Thanks everyone. I had some conflicting stories when I asked a few buddies so I thought I should check. Kind of figured so I looked up the ARS and took a screen shot. Thought it would help to start quoting ARS numbers if I am getting harassed.

I'll be heading up tonight so I don't have to leave so early in the morning. Gonna hunt a half day before I have to come back for something tomorrow night. Then I'll be off to globe Saturday morning. Can't wait for Mexican food!

Last day of my hunt last year I was sitting in my glassing spot waiting for the blizzard to quit so I could start glassing. My dad got sick of being cold and headed for the truck. He radioed to let me know he was watching a nice buck with the heater on feeding 10 yards off the road. Of course he was gone before I made the hike back. +1 to what everyone else has said tho. Glass everywhere, focus on shade/cover

Wouldn't want to mess with that lady standing over the buck with rifle and knife in hand!

Squirrel is still small game and I believe kids under 10 can hunt under a licensed guardian. Don't think the method of take should change anything. Not sure on the other questions

Getting drawn and calling bulls is 2 different things. I know some don't want to hear this but I call bulls every year, love it. Hunt me with a camera. I'll be on the camera this year since no one has an archery tag for the first time since 2008 and I am kind of excited about it. Just bought Photoshop last week so I could start editing all my video into something worth watching and I can't wait to get some new video this year. I probably won't be using a hoochie mama but I do think there are ways to use it that won't scatter elk. (Don't point it at them and squeeze it as loud as possible for one) Every September/October offers a chance to sharpen your calling tho. Tag or not!

How far north are you? I'm at 107th and deer valley and it was pretty flooded this morning but not that bad.

Sounds like you are one lucky SOB when it comes to tags and I thought I had it good.

I've seen deer in an active prescribed burn that was still smoldering and they were eating something right in the black. Figured they had to be eating charred wood and plants. Maybe it helps settle an upset stomach like a person eating charcoal tablets?

Just because he's not a 4X4 doesn't make him a coues. Looks all Muley to me.

Do not consume? Never heard of that. Did they give a reason?

Look for the violin on it's abdomen and check for 6 eye balls.

Any hand distress call would work. Buy a couple and see what you like. If you are going with an electronic caller like a fox pro then pretty much all the varmint calls on their have potential and you can purchase more online. Bird distress (wood pecker, blue jay or any bird really) Rabbit distress (there's tons from young to old cotton to jacks) Fawn calls (deer, antelope) Rodent squeakers Live stock distress (chickens, cows, pigs, goats) I don't use these unless I am calling closer to residential areas Pup distress And all your different coyote locators and howls (I don't use these as much because I'm never sure which sounds go to which season)

ABOUT TIME! I didn't receive an email either.

It looks like there's something hanging off the middle of his belly. Anyone know what that would be or am I seeing things?

Glass is the biggest key like everyone has already said and second would be getting comfortable with longer shots in my opinion. Get some good glass and get comfortable glassing and you will start seeing deer. I remember showing up the day before my first coues hunt started in 24a. I wasn't able to scout before the hunt at all with all the hunts that year and had never been to globe to hunt. My dad grew up in globe but didn't hunt much. He took me to the top of the pinals and as soon as we got to the back side I said "we need better glass." Turned around and went to walmart and bought a cheap pair of Nikon 12x. (Best they had). I actually glassed up 2 bucks in the first 20 minutes of light off hand with the cheap glass. Still took me 4 years before I took my first coues but I have slowly upgraded my gear every year and am much more patient sitting in the glass. Keep reading everything you can about coues and keep hunting. Eventually what you've read and what you experience in the field will come together and you'll be wrapping a tag around your first coues.

Those are sweet!

I wouldn't mind a cow tied to a tree while you're at it. Taking a junior on her first hunt this year and hoping she can tag out early.
