Amazingly symmetrtical, beautiful antler color, amazing mass, and just LOOK at those G-4s!!! What more could you ask for? (you know other than a 7x7 or bigger?) Anyway, that is a beautiful bull. What do y'all think he'd score? I'll say in the 360"-370" range. Hunting for me isnt about scores, but its fun to speculate

Hmmmmmmm? I DIDN'T see you there that day the Wallow fire started. Were you on the 25 road with the 3 Engines watching as the copper column was laying over with 50 mph gusts? Right now im thinking of everyone that was there and that was 9 Men and women including myself and I know every one of them. One of them was the idiot official that decided that is was too dangerous to go into a canyon with no escape routes and safety zones. Im not going to burn myself up for a tree. I dunno where you got your info but you might want to check your facts. Before you go pointing fingers, brush up on your 10 fire fighting standard orders and your 18 watchout situations. Also read the report that was given out by the Forest Supervisor, the timeline provided was given to him by my fellow crew members that were interviewed by law enforcement. Just tired of hearing what happened from everyone else that wasn't there! Timeline I am sorrry if what I said offended you. It was in no way directed at firefighters. I appreciate all the life saving, hard, dangerous work you guys did. But pleas, don't assume I'm talking out of my @$$. I was up in the general area when the fire started. I had a pretty good view at it at one point in time, didn't see anyone fighting it, (by then u guys must have been turned back?) then again I couldnt see the road too well. I was told, and this was directly by a forest ranger driving around in his green truck, that they were electing to let it burn out because the risk of it spreading or seriously burning in the pines was "minimal." This seemed odd, considering the tinder dry woods and already howling wind that was forecasted to increase. Now, obviously he was mistaken, but I had no way to know that! I figured they decided on saying it got out of hand to cover their @$$es. Again, I didnt just read someones vindictive post against the USFS and jump on board with their train of thought.

I appreciate everyone's imput and am considering the Cabela's option very seriously, but man does tha Solo 3 piece rod and a Solo Reel look like good value! Looks like what I was looking for, but 9' is a little long. Oh well, is still looks like what i am going to go with.

I'm looking to get into fly fishing some of Arizona's streams and rivers. The realization that I "needed" another excuse to go fishing came after I fished the fast flowing Lower Salt for trout and had a blast catching them on spinners, but it just felt like it would be more fullfilling to be flyfishing. So, my question is to all you who know anything about this, what fly rod and reel should I get for trout fishing? I am on a restricted budget of under $100, I know thats not much. Can I even get a rod and reel that's that cheap and isnt cheaply made? All I need is something that will work and stand up to a little abuse. I also am clueless to what weight rod and reel I should use for trout, and what flys work best. I was looking at this http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/Scientific-Anglers-Fly-Fishing-Kit-with-Videos-5-6-weight-Trout.aspx?a=538746&pm2d=CSE-SPG-5-NEXTAG&utm_source=nextag&utm_medium=cse would this work well? Im open to all suggestions. Hopefully snapshot will chime in, he sure does get some awesome Montana rainbows on the line! For flies, I've heard various nymphs and wooly buggers work well. What should I get? I'll mainly be fishing places like Oak Creek Canyon, the Black River, the Little Colorado, maybe a few lakes, though it seems like recntly they've all been on the bottom due to the heat. I know its a pretty all-encompassing question, but, honestly, I dont know where to start. Thanks for any help!

Well, with dove season a month away, I thought that I'd ask a very interesting and debatable question, what qualifies as good shooting for hunting doves? The way the dip, turn, swivel, duck, and rise in flight means that they arent the easiest bird to hit. Obviously if you answer above 10, that includes seperate outings.

Thanks for the link i was trying to find something to track fires, as for letting a fire burn out thats kinda like but a kid in a candy store alone and telling him not to eat anything his only going to get bigger as he eats more, until someone comes and stops him! I just dont get it, but my thinking is if they let it get bigger then it will take longer to put out and their checks will be bigger come payday No problem, happy to help. Inciweb is really great for staying on top of acerage, location. containment, weather conditions, and planned actions. Love that site, still wish that there wasnt a need for it
-
Just checked inciweb, the fire in the Pinals is burning at around 5800'-5900' elevation, its at aroun 1k acres, Called the Frio fire. Also burning in the Superstition Wilderness if the 650 fire. Heres a good link to all active major fires in AZ right now: http://inciweb.org/state/3/

Tell me about it. The same thing happened in the Wallow Fire. Some idiot officials decided it was is a small enough area and in a contained canyon that it would be just fine and dandy to let it burn out. What idiots! The forests were dry as tinder, and wind WAS forecasted. Couldnt see that one coming . I saw a small smoking area a few miles away from the Beeline hwy coming back from fishing not last weekend but the one before. Never heard much about it wondered what it was.

