Southwest Wildlife made Outdoor Life's "Best Top 20 mounts at SCI
swwildlife posted a topic in Southwest Wildlife Taxidermy
Some of you may not be aware that we are an exhibitor at the SCI show each year in Reno NV. We have always brought a trailer full of mounts. We bring mounts to fill the booth and SCI management has asked us to provide isle pieces as well. Most of these pieces are clients mounts. There are traditionally 100's of top quality mounts from taxidermist from around the country and abroad. This year 2 of our clients mounts made the Outdoor Life's top 20 mounts of the show list. Go to http://www.outdoorlife.com/photos/gallery/hunting/big-game/elk/2013/01/20-best-taxidermy-photos-safari-club-international-conve and click on "Best SCI Mounts" to see. our mounts were a Lion #10 and a Bongo #16. The pictures are not the best so I have included picture of the mounts below. Thanks you for all that have allowed us to borrow your prized mounts for display at the various shows that we do. -
These big boys are always fun to work on. However I'm glad we don't do as many of these as we do Elk or Deer.

Here are a couple coues for 2 brothers that have been customers of mine for years.

Devin is right, the bottom line is you will pay far more to have it mounted and shipped to you from canada. a lot of hunters fall for the line, "leave your trophies here, we know the animals" that is just a sales pitch. if you have a competent taxidermist they will do a better job and you have recourse if something goes wrong or unexpected. Since this is your fathers dream hunt do it he way YOU and YOUR DAD want. dont let anyone talk you into something you dont feel completely comfortable with.

To show our appreciation to the CouesWhitetail membership for your support, Southwest Wildlife is giving away a free Mule Deer or Coues Deer or Antelope shoulder mount this year. This is for members only. If you bring in either a Coues, Muley or Antelope shoulder mount, your name goes in the hat for a drawing at the end of the 2013-14 hunting season. We will hold the drawing on February 15, 2014. Make sure when you drop off your animal that you let us know you are a CouesWhitetail member! Good Luck to everyone! Wall shoulder, wall pedestal, full pedestal included; bases and habitat not included

We have donated 2 lifesize javelina to SCI National. Thes will be on the silent auction in Las Vegas this next week. if you can make it to the show , it is a fabulous show.

Hey Bill, no offense taken, I did know that about the DC chapter, I always thought that was why they changed the name, because the majority of the exhibitors at the convention and the public had started calling the convention "SCI National" I didn't mean to mis-state where the mounts were going. Any way the show was a great success, this year was one of the best we have had in the 11 years we have been exhibiting. For those that haven't gone you need to plan to go next year.

This one was just complete for a client who's wife helped pick the pose and habitat. I love it when the whole family is involved

You may have already found someone but I have always used Lori Ginn of Travel Express (406) 363-0883, 800-808-4868 she will take care of everything including stay overs, etc. the last time we went, during our stay, one of our return flights were canceled and moved up by 6 hours. she called the outfitter to get in touch with me to tell me of the change. I didn't expect that.

AGFD news OHV users may comment on Tonto National Forest proposal
swwildlife replied to AGFD News's topic in News from Arizona Game and Fish Dept.
did you notice that they can't even describe in lay terms where this is, I'll bet its because they don't want you to know, they just want to close it up. they think this will restore the desert, but the off roaders will find another area to do the same with. then we have TWO areas that are destroyed. we need to give the off roaders more areas for them to have fun and contain the destruction. -
That is so cool, I love seeing all the anomalies that nature has to offer. I would definatally do a full body mount if you can swing it. You are not going to see that very often. Congratulations, what a challenge to go for one specific animal.

Here is one we just finished up. this concept has been used on Coue deer, Springbuck and Impala

Yes it is Tommy s. I haven't even called him yet. I plan on calling him tomorrow.

Calling Game and Fish will accomplish nothing. They are the licensing agency that will grant them a license on the grounds of payment of the fees, and if he has reported what the law says he needs to report. they don't care what kind of a businessman he is. Back in 1990-1996 when I was the President of the Arizona Taxidermy Association, the G&F would get calls from disgruntled customers and send them to me, cause they didn't and couldn't do anything so they thought that the Association could do something, but most of the time the taxidermist wasn't a member anyway. I feel for all of you who have lost trophies or who are in the process of losing trophies. This is never good for the profession I hold dear to my heart.
