Hey Lark, That sounds like a good gig, what are the qualifications to get y'er job? I am currently unemployed and still have a life-long goal of becoming a 5 time cy young award winning pitcher for the Diamondbacks, or any other team. But just in case, I need a backup plan. c-1

Congratulations on those fine bucks. They are dandies!!!!!! Secondly, and more importantly, congratulations for having the nerve to do what all proud, law-abiding, civic-minded, and UNSELFISH, Americans would do in that situation. Also, don't worry about your post. Those flaky, zero, drug dealers north of the border are a bunch of weenies!!!! You should be commended for your actions. You assisted the feds in a very professional fashion and you sacrificed a day of priceless hunting opportunity to do it. Good things come to good people............perhaps that's why you guys did so well. If only there were more people like you out there, the world would be a much better place. merry Christmas and God Bless, you are da' man! c-1

Amanda, hang in there, one of these days, probably tomorrow or the next, the estrus thing is gonna kick in and that 95 incher or a much bigger one will show up. Good luck and whack him! That country is absolutely beautiful.......thanks for the stories..........I'm enjoying living vicariously through you and scott's story telling. Merry Christmas c-1

Just hold behind the shoulder and kill him. If you have a range finder and know what your bullet is gonna do.....it's elementary. Of course, however, the whitetail factor can kick in and that's what makes it so exciting. c-1

Hey RHINO, Nice buck. Those big 2 pointers have a lot of character and are very hard to pass up. You'll never regret shooting that deer. Congratulations! c-1
-
Nice buck! 8 for 8! Those november hunts aint so bad after all, are they. All you gotta do is hunt! c-1

Unfortunately, we seem to be caught up too much in the "numbers" game. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. c-1

Megahunter, I agree with you, negative garbage doesn't belong on this web site. Especially all of the conspiracy theorists who rabidly attack the game department over the proposed big game changes for 2006/2007. When I read some of those posts I almost became ill. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!! We don't want to look like a bunch of whiners on this web site..........let's keep it as it is.......outstanding. C-1

fat foot doc, I couldn't agree with you more! Good post. People like to do that to make themselves feel better I guess. C-1

Megahunter, Too bad you had a bad experience. For starters there are always two sides to every story. Generally, the truth is about somewhere in the middle. It does nobody any good for you to complain about your experience in this forum. All it does is suck in those who have nothing good to say about the fish and game to share their miserable experiences and bring general hate and discontent to an outstanding website. Kudos to Redman, Runninbird, BChoitz etc for not taking the bait. There probably is a complaint process that the fish and game has and if it is a good one, the incident will be thoroughly and impartially investigated. Furthermore, your allegation of making threats will come to light in a proper conducted investigation. There is no law that I'm aware of that states a game warden can't operate a quad at any time of day. I'd even bet that they can go off road if it falls within the scope of their duties. Heck, look at all of the off-roading and road hunting that occurs that we continually hear about on this site. Finally, blaming your ruined hunt on the officer was a choice that you made. Being a victim is a waste of time and energy. C-1

Hey Rembrandt, I was out the other day and I saw a couse deer that looked normal except that the tail was purple with black and pink polka dots...........how do you explain that one????? I don't think it had anything to do with summer/winter pelage, only a conspiracy to express its' individuality?. Perhaps a "nexter generation" deer?? Can there be a biological explanation? C-1

Casey, Sometimes things don't go the way we plan/hope. If you've hunted long enough, eventually you'll encounter a situation that won't be a perfect kill whether it's your tag or a friends. Anyone who thinks that things never go bad are living in a dream world. It takes real man to be able to be honest and learn from a situation. I'm sure you learned from your situation and next time will be even more decisive. You did, in fact, make the right decision and don't you let anyone try to make you think you didn't. If you want to second guess yourself, stop it!!! Now, compare your hunt to the hunt of a bragger I bumped into last year at a party. Here's the scenario, this very loud young man was bragging about shooting his Sendero at a range of 1100 yards at a group of large whitetail bucks. (Yes, the number is correct.....1100 yards) His buddy was calling in the artillery hits as his first shots were very low........imagine that! Of course, he never got the deer. Compare that behavior with your own.......yup, you're right, there's no comparison! What you did was responsible and something to be proud of. What he did was inexcusable. You demonstrated integrity and decisiveness and that is much needed with all of our hunters. Good job and congratulations. C-1

