Looking for a New Scope, need help?
couesobsession replied to robertramsey61's topic in Optics and tripods
At the Sportsman's warehouse in Tucson last week I saw a Vortex Viper 4-12x40 SF for only $250. Add tax an its around $278 out the door. A phenomenal price on a scope normally at LEAST $300 and usually $400+. If you didn't need the power I'd look at the Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40 for around $225 shipped. As good as the viper, but not great eye relief. The Bushnell Elite 4200 and 3200's are being phased out for one conglomerated "Elite" line so sales are going strong. The Bushnell Elite 3200 4-12x40 AO can also be had for two and a quarter at various places. You loose a bit of LT, but it's still bright and will stand up to .375 H&H recoil. -
They did make geaorge seem like a real jerk but in the end he showed them up a bit. I personally was rooting for chris all the way because of his attitude and being an outdoorsman from his youth like I am. I really like the challenges but did anyone else cringe when they didn't secure the glock to the guy's wrists in the free-fall shooting thing? imagine what would have happened if one guy dropped it accidentally from 100+ feet. Glocks are tough and safe but anything could have happened. During seasopn one I rooted for Kelly but Ian seems like a real straight shooter (no pun intended )

Got a new rig together a Weatherby Vanguard 30-06 w/tan and black spiderweb stock shooting 165 grain barnes TTSX bullets 3/4"@ 100 yards. -
I am in the market for a good quality scope at an afforrdable price for a 30-06. So if you have a scope you'd like to sell for around or under $200 that is fairly good wuality or better and will stand up to 30-06 recoil send me a PM.

Someone should really buy those binos they are great quality and the price he is asking is very good.

Well guys, I found myself at a local walmart and they had the unthinkable- a Weatherby Vanguard 30-06 with a Bell and Carlson tan with black spiderweb stock for $350. The gun is blued. Needless to say, I bought it on the spot. $386 out the door. Factory target with 150 grain sp for 3 shots measures 1.02 edge to edge, two bullets in the same hole. It is a floorplate model, and looks like it has a 24" barrel. Now this leaves giddy but curious. Thee tan and blk spiderweb stock lists for $180 at midway, it's not a cheap stock. This gun seems VERY well made and that's why the price astonished me. Had a marked down price from $459 but the gun arrived at walmart in 2007 and it never made it ti the showcase until now. It isn't the sub-Moa midel, and no other vanguards have this stock, especially at that price. I know that the vanguard once was only available at walmart, so that leaves me wondering, is this a model made just for walmart? Anyway, it's a good looking and should be good shooting and was at a great price. I'm happy.

Last week in MARCH! My god im going to have a heart attack and will have no fingernails left worrying wheteher I drew or not for that long! Im goingn to have to go quail huntiong just to survive!

I'm hoping I getdrawn for my elk hunt, and if I do, I'll need a good .308 elk ammo. Has anybody shot elk with this cartidge? What factory ammo would be best? Is the federal trophy bonded tip 165 grain high energy made for elk? The solid copper shank should do allrifht, and the exspabsiob good. 2880 fps is quick. My other choices are Remington sciruoxcos hornady gmx and others like them (barnes tsx looks good) ideas?
-
Was that barnes a triple shock x, tiopped triple shock x, mrx, or other?
-
yep its a good ole .308 Winchester. The reason I ask is I want maximum range out of my .308. Those core lokts will work, but I want to extend the range I can ethically shoot. A bullet with enough retained energy penetration and exspansion abilities out to 400 yards, no more, is what Im interested in. o make it clear I would never shoot an elk over 300 yards If I could get closer in any way shape or form. I wouldnt kill an elk past 400 yards with a .308 win. I also want to say that this is a very accurate gun im proficient with, I stick within my limit.

I have a Sig Sauer P220 in double action/ single action for $450 Post and dot contrast drift adjustable sights] Smooth and Accurate Quality Pistol Its condition is good, as it functions flawlessly. It is very accurate and has low recoil. It does have a couple small nicks on frame, and slide is loosing some finishing, but it comes with several extras. 4 Mags- 3 8 rounders and 1 7 rounder Holster- Uncle Mikes Belt Holster Hogue rubber grips, already installed 2 Mag carry pouch 2 extra guide rods 2 extra recoil springs The guns mag release is behind the trigger gaurd, as it is not the older version I will sell this gun for $500, but am interested in gun trades, let me know what you have. PM me with questions/offers.

Well its near time to put in for elk again so I need help on deciding which hunt to put in for. As always, my first choice will be an october bull elk hunt for unit 27 (Fat chance of drawing that one). But my second choice will be a meat hunt. Im thinking a early december cow elk hunt in the unit (gosh I forgot the number) that incvluide lake mary and kinnick kinnick latke east of flagstaff. Lots of permits, good drawing odds and success rate. But it will be cold, and I be unable to hunt due to unpassable roads. I want advice on what hunt to put in for for high sucess rates and drawing odds for a meat hunt. (Cow or bull, doesnt matter.)
-
That's not many tags, the unit I was looking at had 700 cow tags

Im in the market for a nice scope to put on a .22 rimfire. If you have a nice quality AO SCope with magnification of AT LEAST 3-9 POWER and preferrably more that you are willing to sell, then shoot me a PM and well see what we can do. I especiall like Vortex scopes, and am interested in a Viper4-12 or 6-24 AO.

I consider myself a serious hunter, and 80% of the time if I dont come home with an animal, its because I wasnt comfortable in taking shots. When you get enough experience, finding the animal is easier part. Going hoame with an animal you feel good about taking the shot on requires some self resraint.

+ 1 on it being a different ram. Look at the curls, those pics in the first post shiw a ram with slightly longer, thicker tapered tips. Just my .02c

Nice fishing! I always dream about catching pike in a place like Canada, but until I can afford I'll have to be satisfied with occasional trips to upper lake maryto catch a couple.

I want to buy a modestly priced boltgun for hunting. I have looked at savages- and like the looks features and price of the markii BV. But I like the looks of the CZ 452 varmint better. My budget is 350 tops, so I'd like suggestions for a beautiful, accurate, affordable rimfire for game up to rabbits. .17 hmr, .22 lr, .22wmr, I'm open to them all. I don't want a 10/22 or other semi-auto. Suggestions? I'm open to buying used. Can I get the CZ for my budget somewhere?
