sizing
azpredator@work replied to naturegirl's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Get his measurements and call kuiu. They're great to deal with. Im 5'11 / 195 and a large fits me great. Its a bit long in the arms, but i have short arms. Kuiu has extended back length built in so no need to order a size bigger for length to cover your lower back. -
Awesome. Congrats!

Well, the hunt has passed and now it's time to begin planning next year's adventures. We ended up driving all night Friday night and arriving to a spot Saturday morning @ 3:50am. Just enough time to shower and change clothes. Saturday we found 8 bucks and my son shot his buck Saturday afternoon. A nice little 6 pt @ 338 yds. Sunday through Wednesday was some of the worst winds I have ever hunted in. It was miserable to say the least. I was stuck on taking a 75" 8pt or better or go home empty handed. Well, I went home empty handed. Even though the winds made it extremely difficult to glass we were able to see 111 deer in 5 days with 19 of those being bucks. I only saw 2 - 8pts and missed my shot on both of them . Over 300 practice rounds did me no favors with 30mph winds. I learned a few things hunting down south. Lots of stickers everywhere. Mountains are a lot steeper than they appear. Deer densities are insane. I WILL BE BACK My son boiled his rack and we'll put it on a plaque in his room once finished. Wanted to say thanks to Oneshot on this forum. Very generous guy. Thanks, Wade

I'm jealous. Got a 12 hr workday, son's football game and 8 hr drive before I can join the "right now" club. I'm currently in the "24 hrs from now" group.

My buddy drew the archery tag and has been out and has not been able to locate many deer and nothing that he can pattern. He's planning on hunting the entire hunt. After his call of desperation this morning I am going to sacrifice my archery hunt to help him out (he'll owe me big time ). We figured he'd be in a better spot this close to the season. Have any of you had this tag in the past? Definately looking for all the help we can get at this point. Thanks a bunch, Wade

I have no knowledge of rifles so I need help. My scope says to turn it counterclockwise to go up and clockwise to go down. It does just the opposite. Is the scope jacked up or am I missing something? Please help. zeiss hd 5-25

Thanks for the suggestion. I spent a lot of time glassing 1.25 days on the way to greaterville. Glassed up a lot of does, but no bucks. That side of the unit seems to have a lot of "traffic" as it seemed like under every good shade tree was an old blanket, ripped up backpack or other litter left behind. Also found a wash with 2 gallon jugs of water, a loaf of bread and bologne. I marked that area as one not to return...

Man, I love southern AZ. So much wildlife - you forget about that when you live in a place like I do . Well, 30 minutes after setting up the glass I spot 3 bucks. All 8pts from 70"-85". My son and I aren't looking for giants so all 3 are shooters in our eyes. Next critter I run into was a nice sized horned toad. He was quite friendly and seemed to enjoy being apart of some picture taking. Continuing on I ran into a doe and fawn. The doe wandered over the ridge, but her fawn stuck around long enough for me to drop my pack a snap a quick pic. I went to a spot a CWT member told me about and started up a canyon that took around 30 minutes to hike. Within 20 minutes I jumped up a bear and a herd of javelina. Coming back from the spot in the same ravine I come across 4 turkey. While I still had my camera out I hiked a short distance further and jumped this bedded doe The next day I traveled to a different side of the unit and found this guy. He didn't want to be photographed very much and "hissed" his way into some cover. His total length was approx 13".

WHAT RIFLE WILL YOU BE SHOOTING THIS SEASON?
azpredator@work replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Some nice rifles out there guys - if only the deer knew what is heading there way The end of the month hunt in 34a will be the maiden voyage for both my son's rig and mine. My son's rig is a Sako A7 300 WIN MAG topped with a VX3 6.5 x 20. Mine is a Sako 85 300 WSM topped with a Zeiss HD 5 x 25. Both zeroed in @ 200yds and have 90 practice rounds each down the tube. Any bucks around 80" at 500 yds or under won't stand a chance. -
good deal...

Great job Kyle

I never include hunting and school work together. Hunting to me is a sacred time of year to enjoy with my son and no matter what he has done previous to the hunt that time is to forget everything else and further develop the bond between him and myself. I love to take away his playstation and I-pod

Ever dreamed about hunting Co OTC elk? Or maybe, thought about it, but didn't know where to start? I've done it 3 times and will be heading there again this september. I would like to cut costs this year and am looking for a partner to help share costs. I know the area - it's beautiful and there are plenty of elk. Let me know if you are interested. Will be leaving Friday hunting for 8 days and returning Sunday - unless both tag out early. Not worried about experience just looking for a mentally strong hunter - I don't like whiners. Might be hot ('08), might be cold('09), elk may be silent('08), bulls might be broken('06), bulls may have cows('09), mountain lion may be in area('08), etc. There are always a hundred different scenarios a hunter must overcome to be successful. PM me with any questions and if you are interested. Thanks, Wade
