Seen two antelope bucks in the trees yesterday above the rim.

Thank you! I put a ton of time into it last year and had a blast for my first antelope hunt. I was stressing most the summer thinking I wouldn't find a goat worth 17 points and second guessing the unit I applied for but In the end I was happy with how things turned out and I really like the goat I took. Can't wait to see him on the wall and I'll post some pictures once the taxi work is done. Wish I could go more often but hopefully I'll pull an archery tag soon. Good luck on your hunt and start posting pictures once you find out which unit you got. If you're planning to scout hard yourself and try to pick a buck before the hunt I would say just have fun with it. Its a lot of hot dusty miles through the summer.

I drew the rifle antelope last year. I did my own scouting but I did post pictures on here through out the year to help judge what I should be going after. I wouldn't call it escorting, I would call it sharing and discussing. Lol I feel like I can judge an antelope better than last year but still not that great but if you post some pictures once you get started you'll get lots of replies on what people think.

I would Check with your bank/credit card company if they were all on one account/card. They could see $135 charged 3 times at the same time from the Same vendor/ G$F and assumed it was a mistake or fraudulent charges. I thought someone had run into that scenario On here before.

I'll let you guys know in October Because it looks like I'm going to 27! I don't know anything about 27 but My theory/dream is that later week is going to be a blast of a rut fest. There's going to be a few less studs from the rifle hunters of course but I'm not looking for a 400" bull and I wouldn't think 40 tags is going to put that much pressure on the elk.
-
didn't even think about 4 antelope tags. Guess I just couldn't imagine 4 antelope tags in one family/ group in the same year but my buddy got hit for 3 antelope tags today!
-
1 elk tag= $135 X 2 = $270 + $90 (Antelope Tag) = $360 wouldn't let me quote but this would be sams calculations I would think

I use my capital one card for all my tags and its set up with text alerts. I got a text at 8:27 AM. I put my girl friend in with my desert schools account. I noticed this morning that it hadn't shown any transactions since yesterday and I bought a coffee on the way to work that wasn't showing up either. I drove down to the bank when they opened at 10 and asked if there were any charges processing for $135.Yup she got her first elk tag!

Still trying to catch up to the last page but I just got hit for elk

I am also a business owner that has had thoughts about walking away hoping I could go make money doing what I love to do but I've been taking hunters out for free for several years now and I don't think I could do it. If they were paying customers maybe it would be a different story and I wouldn't have the resentment for helping someone take a great animal, resentment that I'm taking them to my "honey hole" and the next year 3 of their buddies have the same tag and show up in the same spot, or listen to the whining of its too cold, too hot, too sore, why haven't we seen anything, this roads too rough, or how much farther you trying to walk and all the other things people will complain about or expect. I will say the pressure is not fun when you're out there helping someone with a tag in their pocket that knows absolutely nothing about hunting and or the area and can't give you any feed back on when, where or how they want to hunt and all the decisions are left up to you to put them in the right spot to have a successful hunt. Another thing that turns me off from the idea of guiding is the majority of the people I take are just there for the kill and not the hunt and most the time don't want to help after the kill either. I've had guys watch me break down an entire elk and load it up and you can't even get them to hold a leg back while you cut and then they ask when I'll be done so I can make dinner. Then you have the guys you reminded all year to practice shooting And the week before the hunt they shot 3 rounds and said good enough but miss multiple times once the hunts starts. Probably got off topic from what I originally thought would be helpful but you probably get the point to not quit your day job which it doesn't sound like you are doing anyway. I would suggest to just hunt as much as possible with your tags or tag along with everyone else's and build your hunting expertience. I don't think an out of state school would be much use but the Duane Adams sounds like a good idea.

This bull is also from 5BN in 2010. Also with a right antler/pedicle issue like your dads. Does everyone think this is just a genetic flaw in that area or something was damaged during birth/ life? Or maybe it's just something that can show up in any elk herd and not just this particular area. I know There's lots of funky bulls out there and they aren't all from 5BN. Thought it was odd that both these Bulls have an issue on the right side though and from the same Unit.

