black bear hunt in unit 22?

What is this, the hatchery?? lol. Or is this where that guy had his foot attacked..... -
Well, 1 minute to scroll through here looking for the picture seems to have been a wasted time.......lol

400 is a big bull to everybody. So 400. Its everyone's dream. Why not just shoot for it. All elk have big racks, that's why everyone wants to hunt them. Its the biggest bone in the US. No staggs here. Anyways. I want a 400 bull, but there isn't a ton of them.

Cool story! You give us all hope!!!

Very nice bull! I also have a 270wsm. Do you really think those accubonds performed bad? I was considering these. At the range they should have been fully expanded. Did you find one at all?

Awesome bull! What kind of broadhead did such a great job??

Hunt this October and use your bow. This is a good chance to go get a feel for AZ bear hunting. Spring archery is best for when you have a bear patterned at water, food, or a trail. August is good for skinny summer bears. Oct is rifle but that means you can use archery, handgun, shotgun, rifle. You can try to call or spot and stalk. Also, bears don't hibernate the same in az as they do in places like CO or AK. More of a nap, or multiple long naps here in az. I'll be calling this Oct with a shotgun and 3 inch slugs. Just some thoughts......

I would say keep it simple. The heavier your pack, the less distance you'll travel, making it futile. I use the largest camelback they have. It holds 1.5 gallons. You can survive off this for at least two days with rationing and cooking food. I have a pump also but rather just take some water because sometimes the water sources dry up. knife sharpener gamebag mountainhouse Jetboil optics tripod rope sleep pad tarp spoon jerky(carefull, it can dehydrate you) caffiene(same here, use for pack out) tylenol rain gear lighter

My Brothers 1st Archery Bull Elk Unit 27

Cool story! Thats a hard hunt for you. 27 is pretty hard on the body. -
Here it is. I'm right on his back pulling on the neck scruff to get his head up for a pic. You can see my knee on the left. This was in Canada. A 400 pound black bear is a good goal. Sorry about the pic, this was from a wind-up camera.

Looks huge to me! Usually in AZ the hunters sit a few feet behind the bear so they can make it look bigger. He's right on top. I killed a bear and took pics on top of it. Looked pretty much like that and it was 400 pounds, it had a smaller skull then this I think. Maybe I can find the pic.

Really cool video! Thanks for sharing.
