Two to three pounds would give me enough breathing room to outlast this crazy short supply situation.

The official “I didn’t get jack shoot” thread
azsugarbear replied to yotebuster's topic in Elk Hunting
Nothing on my CC either, but not a surprise. Applying for near top-tier hunts for both elk and antelope with only 7 and 14 points, respectively. Can't complain. I drew antelope Unit 10 back in 2005 with only 10 points. There has been a lot of point creep since 2005, but it was still a windfall to me. If more of you would just stop applying, I could realize my hunting dreams a little quicker. 🙂 -

Good people always want to assume the very best in others. Unfortunately, in today's society this kind of thinking/action is seldom rewarded. First off, you assume the text was from his mother, but it could be from anyone - including the family's attorney. Yes, she may only want some answers or closure, but given what you have already told us, you will be unable to provide that to her. On the other hand, she may want to know why you would sell a gun to him when he was obviously unstable (perhaps obvious to her but nobody else). You can't help her, but you can hurt yourself. Absolutely no direct contact. Assume the best, but always expect and plan for the worst. If she really wants to know something, she will find your address and send you a letter - at which time you should take it to legal counsel before doing anything else.

Need a partial box of the Barnes 129 gr. LRX to try in my rifle. Ned enough to try some load development. Know it's a long shot, but if you have some laying around - give me a call.

I think I have something worked out with Lance.

I've got a 'junior' size backpack he can have. Old style backpack with aluminum frame. Blue color, cargo hold size is more of day pack, but room on frame to hang sleeping bag, etc. It's a little dusty from sitting on the garage shelf for years, but it is yours, if you want it. Live near Tatum & Bell.

*Sold & Gone* - NIB Savage Axis II Combo in 6.5 Creedmoor
azsugarbear posted a topic in Classified Ads
Up for sale is a new Savage Axis II in 6.5 Creedmoor. Everything is in plastic and in the box exactly as it came from the manufacturer. Synthetic stock is camo pattern. The scope is a 3-9x40mm Weaver (a definite step up from the Tasco or Simmons you usually find on these combos). Selling because grandsons received the exact same rifle from Santa this past Christmas. Rifle, scope, bolt, magazine, lock and all paperwork included with the original box. Cash price is $300 firm. No trades needed at this time. First "I'll take it" on this CWT thread gets precedence over PM's or text messages based on time. If you have questions, you can PM here on CWT or text to 602-361-7191. -

Sorry, but I haven't heard that name before. Lots of builders out there - but let's keep our posts focused on Curtis25's flintlock for sale. Be happy to continue in PM. -
Just sold a rifle to jknister. Good communication, easy to deal with and zero problems with the sale. He is GTG.

Nope. I have no idea who made this rifle. And to the best of my knowledge, I have never met curtis25. I just know a little bit about custom muzzleloaders. Haven't seen this particular rifle, but if I were in the market for a custom, the price alone would make me want to have a closer look at it. Curtis25 could probably tell you more. -

Guys, I have been building custom flintlock rifles for over 20 years. They are works of art and feel 'right' when placed in your hands. They also have the ability to put some "romance" back into the hunt. There is just something about being afoot with a flintlock rifle and knowing you are pursuing game just as it was done 300 years ago. With today's prices, the pieces (stock, barrel, lock & other furniture) alone for such a rifle would cost $850 or so - depending on the type of wood chosen. I spend nearly 160 hours of handwork on each rifle - more if extra carving or inlays are specified by the buyer. If you want to see some custom rifles, take a look here: https://www.trackofthewolf.com/List/Item.aspx/487/1. Pay special attention to the prices. Curtis25, perhaps a picture or two would be worth a thousand words. -
I have a Savage B-Mag in the 17 WSM cartridge. It's like the 17 HMR, but much faster. Probably the hardest hitting rimfire out there. If that's something you want to consider, send me a PM and I will pull it out and try to answer any questions you have. Haven't shot it in several years, so I would need to refresh my memory.

The 300 PRC is just one more contender in an already crowded field of 300 mags. But then, isn't that the fun of hunting/shooting? Always trying new stuff to see if it is better suited to your wants and style of hunting? I believe the 300 Norma does not have a standard magnum case head dimension, but rather a larger case head very close to the 338 Lapua. This usually requires a slightly larger action, thereby increasing costs over a standard magnum action.

As the title says, looking to make contact with a youth or disabled hunter with a tag for the Unit 4A late Bull elk hunt.
-
Would be helpful to have model number so people can check the specs (such as max height, load capacity, collapsed length, etc.), as well as reviews on the model.
-
Can the head be separated from the tripod, or is it "all-in-one"?

Used first, the second gen of the BR2. Great rangefinder. Switched several years ago to the Sig. At the time, it had better beam divergence and algorithms for ballistics solutions. Most of this advantage was done away with the third gen G7. Biggest plus with the Sig is smaller size. I like to carry it next to my binos. Personal downside of Sig for me: doesn't lay flat like the G7 -less stabile when hand-held.

Well, looks like this will be my 27th year of donating. Looking at the odds, it will be another ten years before I have any statistical chance of getting drawn. Congrats to all that get drawn. I am sincerely happy for you.

Nosler Long Range Accubond for hunting???
azsugarbear replied to lionhunter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I love the regular accubonds. Always shot well for me. The LRAB has proven to be a little more finicky. My luck with them has run about 50/50. It's a great performing bullet - if you can get it to group consistently. Nosler has announce a new 150 gr. Accubond in the .277 caliber, but haven't found it in any stores (brick or virtual). I'm going to wait for them to come out. -
Buying or selling, a man's word is still his bond. Regardless of the times or how people think or the fact that it is the internet, it is still the measure of a man (or woman). I get that some people don't feel that way, but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to lower our standards and go along with the 'new norm'.
