I've noticed that on a couple of my scopes a weird thing has happened. I get them and their great, when I look into them past where I have a full field of vision, I only get a narrower sight picture. But after zooming in and out for a few weeks, when I look into them I can see part of their internal structure where I couldnt before. I have a Vortex and can see four holes on a small protruding piece of metal, with three screws in the hole and one without. When I back out I can;t see this, but I look into it JUST past where I have a full field of view and I can. With my Sun Optics, the same has happened. I look into it and see a ring of metal with two indentations and I know its part of the scope's build, but I couldn't see it before. I've never seen this on other scopes. My question is this: Is it a problem? Is the scope broken? Does this just happen to scopes built recently? Has anybody else had this problem? If its not a bad sign, then why/what is it? Why are there three screws between four holse in my vortex? Is it defective? When I shake it nothing rattles around. My guess is since this happened to two scopes its no big deal, but I want to be sure.

Well, I have a Savage Model 10 .308 and I love everything about it but the stock. So Im in the market for a nice replacement stock, preferably wood or laminate. I would appreciate recommendations for a nice quality stock around $200 or less. I want a thumbhole, too. I like the look and features if the Ross Featherweight thumbholes, are they any good? I also like the looks of a Boyds JRS thumbhole laminate though it's heavier. Opinions and ideas would be mice. Also, if I do buy one of these stocks, can I keep the barrel free floating?

Well, I'll share another. On my recent coues hunt, I got a case if buck fever so bad I missed a 120 class buck at shooting late opening morning. Granted a 200 yard running shot isn't easy, but it still hurts. I shot in front of him a good foot, and he reversed directions pretty fast so I shot again but actually hit one if his tines, his g2 I believe. I know this because my buddy shot him a couple days later, same buck, same area. Anyway, U still got a nice, big buddies 3x3 fir the freezer.

Well, my unit 32 11/5 to 11/11 ( I think that's the end date, too lazy to check is fast approaching, and I'm chomping at the bit to get hunting. While not my first choice, thus still is a nice hunt. I'm hoping to put some venison in the freezer as I just ran out of last years elk meat. I was wondering if anybody else had thus tag. What area are you going to? What is your strategy? Im planning on hunting my honeyhole on the east side of the galiuros. I like to wake up early and walk to a high point. Then glass all day ling, maybe do a little walking if the action us slow. Just thought Id ask if anybody else had the hunt.

Hey all. I'm a big savage fan and noticed a model 10 fxp at walmart for $384 dollars. I was wondering if anyone has one ? What groups does it get? I have a 111fxp3 and it easily shoots under an Moa with factory ammo and considerably less with handlaoads. So, how is this gun? It has an accutrigger, is free floated, synthetic, and gas q nice jeweled bolt.

I have a ruger M77 Hawkeye Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation 30-06 Special Edition (1 of 500, gold embossed floorplate). It is in near-perfect state (about 40 rounds fired, couple very small blemishes on stock). It is a shooter, with 1" or less capabilities @ 100 yards. Here are the specs: 7.5 lbs, 22" barrel, walnut stock, red recoil pad( works great), for more plus a pic go to: http://www.ruger.com/products/m77HawkeyeStandard/models.html please note, only standard model info is shown ( special edition has, once again, floorplate with a bull elk and rmef logo embossed in gold and a limited production, but is the same as the standard besides that). I'm asking $600 this gun retails for 300-400 more than that when new. Also, I'm willing to sell gun as a package with it's scope, a vortex diamondback 4-12x40 with ballisti plex reticle. Scope isbrand new, no blemishes of any sort, only been on this rifle, and retails for $200+ tax. Combo I'm asking $750 OBO. Please feel free to PM me with offers or questions, though I ask for NO LOWBALL OFFERS, THEY WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. Thanks to everybody for making this such a great forum. Please excuse typographical errors, writing on an iPod touch isn't easy.

