So 115 bergers would be the go to round for keeping pelts Yep. Here is the last coyote I shot with the Berger. He held up on the edge of the brush line facing me at about 75 yards and I put one right in his chest. Never got an exit on this one.

Ive been using a standard 250-3000 for years as my go to yote gun and it works like a champ. 75gr vmax at 3500fps does a number on them. The 115gr Berger at 2800 also does real well and actually does less damage. Just leaves a nice one inch hole on the off side.

The Calvin Elite is very nice. I also really like the Rifle Basix which is a bit cheaper and they have quite a few options and pound weights to choose from for a 700 to fit your given application.

I am interested in the Lee auto prime tool if you decide to separate.

Lapping ensures that the scope rings have even pressure applied across the ring when tightened down. Depending on the mount set up and the rings used there can be quite a bit of binding that occurs on the scope which is never a good thing. Also, there are times when mount holes are not drilled inline and can also cause a binding issue. Lapping fixes these issues by removing material from the high spots or the spots that would cause the bind. Lapping is a step like bedding that never hurts but may not always be necessary. The easy way to fix these possible issues with scope mounting is using a set of Burris signature zee rings. They come with plastic inserts that not only protect your scope from scope marks but allows the scope to align perfectly centered without any binding and apply even pressure across the rings. They also come with different size inserts to apply cant to your scope like a 20 moa rail all while keeping the scope perfectly inline. Best rings made in my opinion and you never need to worry about lapping or ring marks on your high value optics.

7mm Rem Mag Memorial Build

Heck with those Hornadys. I would stick with the Bergers with them shooting that well. -
She's about the luckiest kid I have ever met. Good luck on the hunt.

I have done quite a bit of testing with different kinds of 22 ammo in several different rifles and you will be surprised at the difference a simple ammo change can make. You will also be surprised to find one particular rifle to hate a certain kind of ammo and another love it. Take CCI quiet for example. My 10/22 with a Green Mountain match barrel shoots 2" groups at 50 yards with that stuff. My wife's 10/22 with a Green Mountain match barrel will shoot them under an inch. Hard to explain that one. Hers will shoot bug hole groups with Norma Match and mine prefers the Wolf Match. Both rifles shoot extremely well in general but they definitely have their favorites.

A high BC 130 pushed a bit faster in a Creedmoor vs the 140 a little slower in the Creedmoor gives very similar performance. You give up a little wind drift and energy but not a lot. There is a reason those PRS guys love the 130s in the Creed.

With a c.o.a.l. over 2.800" this will still work better in a long action. It's like the 284 win, yeah it will work in a short action but it works best in a long one.

I have yet to see the 143s shoot well out of anything I have tried them in. The 140s however, have proven to be very accurate and easy to tune.

Looking for a good gunsmith!!!! For my 300 win mag

Half inch groups at 300 yards and you are not happy? Doens't sound like there is anything wrong with the rifle to me. -
Got my 2nd choice. Early rifle bull unit 3a 3c. First tag ever! Took me 10 years to draw.

Cabelas card showed a hit for me or the wife today as well.

Leupold VX2 6-18x40. Light weight, repeatable and with good glass will get her to 600 and them some pretty easy. -
.308 Secret Sauce??? (Loading Question)
STOMP442 replied to Stallone A.'s topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have always had much better results with 4064 than varget in .308. -
Price?

Surprisingly enough H-1000 works really well with the 105 class bullets. 46.0 grains seems to be the magic number that has worked for me in a couple different .243's
-
1:9 you should be able to run a 100gr and even the 105 Amax just fine.
-
That rifle probably has a 10 twist barrel but possibly even slower. Like mentioned above, twist will dictate what bullet you will be able to run. For 400 yards the Sierra 100gr Game King is tough to beat. If that one don't shoot well you may need to step down to the 85gr weight class. The 87gr Berger would be a good choice.

Unless you are ordering a custom spec reamer bullets.Com or grizzly.com generally have the ptg reamer and gauges in stock ready to ship and a little cheaper. I have had nothing but great luck and service from ptg.

6.5 (Creedmore - x284 - x06 - x55) Reloading Considerations
STOMP442 replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Barrels need to be looked at similarly to tires on your pickup. They wear out and get replaced, it's just one of those expenses you plan for. That being said the average barrel life is only a matter of seconds regardless of what caliber you choose. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2017/02/a-few-seconds-at-best-the-short-operating-life-of-barrels/ -
6.5-06 AI or .280 AI? What would YOU build?
STOMP442 replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Yeah, it would be nice to have a heavier bullet for sure but I have yet to see anything live through the 115. -
6.5 (Creedmore - x284 - x06 - x55) Reloading Considerations
STOMP442 replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Not nearly as easy to find but you can find it if you look and the match stuff will cost you. Probably not going to find it at the run of the mill mom and pop shop if you forgot your ammo on a hunt somewhere. Reloading wise Lapua makes brass for it as well as Norma and Nosler but you can always neck up or down any .308 based cartridge and go from there. The huge success of the Creedmoor is due in large part that there are many factory loadings available in a number of different bullet weights as well as a few match quality loadings at very reasonable prices. The 6.5 Creed has gotten the aftermarket support the .260 deserved but didn't get back in the 90's
