I had a question last night but it was already pretty heated. How are all the different critter groups funded? -

This is what I would like to hear more about. I believe it was prop 109 that was suppose to make that happen but failed. Why did it fail? What could be changed to improve it so that it could pass? How does someone go about bringing that back? Hire a lobbyist? Googles generic answer says a lobbyist costs $5K-$25K a month. Could hunters raise that kind of cash? And for how long? It seems like the goal right now is to drop $250K to hire this ballot initiative company every time the HSUS comes back. Why not drop that money on legislation instead and be done with it. -
I got lucky and found three in the road this year. One was actually from last year on a road I drove several times during last years hunt.

I plan to attend! I have read just about everything i have found on this idea so far including the podcasts and this is what Im understanding so far. Game and fish auctions/raffles off tags to go into a non-political education fund. The funds will be used to raise positive public awareness about the job game and fish does through media outlets. This education may not be political but could have a political impact if a positive light is shined on the Department. Apparently this education will take a financial burden off conserve and protect when it comes to a political fight because the public is already aware of the great job the department does from the education fund. Hopefully swaying a large number of voters to our side for the next ballot initiative. Maybe if conserve and protect is successful in pushing their agenda onto the Department, they have donors lined up to thank them with big donations in addition to buying tags in order for them to fund a political fight. Otherwise I dont see the need for conserve and protect. Im still on the fence but leaning towards a no for me from What Ive heard so far. -

Why is there a need for this organiztion to raise funds to educate? My understanding is that the azgfd can fund an education campaign themselves. This! I seen In a commission meeting about a month ago they were talking about finding vendors such as cabellas to ask if you would like to round up your bill and donate the change to the Arizona game and fish like they do with other things like Phoenix childrens hospital does with fast food restaurants. Why couldnt that be pushed to education. -

The way it was explained to me your 2nd option is correct So If the money goes back to the Department then where does the politics come into play? -

Im so confused with this whole thing. 1-Does game and fish keep the tags and run the raffle/auction in house and the money goes back to them for education? 2- Are the tags transferred to conserve and protect to run the raffle/auction and they hold onto the money for an education program/campaign? -
I could get on board with this is if there was a goal and once that goal was met they're cut off. If a ballot initiative is the main weapon that HSUS has against us. If there is a way for laws to be changed so that a ballot initiative cant be used to change wildlife management. Then why would we need to continue auctioning tags if the goal is met. Give them 1,000 tags over the next five years to run a campaign to change the law and be done with it. Set a timeline and a goal or Im against it from What Ive heard so far. During the podcast I heard a lot about tags and what tags they want but I didnt hear a lot about what the goals were other than education. I dont think we need public education as much as we need the ballot initiative threat taken away.

Pretty sneaky not to post the meetings there. I know I didnt like what I heard on jays podcast. If thats your first time bringing your idea to the public they could of worked on their presentation a little more. -

Is this their face book page? I cant find any meeting announcements on the page for their first 2 meetings. Seems like that would be the first place they would post meetings. -

Arizona Bill Would Ban Mountain Lion, Bobcat Hunting

It was posted on the Facebook page of Arizona sportsmen of wildlife conservation. I believe it was sent in an email by Arizonans for wildlife to the petitioners on their email list. -

Looks like HSUS has decided not to go through with the petition for this year. -
I watched online. I think there were 60+ online viewers. There werent any comments emailed in that was for the ban. At least not that they read out loud.