how do you like that Minox 3-15x42 BA riflescope Sorry I haven't gotten back to you I didn't see your post. I love my minox riflescope . It is AS clear as my Nikon Monarch Gold, which cost s lot more. It is a perfect long range scope, and rivals any swarovskis I have used at a third the price. -
Not sure about the shell, but desert tortoises are considered a property if the state and you can't technically own one. Having one means you're viewed as a keeper and caretaker of the states property. Taking them from the wild is EXTREMELY illegal, so no posts about tortoise stew if you're smart I aguired some from adoption via the desert museum awhile back, and they are breeding. Hard to take care if critters, too. They have nutritional needs, iceberg lettuce doesn't cut it. They're very slow growing animals.

I recently ordered a Sun Optics 3-15x42 power scope with parrakax adjustment. The magnification and a few other features made me do it, plus a favorable review. Does anybody have this scope? Does anyone know how good it is? I figure if it's not great it could be an air rifle scope fir backyard shooting. Any info. Would be great. Here's the link to the scope.

I am looking at finding a new unit to hunt. Old one is getting to hard to hunt too many houses. I am thinking of going up around hanagan' s meadow. I have seen a good volume of bears there and it has largest female limit. I'd like advice on which units and areas you've had success in. I'm thinking of an October hunt with a combo of grouse hunting. Areas, ideas, info, stories, advice? Thanks all in advance!

I don't mean to put anyone down, but some if those comments were pretty self- righteous. If the hunt is enjoyable, legal, and the kill was clean, and you are happy, then what else is there? The female harvest limits are low. There is a good population. I will say this much: ethics us being responsible to yourself, others, and tour surroundings, including animals and others. Each person has room for interpretation. In kidso's words, font impose what you THINK on others. Opinions are one thing. Insults are another. Consider this: you tale a fully grown bull elk for meat. It is not old, but you are not a trophy hunter. You share your great hunt with others. But you are put down fir not taking a bull who is old and mature. I know what you will say. This is a male, not a female animal. But if it has a life, and can breed, does it matter? My point is this. What makes a hunt us your enjoyment of it, and how you put to use the life if the animal you killed. If it means a lot to you, then the hunt is a successful. I have seen too many forums, good ones , polluted withhateful comments and speech. Don't let that happen to this one. Say positive things, or give insight, not insults. Forgive the nostalgia, but forums are places for hu ters to come together, not tear each other apart. It is a cliche of an addage but if you don't have something nice to say don't say it at all. It applies to all of us. That sums it up.

I. Went fishing on the rim camped off of young road. Heard a couple bugles in the morning sixish. Little early but the rut could be starting up there. Wish I had a tag! Anybody else heard some? A budy of mine affirmed that he had heard the bugle too. Later on in the trip I bugles with my mouth and got a vague response.

Its alright to shoot jack rabbits with a bow. Arizona is pretty unrestrictive with weapon choice for small game. B. An individual may use the following methods to take small game, subject to the restrictions in R12-4-318. 1. To take cottontail rabbits and tree squirrels: a. Firearms not prohibited in R12-4-303, b. Bow and arrow, c. Crossbow, d. Pneumatic weapons, e. Slingshots, and f. Falconry. REFER TO R12-4-216, R12-4-303, R12-4-304 and R12-4-318 OR READ APPROPRIATE COMMISSION ORDER FOR DETAILS. + 1 on all that. Ordered a pair of 12.5 x 42 furys and they had the best price on the Internet. Shipping was pretty quick for being free, and when the Bino harness didn't come with the Binos they took my word for it and sent out a pair. Great priced, great service, great products, great guys

This would be a bad concept during an elk hunt. I've heard great and bad calls from both. The biggest bull to date, his call was really sad. True, bull elk make all different kinds of bugles and some sound better than others. But calls from tubes have a distinct human made edge to them, almost impossible to distinguish, but get enough experience and it's not too hard.
