AZGFD definitely needs to adopt some ethics rules for its employees. How about wardens are not allowed to apply/hunt for game in the unit they patrol. I can think of two instances where this would alleviate some conflict of interest. Unit 27 warden with an archery bull tag in his pocket doing aerial surveys 1-2 days before season opens, then shooting a 400+ bull he saw from the helicopter(otherwise never would have known about). Unit 3B warden giving his tag to a friend to tag a bull he wounded and didn't recover on last day of the season(then gets 100k for being unreasonably reprimanded). I'm sure there's many, many more cases I'm unaware of. Not defending the guide, personally don't like guides, but rules need to go both ways.

The early 80's fishing and fish quality are long long long gone! And never returning. So just get those stringers out of your head right now. I first fished there at that time and remember my grandpa lamenting we didn't catch a 10+ pounder! Those days are over. HP rules on the Ferry. Get the biggest motor your boat can handle. I had a 15HP on my 14ft similar to that one, and it was slow. Now have a 30HP on a flat bottom river boat that does OK.

I believe you. Was there in February and early May and the fishing was tough with a fly rod. Spin fishing was better but the fish weren't in traditional locations. Used to have 30-50 fish days there almost every time. Now 10 is a great day. Sad to see what has happened.

Drive up to Hawley and Earl Park Lakes and take a look at the empty/dilapidated cabins. Think about how the owners must have, and still do feel about that deal. The apaches in particular take pride in sticking it to the non-members. At least you didn't lose a house, or any money!

Had this same hunt a few years ago. My best friend made it up for a week and was with me when I finally tagged out after 21 days. Little did I know that it would be his last big game hunt. So many great memories up there. My advice is buy, borrow, or rent a tracked vehicle( snowmobile or UTV) and go the opening 4-5 days to the trick tank/salt lick at the west end of the 268 road. They always kill 2-3 good bulls in the first few days at the far west end of the hunt area but you will have to typically get thru some deep snow to get there. After that first 4-5 days I would wait until the last 2 weeks of the hunt and go at it hard. There is no way to avoid the guides, hopefully you only have to deal with 1 or it could get ugly. There is a fakebook group you can join if you want more up to date info, just keep in mind that some of the things posted there are not entirely accurate and may be intended to deter DIY hunters. Wow, after all those years of decimating the unit 33 population they actually have hunts with 150 tags? They used to have several hunts of 750+ tags each. Maybe in a few years it will become a premiere unit again! Buy a lion tag!

Got an Ironwood 650 on sale about 6 months ago. Absolutely love it! Never realized that it would completely replace our oven, literally haven't used the inside oven for months. Has a max temp of 500 which is great. It does eat lots of pellets though, kind of a unexpected expense but totally worth it.

Bought this bow new, both kids started on it and quickly moved to full size bows. Adjusts from 17-30" draw. Can drop the weight down to about 15# i believe, and up to about 50#. Comes with the sight shown, 5 pin. No rest. Shoots nice. Have some older arrows if you want them. $100 Flagstaff.

I've had 4 SuperDuty's stolen. 3 went to Sasabe/Three Points to run drugs and were recovered in west Phoenix 3-4 weeks later. Cartel gangbangers love them because they are easy to steal, tough, and haul lots of fentanyl/cocaine! I put a tracker on the 4th one stolen and DPS caught the bastard. I don't think he served any time though. Car theft isn't a big deal in AZ.

New ATF rules are kind of ambiguous but I think the buffer tube now has to be incapable of having a brace attached(ie a straight tube) for it not to be considered an SBR. Of course it probably all depends on the ATF agent.
