Just click full version at the bottom. Only way to post pictures from your phone I believe.

Well it wasn't the easiest hike but I made it over to the shed and it ended up being a 7 point. Thanks for the coordinates Terry, we had it glassed up in 5 minutes. Here's some pics-

Is that 7.5 foot? -
I try to always use my phone because when I go through the new content and click on a thread that I've already read some comments but not all of them it will take me back to the spot I left off from. I do have trouble quoting most of the time but I cant comment on copy and paste. Haven't posted too many links if any.

I got your email and I'll take that challenge. I should be able to make it over there on Friday so if I find it I will post the close up!

Having a hard time telling from the picture. Did it look like a big shed?
-
I have still only glassed one shed but it doesn't really count. It was only about 100 yards away through my 10s while we tracked a blood trail. I'll go pick that shed up for you next week if it's a nasty hike. I'll be up Thursday night till Sunday for the 4th of July!

Biggest gila I've ever seen. But I've only seen a handful.

That bull sure is getting comfy. I got pictures text to me yesterday from someone else's garden. Lol

I can see the complaint with the drawn archery deer tags. Maybe they could add the drawn archery deer tags to the elk/antelope draw but that is doubtful since the regs aren't out by then.
-
With all that deer talk I was really thinking that was going to be a big Muley as I was glancing at it while reading. Awesome picture tho! Good luck in the draw, you should be hunting deer somewhere with all those apps in.

I watched those elk one archery season and all the archers chasing them around for about a week one year. I think one kid stuck a cow but I don't know if he ever recovered it. There was a pop up blind out there and one day the big bull in the lake got pushed right to the blind. Thought I was going to get to see the bull get taken when he went by it at 20 yards but I guess no one was in the blind.

I think when I first seen him he was probably only a couple 100 yards. Didn't have a call with me so I was just doing lip squeaks with my hand so he probably never heard me. I always mix up when the best season is to call for bear but thought it was the fall season. Is that correct? -

Where was the bear sleeping? In never noticed you? How far was the shot. So many questions... I thought I had posted these pictures before but I'm not sure so here they are. Not a great bear but it's a bear and he appeared to be sleeping to me. Here is the original picture I took. Here is after I tried to enhance it a bit. Here is pretty much the whole story about it. Probably too many details for an unsuccessful shot but oh well. I had been glassing most the morning off the point of a dead end road that looked into some good country. Finally decided to head in a little deeper and get a different view around 1030 am. I got to the bottom and was gonna work my way up another ridge to glass down from when I caught movement up on the hill I had planned to glass. Pulled up my 10s to check the movement and it was a bear moving across the hill side but by the time I pulled up my rifle he was gone. I wasn't sure what to do and figured he would drop down into the thick wash before I could get high enough to see him so I just sat down and tried varmint calling for 30 minutes. I got impatient and headed up the ridge to see if I could pick him back up. Once I got to the top and started glassing it wasn't 10 minutes before I picked up the bear laying down in a fairly open spot. That's when the fever kicked in and I'm still kicking myself. I spent a long time trying to steady my hand enough to find the bear in the range finder and get the yardage on him. Mistake one was not hooking the range to the tripod. Once I was able to actually find him in the range I was getting several different numbers and just figured him at 500 yards. Then I had to see if I could hold my scope steady to even get a shot which wasn't working out very well since I couldn't get over the excitement of taking my first shot at a bear. (Rookie I know) Well I finally figured I was calm enough to let one fly and sent it down range. After the shot I found him in the same position and empty the other 2 rounds i had loaded in the rifle. I couldn't tell where I hit and never seen the bear leave. I got back on the spotter and started searching but never turned him up. So I locked my spotter onto the yucca he was under and made a call to my dad and brother in Phoenix to come help me look for blood. I hiked out to where I thought he was which and couldn't find anything. I marked the spot and started walking back to camp to meet them but left the spotter locked on that yucca. When they arrived we made the hike and my dad stayed in the spotter to let us know when we got to the right spot. We went to where I had checked originally and it wasn't even close to where I was suppose to be. Anyways, we finally made it to the bear bed and no blood. He headed down hill and we followed his track for about a quarter mile just incase and still no blood and the shot ended up only being about 400 yards. Should of been a chip shot and dead bear. Pretty heart breaking but I learned a lot and plan to spend more time looking for bears to hopefully redeem myself. -

I started to get the bear itch last year when I missed a cinnamon on my Coues hunt. Still kicking myself for missing an easy shot on a sleeping bear. I'll probably never get such a nice set up again by accident. Haven't figured out how to start bear hunting but I know I'll be back where I missed last year once season opens to see if he's still around. -

They finally changed it sometime this year. I was pretty excited because I have paid for a lot of duplicates. I don't know if it will work if you buy a license through a vendor like sportsmans, walmart, cabellas or bass pro tho. -

bonecollector: if you purchase them online you can now go in and reprint at any time at no cost. Once you get to the page where you can: Apply for a draw, Check bonus points, or update billing if you look in the writing above those 3 tabs you will see: NO HUNTING LICENSE WILL BE MAILED TO YOU: and at the end there is a link to click that says "reprint license" to the OP, I have no clue about your situation. seems like a screwed up deal if you did already have the license you would of bought for the spring draw. -

You have 30 minutes to have a paper app dropped off. Not sure how close you are to an office tho -
5A is the unit I hunt the most and I don't know anyone with the early archery tag. I won't be able to do the full 2 weeks but I will be up there on and off during the hunt because it is of course the best time or year. Not sure how well you know the unit but when it gets closer to the hunt and you know where you will be camping/hunting shoot me a PM and I could stop by to say hello or go hunting with you if you are up for that. If you are having a hard time finding elk before/during the hunt, let me know and maybe I can point you to a couple areas.

My dad just put my little sister through the online course and field day this year before turkey season. I didn't see any of it first hand but she did try quizzing me on some of the things that she learned. Personally, I wanted her to take the traditional class but she carried the shot gun durning the turkey hunt as safe as can be, so the online can't be too bad. Funny story- I took the traditional class when I was 10 and 11 because I thought I would get an extra bonus point. The instructor didn't realize I had gone through it already until the last day with the test. He didn't even let me take the test.

I was archery deer/turkey hunting the first year I got into archery. I had a tree stand and camera up that I hadn't really had any action on but I sat it anyways. Well the second night we got pretty hammered and I didn't make it to the tree till probably 10 and of course i had a bunch of turkey's go through a couple hours before I showed up. I don't take any booze on hunting trips now.

We had a decent 3x3 coues come into our turkey call on April 27th still packing. Came into 25 yards and could not figure me out for several minutes. Studly buck in the OP tho!

I have been extremely frustrated with mine several times with the same issue. I believe it is user error on my part and I've been wanting to go take the class at sportsmans on Phoenix and just haven't got around to it. I have gone way out of my way several times following that stupid arrow when I knew the direction didn't seem right but thought the computer must be smarter than me. I don't pay any attention to the arrow now and just make sure I am getting closer according to "distance to destination" I know there's also a lot of other features this unit provides that I haven't learned to use yet such as marking points from a distance which would be useful. One other thing I have trouble with is when I choose to go to a way point and tell it to follow the road it usually doesn't work unless I'm on a high way. Not a huge deal tho. Sorry for the long post but I thought I would throw it out there. It probably sounds like I hate this particular GPS but it's actually the best I've used so far.