Got tagged for antelope 3/21/15 which was a Saturday. I expect it to happen towards the end of this week but today would be nice!

I'm not sure if G$F watches Craigslist or just follow up on complaints but my buddy had a run in with G$F on Craigslist. He shot an elk last year and did his own processing. When he was done processing he had kept any scraps he didn't plan to use but didn't want to throw it away. He ended up throwing up the few lbs he had on Craigslist and labeled it not for human consumption but to be used as dog food for $5. One of his buddies let him know that it was illegal for him to sell wild meat shortly after posting the AD. He received a call from a lady looking to buy the scraps after he had been informed and told the lady he was sorry but he found out he is unable to sell the scraps. The lady ended up letting him know that she was with G$F and he just received a verbal warning for his mistake. Not exactly on topic but i thought it was kind of a postive story about G$F for once. Maybe you can let G$F know about the AD and let them investigate it.

My brother got called for the 5A/5B Raymond tag for the escaped buffalo. Hunted hard for the last 9 days of December (the entire hunt) with very little help from G$F. We felt like we got robbed especially when the Raymond G$F officer wouldn't answer the phone or meet with us. Even seen the G$F plane surveying the area during our hunt. I know there were people that got it done before our hunt and after our hunt so maybe we just aren't very good hunters but we did expect a little more help from G$F. Same year my brother got called to buy an archery bear tag to help with nuisance bears in a little town down south. Bought the tag and was given the unit managers number. Gave him a call and he said not to come down until he called us. Never received a call. Won't be bias and I will say my dad bought the cow/ yearling buffalo tag for the house rock hunt in July of 2006 when they called and offered the tag. G$F was with the 4 hunters the whole time and he killed on the last night of the hunt. I believe two other people killed that hunt, and one was a young boy who's dad passed the tag. He missed a couple times and they left early. That's our experiences with the pool tags. It is what it is I guess.

Girlfriend and I are looking to move in together but our dogs don't get along the best and I won paper, rock scissors so my dog gets to stay so unfortunately we have to try and find a good home for her. The dog pound is not an option for her and she has been trying to reach out to as many foster/adoption agencies/ groups that she can find. If any one has any suggestions or if Anyone is interested or know of anyone interested please send them my way and I'll try to answer any questions you might have as quick as I can. The dog is currently staying at 40th street and bell but if you would like to meet the pup in person i can meet up where ever you like within reason. (Ain't driving across state lines but I don't mind a drive somewhere outside of the valley) We just want to do what we can to relocate her. You can PM me, post on this topic, text or call. 623-206-2004. If I don't answer please leave a voice mail and I will get back to you asap.

That could have been a LONG wait. So don't leave us hanging. What did you do? 27 archery! banking on that last week to be a blast if I can get drawn.
-
I'm sitting on 8 and finally pulled the trigger on my application today. I've been back and forth since the regs came out. My original plan was to wait for an early rifle tag but I don't think I have the patience anymore.

We figured shar pei (sp?)and chow but your bets as good as mine. I'm not much of a dog person.
-
heres the ones we had before they were stolen!
-
Never my tags.
-
Probably because you had too many tags last year. G$F just taking you down a notch so you don't get cocky.
-
I hunted 5A last year and had a blast. I don't know if I would use 24 points on it though.

Chad Smith enters plea to harassing wildlife(antelope)

Should hunters constantly beat a dead horse and hen peck like a bunch of women at the hair saloon? Probably not, just shows no class and is very trashy in my opinion. You must not have read the 30 pager they're all so proud of. You would know you won't find class in a group of people you would think should have the good ole boy gentleman type persona you Expect to find in the hunting "community". I was even surprised by the complete disrespect for women in the 30 pager, knowing women and children are on this forum, one of those women being our host. I think most of them take the campfire section a bit too literal and should know who their audience actually is. Most threads usually turn out looking like something You would see on Facebook, leaving me to feel like a hypocrite to say im proud I don't use Facebook or any other social media when really I'm seeing the same Content through another outlet. Good luck beating the dead horse everyone.
