  5. I would agree with both hunter4life and coosefan - butcher the meat yourself cut all fat and remove the meat from the bone I also heard the same about water I have read that it will trigger bacteria. I would also suggest not freezing the meat prior to butchering. When thawed and re-freeze I think you loose some of the blood and other juices. Not sure just an opinion. azyoung

    Found this today

That is sad. I found a calf elk with its back leg wound up between the to strand and the next on down. She had been dead for a few days and last month up on the Paria we found a huge owl with its wing caught in the top strand it looked as if it just died. real sad! azyoung

    Quail Question

No unfortunately I don’t live there – Yet! My last name is Young. I do have a good friend that lives there and we spend a lot of time in Young.I agree the country looks great for mearns but I have to admit most of the country I walk is more open cactus hills. We caught this covey off the 54 Rd. down in the oaks and my son was able to pull a double. I glad to discover some mearns a little closer to home. I just sorry the season is almost over. Thanks for the replies!
  18. Just curious I have been hunting and messing around 23 country for a good 35 years and never seen mearns quail until last weekend. I jumped a covey near Young. Are they expanding their range or have they always been there? It looks like great mearns country just never seen them that far north in the state. azyoung

When the BP arrest these people they make them pick up trash for a few day before they deport them and have them carry this crap back over the border.

    looling for a coyote rifle

I also prefer the 22-250 I shoot hand loads. 40 Gr sierra hollow point with IMR 4064 not real fast. Shot yotes and bobcats with very little damage. I actually get full penetration with little expansion. The 40 Gr sierra is harder than your average hollow point. I have also shot several javelina and one Coues when I had rifle problems with my .300 win. azyoung

I agree with younghunter last fall did not seem as bad as years past but we camped in the Jr. Camp and that Monday after everyone left some illegal’s helped themselves to my food stock and sodas. It always gives me an uneasy feeling down along the border but I love hunting there. It just sucks to glassing some prime Coues real-estate and find 10 illegal’s walking through the same canyon. We also gave direction to 3 illegals walking north and asked us wich way to mexico. Must of been drug runners trying to return. azyoung
