    Goat Check

Well these two bucks are on top of the list so far unless I can turn up a better Buck in 6 weekends otherwise I'll be making the decision between big prongs or more length. Might be leaning towards prongs right now.

    Goat Check

4 archery, but I don't think its a very archery friendly unit.

    Goat Check

Here's a picture of that buck from the back. One more of about the same angle as the first. And this buck just wouldn't let us get video of him two mornings in a row. This is the best thing I got. He's not real tall but his cutters look huge and flare out.

    Goat Check

Thanks for all the responses. i think I've looked at close to 15 bucks so far this year and have found 2 so far that really stand out. Guess I'll just keep looking for another month and a half to see if I can turn anything bigger up. Might be time to pul the plug on this truck. Running through cv axels like they're going out of style.

    Goat Check

I didn't get much for pictures on this buck, but do you guys think this is more of what i should be looking for? Think he might hit the 75 mark?

    Designated Dispersed Camping

I don't think this lady was joking. She was in camp for at least 30 minutes and there was definitely no giggles during that time. She was all about business asking if I had been traveling on any closed roads yet and wanted me to download the forest service maps onto my garmin rino because the maps I had didn't show the road closures.

    Designated Dispersed Camping

That's what I don't agree with. If there's a gate and you don't want me on the road then lock the gate that's already their. With that said- I try to obey the road closures except the ones I just don't agree with. I believe the road closure excuse was to prevent further destruction of the habitat and yet they just graded a closed road. On the camping side of it I would probably follow the rules just because I don't want to spend all the time it takes to set up the wall tent to be told to take it down and move. Last archery season, we had just finished setting the tent up when forest service pulled in and pulled out her map and said good news, you're in a designated camping spot so I don't have to make you move.

    Sinking feeling....Monday hits only thread!

Seems a bit unrealistic. If there's 3-4 people in the draw department they should be able to crank through quite a few calls in two 8 hour days. Even if the calls are answered it should be less than a 10 minute call to take credit card info.

    Sinking feeling....Monday hits only thread!

So if everything went extremely smooth and they were done running cards by Saturday, they had Monday and Tuesday to make declined card calls and Wednesday to redraw for those that didn't update their card within the 2 day time frame then what's the chance we'll have results by this Friday? A long shot I would imagine but here's to dreaming. Doesn't really matter to me. I'm sure they overlooked my 1st choice late December tag and gave me the October hunt again.

    5B North Bulls

Should be a fun hunt. I had the archery bull tag there in 2009 and 2010. Shouldn't be hard for you to find a cow once the hhnt starts.

    Bee keeper

Most keepers won't take a wild hive as far as I know. They don't want to farm an Africanized hive because they're so aggressive and can take over his other hives. As stated above, they might not seem aggressive now because they haven't been there long but more than likely Africanized. The more established the hive becomes the more aggressive They will get.

Best way to review SD cards in field

^same here. I'll use my Nikon coolpix to check the angle when I set it up and then I will usually swap the card when I check it but I'll bring the coolpix to look at the pictures before walking out.

    Ground Elk Recipes

Haven't read all the responses yet so I don't know if it was mentioned yet but I like to do stuffed bell peppers. There's lots of different bell pepper recipes if you Google it. Can't beat spaghetti or meat loaf either.

Hunting License Dates - Why the overlap?

You didn't need to buy new licenses for the draw. You just need a valid license while the draw process takes place and then again before the first day of the hunt starts is the way I understand it. Basically you just lost four months of a license you already paid for and your new license expiration anniversary is June 7th. Do not buy another license in the coming spring or Elk draw. Wait till June of 2016 deer draw and buy your next license. Unless of course you want to go plead with game and fish to fix it.
  25. I say make them take the class but if you really want them to get a taste for hunting before the class then you could take them to California and shoot a ranch hog or sheep. I don't believe they require hunters Ed cause my buddy took his 5 year old to shoot a hog.
