That's a whole bunch of studs. I have a question about San Carlos if anyone knows the answer. Last weekend I went from show low to globe on the 60 for the first time and seen the signs for the San Carlos reservation and I kept wanting to get back in there to do some glassing. Problem is I thought I read somewhere that if you pick up a San Carlos tag you are not allowed to scout. Does that also mean if I have no intention of hunting I cannot go in and look/film some animals? I always hear about how big everything is on San Carlos and I would like to go see if I could find some of those beasts on the hoof for fun.

The new forest road management plan. If you don't have one you should get the new official map as to what is an open road. The new rules don't require a closed sign on a road to be closed. The road needs to be on the map as open to be open. That's how I understand it. Maps are free at the office or call them for one. No sign is a bunch of garbage in my opinion. My 2 favorite roads have gates on them that remain open but are closed according to the map. If you don't want me in there close the gate that's already there! Another ridiculous part is when you have to pack an elk 2 miles down a perfectly good road because forest service says it's closed. OUTRAGEOUS! <end rant>

Woman stinks up Market in Pine....what the???
GJMauro12 replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in The Campfire
I would of liked to heard her reason behind it. Sounds more like a school kid prank than a 59 year old woman. -
That sucks! Care to say what unit?

Not sure what the big deal is with having a little bone hanging out of the truck bed. There's no blood or guts it's just antler and I typically get more thumbs up than a thumbs down on the free way. If you have a decent bull down and a bed full of camping gear there ain't much room to hide a 6x6 bull. Meat and hide is always in coolers but the rack and skinned skull get thrown on top of the rest of the junk in the bed. Again, it's only antler they can see with zero blood, meat or gut showing so I don't know what the problem is. Either way I've been enjoying this thread and thought I would chime in so I can find it easier to follow along. -
Good question!

I was in 3B last week and listened to bugles every night. Friday morning I seen a 300ish bull pushing about 15 cows around.

I've had them come to water the day I've set one up before. They did seem on edge about it tho.

Sweet buck! Looks wide and massive! -
I might have to give you a call sometime! Going on 2 years of opening/closing it manually!

I know when I take a jr shooting they get one bullet at a time. Don't like that barrel swinging around when they turn to ask: "did you see that?" Or "did I hit it?
-
Very cool! Reminded me of the witches toe curling up under the house in wizard of oz for some reason when I first seen it. Weird I know. Sweet bull tho!
-
I'll take it!
-
Any more pictures of that bull? Is it just me or is that his G2 that is stretching out forever?

Are 15X's that much of an advantage

I typically sit a whole day on the scope. IT SUCKS but I've got comfortable with it. -

Gotta disagree! I usually hunt with my brother who uses the swaro 15s and I'm always on the vortex razor spotter. Last weekend he wasn't with me so I decided to use the Swaros and was extremely frustrated every time I seen something odd looking tucked into some shade and I couldn't zoom in to rule out if it was an animal or not. I will admit the 15s are nice and he will usually be the first to spot something in reasonable distance but I'll pick up everything outside that distance and still have to check everything he finds to really check size. -
Sweet buck! I still haven't taken an archery coues. Maybe one day. Did you burn a late December tag or early December?
-
Good to hear. I have a pack that I've needed to send back and haven't got around to it. All the buckles I like the most have broke.
-
I'm at 16 points but my plan has been to get that first rifle tag and take the best goat I can find and start putting in for archery afterwards. Can't wait to start chasing goats with a bow. Looks like a blast.
-
I have a pocket full of tags like everyone else does this time of year. I plan on heading up today to an area that is open for rifle bear also. Is it illegal to carry my rifle and bow into my glassing spot so I can attempt to go after either a deer or bear if I glass one up.

I have the badlands hypervent and wouldn't mind having the matching Fanny pack but I don't feel like driving to Tucson. Do you ever make it to Phoenix?