Sounds to me like the Department is going out of their way to let the public know that the animals may not be there now and are even going to make the effort to do another survey too, to provide their customers (you complainers) another update. Additionally, last time I checked, animals such as elk and buffalo tend to move around. And finally, these are "limited population" opportunities. That means purchasing a tag is a gamble. I'll bet the folks that purchased a tag did it on their own free will, don't you???? If you really think that the Game Deartment didn't give a crap and only wanted your money, why would they spend valuable time and resources to give the sportsmen the latest information? Come on! There's bigger issues out there. c-1

Stanley, AzGuide et.al. .......... You are correct. You gotta make the effort and get the kids interest and then keep them engaged! There's too many lazy, couch potato parents who would rather fill their kids' time with X-box and a couch! Stanley, your enthusiasm was very evident at the 23 jr's camp. Keep up the good work and continue to be an insiration to your kid and the future. You are quite an ambassador and example for our kids and sportsmen in general. Thanks, c-1

Got some bad new for you........politics makes the world go round......even on a coues whitetail site. I choose to embrace the opportunities and cool information that this site provides, even if some of it is poliltical. c-1

There are too many hunts as it is.......unless you want to hunt elk in the spring or summer. c-1

I wonder if Amanda is going to the Roosevelt Jr. Camp? Amanda? How about it? c-1
-
The camp is slated for indian point campground at roosevelt. Those are a lot of fun and there usually are a bunch of deer association folks, and game and fish folks. You should stop by. c-1

That's a good find. I'm sure the lion was a deer kill,......you know they'll eat about one lion a week. If I did the math correctly, within a year or so all lions will be wiped out! Maybe the 3X3 you saw was the culprit that killed the lion. They're everywhere!!!!!!! Purchase a deer tag for your next lion hunt cause you never know when you're gonna see a lion killing deer. c-1

Arizona laws regarding scouting with airplanes
Couesi1 replied to Huntinfool's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
All, These rules were implemented a few years ago after a rash of complaints due to some very unethical behavior by a few folks (primarily using aircraft to locate elk and deer during and just before hunts). Now the state officers have an option to go after these "sportsmen" without using the feds assistance, although they still can and do work with the feds in some cases. It depends on the situation. It doesn't matter if you say you saw some elk and were just going in for a look. If it occurs during the restricted time period, any or all on board can be cited. If you haven't already done so, whether it was a violation or not, I would report the aircraft information to the Az. Game and Fish. It only takes a minute to call in the information to 1-800-352-0700. This information may be useful if it's reported but is useless intelligence if it's not. c-1 -
Trail Cam Photos
Couesi1 replied to BowhuntCoues's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
How big is the one you killed? c-1 -
I'll say two things.....either one, or both certainly can apply in this case. 1. What goes around comes around. 2. You better be careful what you ask for. In closing, sometimes there is justice in the world. We should all be thankful for an instance like this. C-1

AZ4LIfe, that peachville burn you alluded to is gonna be a real good deal for whitetail habitat. It burned a whole lot of chapparal country and in some areas burned in patches or a mosaic pattern. The areas that burned super hot and look black will eventually improve too, probably sooner than one would think. The Armer Mtn burn (Unit 23) occurred in the Summer of 1994, and the deer were all over it right away. You may be right, and folks may avoid the area. If that's the case, is cause they aren't aware of the overwhelming benefits that a chapparal burn offers a piece of country and the whitetails that live in it. Hope you find a good one. C-1

Ernesto, Let me tell you brother, you and that Rembrandt dude are my favorite members on this site. Anyone who is willing to step out there and say what a difference that Jesus makes/made in their life is bigger than ANY man I've ever met. And even better, even doing a little thing like blessing someone you never met and/or don't know is having an impact on many people, especially the non-believers. You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work. You guys are spiritual GIANTS......and wouldn't the world be a much better place if we had more folks like you. C-1
