If anyone here is lacking for company feel free to pm me. I live around 75th ave and the Deer Valley rd. I don't have a very many friends that hunt and less that bow hunt. Good luck everyone and enjoy the cooler temps!

Chased my Bull Moose not fun...they just want to gore you with antlers and grind you into the mud..Had about 5 yotes in Prescott come into camp one night while I was with my wife they wouldn't leave us alone so I chased one off with a stick screamn my head off. Didn't work they regrouped and came back into camp getting really really close. My wife was screaming and scared so we jumped in the truck and went to start it up wouldn't turn over. I had to get out and reconnect the loose battery cable in the dark while listening to them run around me yelping. Once I got the truck going my wife wouldn't leave it so we slept in it all night. In the morning none of the food was touched except all the peanut butter cookies her mom made us were gone. It was a very strange evening I've never seen a yote or pack of yotes that aggressive towards humans usually when I see them they are running from me. The next day we got caught by a game and fish dept messn around in the back of the truck so I was to embarrassed to strike up a conversation with him about the night we had:-) -
I use a doe in heat I keep in my back yard she only has three legs and a long leash works great! Good luck with baiting ur deer

I brought my Dad to the Museum last year good thing I did. R.I.P. Arizona Mining & Mineral Museum On Saturday, April 30, 2011, the Arizona Historical Society fired the staff and closed the Arizona Mining & Mineral Museum. In addition, all the locks to the building were changed, and access to retrieve specimens and other artifacts on loan to the museum is now restricted by appointment only. This action is a clear and blatant violation of the following provisions of Arizona Statute 41-827: A. The Arizona Historical Society (AHS) shall operate and maintain the centennial museum that houses the mining and mineral museum for the following purposes and with the following authority: 2. To maintain the mining and mineral museum as the state depository for collecting, cataloging and displaying mining artifacts and various specimens of ores, gemstones, lapidary material and other valuable mineral specimens. The abrupt, unannounced closure breaks the plan of record promise by AHS director, Anne Woosley, that the museum shall remain open until June 1st, the end of the current school year. Subsequently, hundreds of students will be denied the opportunity to experience the musem and learn about the importance of mining and minerals in Arizona.

The last three years I've been looking down more while hunting and finding interesting things crystals, rocks with mineral deposits in them the list goes on and on. I have found several really nice rocks and had someone tell me they were agates with chalcedony usually these are only about 1-3 inches in size but I happen to find some much larger rough ones on a little hiking trip I took this weekend. I wanted to post some pictures and see if anyone on the site enjoys doing the same thing I have just scratched the surface of. I was also wondering what if anyone on here does with these things...any info would be great. Hope you don't mind a rock picture I know they aren't deer but once you find a few of these things its addictive. Well hope everyone enjoyed the cooler weather we've had the last five days:-)

6A great place but I always come out with more beer cans and bottles then I brought in myself...only thing I leave is Toilet paper sorry campers I'm not packn that out.. Found one place very close to Rocky Park rd that looked as though Kids were partying it up on weekends it was a total mess. If you haven't noticed there is a huge lack of respect by some when it comes to tossn trash where ever they want..from Phoenix to Flagstaff on the side of I-17 is one big dump!

WOW..Makes me sick to think people in our community have to stoop so low. I'm not one to resort to violence but I swear if you found them and beat the stink out of them..I would help you out. Where do you live in Peoria just wondering cause I live around 75th ave/ DeerValley rd might need to keep an eye out. I have a neighbor that Yard sales every weekend I'll let her know about the bows and if she sees something I'll have her take a picture and text me with it. I hope you find some justice in the end. I'm puttn a security door on soon! Good Luck ELK77

Give this article a try and see if it helps you. It helped me out a bit but you need to practice taking shots at different ranges and then practice, practice, practice some more. This is simple works pretty good from my experience. Good luck hunting:-) http://www.deerhuntersclub.com/tips/long-range-shooting/distance-of-long-range-shots/ My link

Best of luck in 6a I hunted last year by Rattlesnake passed up on a spike and fork horn the first day from about 30yrds away. Then ate tag soup after that. Had some crazy dude run/walking the entire canyon bottom not sure what they were trying to do other then scare everything in the area out. Hope you don't run into those guys like I did. Good luck!!

Need a wet saw to cut em open and see if they have some good banding..wish I was in the masonry business still. I wonder if homedepot or lowes will make a cut for me..lol That would be a first for them I'm sure if I asked em. Does anyone have tool recommendations to get these open and see if they are Agates or know of anyone in the Peoria, Glendale area that might do it for a modest fee? I looked everywhere and I'm stumped on tryn to find a local person

Simple mistake I won't make again...I ate really spicy peppers the night before a hunt. Three pit stops later on the way to my blind this August had me set back about 1hr late. I got about 70 yards from my blind and I'm staring at a really nice buck standing 15ft from the blind...grrrr I was cursing those hot peppers. MISTAKE that won't happen again guess I'm a gringo for sure

If I ever make it out that way I will stop in...I probably have a big bag o nothing as well I'm bringing it to a lapidary club as soon as I can..I'll let ya all know what becomes of these things...thanks for the input:-)

Hope you get one Jo. Like I said it's not my hunt but I will be with him Canyons and water iv'e also heard are big on the check list. I'm guessing Deer hunting tactics will work just fine on Elk in Nov. It will be fun either way! Nothing like sleeping under a pine tree in 20 degree weather:-)

Friend of mine got drawn this year 3A/3C and I'm headed up with him for the first few days of the hunt. He has gotten some info from a Family member which will be great but for my own knowledge base I was curious if anyone had some good tips for that late season. Are they beat up and hiding in thick stuff..canyons those type of questions or any info would be great. I'm not an Elk hunter and have the slightest idea how to even approach an Elk hunt..Guess that's why I'm asking and not the tag holder. Any info would be great I've read the AZGF web for general info but Nov seems like it would be a different type of hunt. Thanks for any pointers...

About that water question I'm not a pro but with my experience in the last three days, I was in an area where it had rained as well and people were sitting water and talking with me about it. I saw 6 bucks in three days all stalking till I finally put a blind on a really nice trail and a good buck beat me to my blind this morning I watched him as I walk into it about .3 miles off a tank..long story but I'll blame it on the Hatch Chiles my buddy made me eat with dinner. Lots of puddles with tracks on them. I didn't talk with anyone in my area that had luck seeing deer on tanks but I was hunting in the woods and saw 6 just my experience. Couldn't get any of them with in 40 yrds though but better than not seeing anything. Good luck and get in the woods
