Any sucess in 24A this weekend?
QCwtAddict replied to AxisWorks LLC's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
That buck looks familiar. Was that you and your buddy's that stopped by our camp on your way out with that buck Friday night? Me and my brother were cutting up my brothers small 2 point at the time. -

We saw 44 does Friday and Saturday and only one buck. -
Sportsmans had several boxes of winchester brand 270wsm ammo in 130 grain yesterday. It was the mesa store.

I'm not really sure, but I'd guess close to 60 lbs.

After four days of hunting I had this buck in my crosshairs on Tuesday morning and I missed him at 550 yards. I was really disappointed because this was the only buck we had seen up to that day and I blew it. To my amazement the next morning we spotted him in the same exact spot where I missed him the day before. So me and my brother moved into position and since I missed him the day before I let my brother take the first shot. After my brother missed him he ran down the hill a little bit closer to us and stopped. I rushed my first shot by trying to get a quick rest off of my tripod but was too shaky and missed. After that I found an open spot where I could lay down and shoot off my bipod and I dropped him at about 500 yards. He may not be a giant 100+ buck but he is my first buck larger than a spike and I am extremely happy with this buck.

This is the only other angle that I have, it doesn't show the non-typical point that well.

Are the vipers the hd model?

I like the Scott little goose. They are reliable, I used the same one for 8 years and now my girlfriend who just started shooting is using that one and I got a brand new one. I think they are available in both the Velcro and buckle strap.

maybe a bug real close to the cam? Or maybe its one of them aliens that I heard has been abducting CWT members

I love my Nomad. Of course its nothing close to the much more expensive spotting scopes out there, but i think it was worth every penny. In my opinion it is by far the best in its price range.

I’m considering buying my girlfriend a Diamond Razor Edge and I’m curious if anyone on here has had any experience with them. Would it be a good starter bow? Are they really as good as the hype I’ve been hearing? Have you had any problems with them? I’ve never been real fan of Bowtech/Diamond so I’m a little leery about buying one.

She already shot it at sportsmans warehouse. She wants to shoot some more bows before she makes a choice but she is leaning towards the diamond.

Whats the draw weight and draw length?

My brother shot an elk with a rage and it didn't make it ten yards before dropping. I've never seen so much blood sprayed everywhere. Shot placement is everything. But as far as shooting through mesh, I wouldn't try it with them.

Sitgreaves NF appears to be open near 260
QCwtAddict replied to Airbusdriver's topic in The Campfire
It doesn't say anything on the ASNF website about it being reopened -
The best is the one that you are most comfortable with and can make the most realistic sounds with. You're best bet is to buy a few different bugles and play around with them until you find the one that you like best. My personal favorite is the Primos Terminator because of the ease of use and I can make a wider range of elk sounds with it than I can with other bugles.

Banning baiting would just be one step closer to banning hunting altogether

Me and my brother both got Garmin Rino 530 HCx gps/radios from our parents. Cant wait to use them cuz they are way cool. And i got enough gift cards to sportsmans warehouse to pay for half of my new Vortex Nomad spotting scope, cant wait to try it out either. It was a good Christmas!

They're in there just keep looking. Its supposed to rain Wednesday and Thursday so you should be able to pick up fresh sign pretty easily. If nothing else this should be a good opportunity to teach your son how to scout and find animals in a new unit. He'll definitely benefit from the experience.

I am thinking about buying a Vortex Nomad spotting scope, but I haven't really heard much about them. If any of you guys on here have tried them I would like to hear what you think about them. How do they compare to other spotting scopes in their price range?

Vortex Nomad Spotting scope question?
QCwtAddict replied to QCwtAddict's topic in Optics and tripods
I went and picked one up today. I looked through it and a Nikon that was close to the same price and I thought the vortex was much nicer. I looked through it a little when i got home, I'll have to take it hunting soon to see how it will be in the field but I am very happy with it for the price so far. -
Vortex Nomad Spotting scope question?
QCwtAddict replied to QCwtAddict's topic in Optics and tripods
I know the 80mm objective lens of the skyline would make it clearer but it just seems like it makes the spotting scope too big and would take up too much room in my pack. Thats why i am looking at the nomad. -
I've always had good luck with the primos terminator bugle and the woodwise hyper hot cow call. Diaphram calls are great and the most realistic if you can learn how to use them. Make sure to practice plenty on all the calls to make sure that you can make them sound realistic. Also learning when to and how often to call is just as important as learning how to sound like an elk.

congrats on gettin the job done on a great first buck!