Dove Hunting Poll
couesobsession replied to couesobsession's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Mind if I ask what bad experiences? Not being able to hit the little bugers? Or another hunter's stupidity? Landowners? If you dont want to tell then thats fine. -
yeah there dumb until you have a bow in your hand +1 on that. That's why I rifle hunt. Dont matter how smart he is theres no escaping a bullet going 3,000 fps. Unless I miss, of course. Now that I thought of that I realize that those deer are safe as can be

I have had similar experiences, desertbull. I once shot 6 in a row with as many shells and then it Took me the rest of that box and another to hit the final 4. An average is what I'm interested in. -

Mormon Lake Elk, Rainbow and Sunset
couesobsession replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
This past week I hiked up Humphrey's Peak and have to say snowbowl road was absolutely covered in greenery. The meadow on the first leg of the hunt contained a lot of different colored wildflowers, I'll have to post a pic or two. However, My only camera on me was a pocket sony, I kinda wish I'd brought my Olympus DSLR along with me. -

I'm thinking of aquiring a pair of Vortex Talon HD 10x42 when i did an internet search for reviews and discovered that they look identical in almost every way including price to the Eagle Optics Ranger ED 10x42. Are they manufactured in the same plant/ by the same company? Also, how would these binos compare to a pair of Zen Ray Ed2 10x43? Eagle Optics Ranger ED http://www.eagleoptics.com/binoculars/eagle-optics/ranger-ed-10x42-binocular Vortex Talon HD http://www.eagleoptics.com/binoculars/vortex/vortex-talon-hd-10x42-binocular Besides color and brand, the design is IDENTICAL.

Please Welcome Miller's Southwestern Processing!
couesobsession replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Sponsor Spotlight
Welcome, I remember a year or two back there was a little sportsmans expo where they had some guest speakers and Mike's talk was t definately the most interesting. UI believe it was on how to prepair a game animal for mounting and taking pictures of the animal, If I remember right. Anyway this is a great company, and I'm very envious of the trips to all the trips to Africa that Mike has taken. -
REDUCED!!! $750 cash if you come to pick it up. Great Rifle for match shooting or if you take of the weights it would work for hunting. I'll throw in a plastic hard case (plano) and three padlocks plus 100 rounds of ELEY Standard ammunition plus a pair of rings.

I have an Anschutz 64 Match Silhoutte .22 for sale. It has the original stock professionally done black with a custom non factory aluminum bedding block which floats the barrel and beds the action. A two stage trigger done by a smith means a short and smooth first stage under a pound and a second stage with almost no movement at 3.5 ounces. Two weights- one foward of the reciever one on the end of the barre. Mean perfect off hand balance but can be removed with an Allen wrench. Weaver/pictaninny bases over the anschutz dovetails are rock solid and easy to find rings for.Good condition, a few blemishes but nothing that stands out. Single-shot with feed channel. The stock is wood. New 64s sell up to $1100 without the custom touches. Half inch grous with eley standard are routine.at 100 yards and groups down to 3/8 th of one inch have been achieved. Serious rifle for matches. $800. PM me. Now $750, thats a great price. On a side note, this gun was made before the ejection issues and functions flawlessly. http://s1120.photobucket.com/albums/l492/wildernessguycwr/?action=view¤t=006.jpg

Limited Opportunity Elk-2 Pretty vs Ugly!
couesobsession replied to Koury Guide Service's topic in Elk Hunting
Sorry to rock the bout and it is the decision of the shooter, but there's just something special about a giant 6x6. He is tall and wide and has good mass. Hopefully his whale tails will grow out in the coming couple of months. Im not much on scores, but I think he'd score better than the "knuclehead" bull, too. Scores arent that important, though. I have been known to shoot lesser animals just becasue they look cool or have bigger bodies with more of that tasty game meat. Just out of curiosity what do you think each bull will score? I'm thinking the pretty 6x6 will go, as is, 340," maybe more like 350." The knucklehead is just to hard to judge for my limited knowledge -
Uh-oh, I hope Lark (.270) doesn't get wind of this!
