Would you guys be willing to lose santa margarita ranch for landowner tags? The owner doesn't care for hunting and would absolutely throw the tags in the garbage and not see another hunter.
-
In az, when a landowner stresses their concern g&f issues a depredation tag. When the concern is consistent like the hay farm by Heber they create otc units.
-
With all due respect, the super raffle is one tag not the amount that will effect populations and draws. Az already has a protocol to deal with nuisance farmland wild game. It's depredation tags.

Are you guys okay with landowner tags?

Not much of a story. I went to my northern az quail place and my shotgun jammed. After 20 or 30 minutes of fiddling with it, I decided to go home. Driving way to fast on a dirt road, something crossed in front of me. I stop and think pig, then I think, the biggest javelina in the world. Then I think, do javelina have tails? Then I think, must be a ranchers, but there are no ranches within 5 or 10 miles. Then I think, I am smoking a tritip this evening. F IT! and grab my truck pistol. 357 Several shots from the cylinder were solid and it fumbles back towards me and falls

That's what my wife thought. I googled feral hogs for the area and saw some old post on here that says they have seen them in the area.

A friend of mine runs trips there once a year or so for his ig page. If i remember correctly, he said 'silver medal' bulls are around 5k. DIY you would be lucky to get a 200" stag. What I thinking about doing was doing was chartering a helicopter and renting one of the cabins for a week and focusing on tahr and trout.

DIY or guided?

I put my step dad in for a champ hunt with no issues

Someone in the conversation has (2) 200 inch + bucks on early rifle tags.😆

I can only speak for myself. I tore a couple of muscles in my shoulder last June. My doctor offered me a xbow permit. I declined and went with a 40lb recurve.

The studies I just read increased the buck to do ratio in Colorado from 12-15 bucks per 100 does to 35 bucks per 100. I would prefer hunters just policed themselves, and if you are an experienced hunter not shoot the first yearling that's 35 yards off the road. With g&f using some of their billboards to promote it.

Keep the quotas and otc. Add antler restrictions. Way to many bucks don't have a chance to grow up.

It would remove 10-20 percent of the applicants and increase the draw odds.

I do have a new rule when it comes to answering dms on spots to hunt. If I have seen a thread with your handle then yes, I will send you a spot to start upto a hot spot. Too many times, I have sent someone a really good spot and never heard back from them on their success/failure.
-
Don't look at my dm's on here. 75% of them are people asking for starting points.
-
Asking for a friend, how much for my, umm I mean my friends, otc elk spots? I, I mean my friend, has been successful 3 of the last four years.

The people getting archery antelope tags, shouldn't. The last time I tagged along on a unit 1 hunt, my brother startled the buck he was after into eyesight of the highway. A guy in a painter suit came in, then a guy in an antelope costume, then a guy behind a decoy. The finale was a lifted duramax powersliding into range about 150 yards away.

You're preaching to the choir!

I am all in for making hunting retro. Traditional bows and muzzys and Fixed power scopes for general hunts. This would give the animals a chance grow to maturity.

Talking to a lot of crossbow, you would be surprised how many had knee injuries or back spasms. This loophole is getting abused and i am glad it's closing My stepdad has a champ permit, primarily so I can retrieve his game if he makes a bad shot. He hasn't hunted any of the otc stuff with it.
